  1. Hey JIPJIP, thanks for your support on this topic. When i‘ll face this issue in future again i‘ll take your findings into account. Last time i started from scratch. But before i copied my adjustments into a new file to save them. So at the end this saved a lot of time and i won my first photography competition with this image 🙂🙃. Regards, Michael
  2. I face similar issues after the last update to version 1.10.4. Before this update I had no issue when working with Affinity but now it is nearly impossible to work. Even with small jpeg-files it takes ages to select a small area of an image with the selection brush tool. I'm sorry to write that but at the moment it is a disaster to work with Affinity.... 😔 Regards, Michael
  3. Thanks for your quick response. In understood the masking approach. I already tried this but i'll try again. The transparency results from the blend range settings applied to the first 2-off layers. But i'll try to solve the image with the masking approach again. Thanks for your support! Michael
  4. Ok, I have uploaded the file. Could you have a look at it? Thanks in advance, Michael Final_Exposure_Blending_2.afphoto
  5. Thanks for your tips Old Bruce. In the foreground is a tree trunk (very sharp because this image was created using the focus merge). I tried already with masking but the result was not satisfactory. I thought I have overlooked some hidden feature in Affinity but it looks like that is not the case. I think I have to accept the degradation in sharpness when using blend ranges. Is it allowed to upload the afphoto-file? Thanks! Michael
  6. Dear Affinity Users, I'm heavily struggling to combine 3-off images consisting of a focus merge, a dark exposure for the sky and a stack to smooth the water in the final image. I created the focus merge and the stack separately. The dark exposure for the sky is a single image. I managed to create a prelim image using blend ranges but I'm losing sharpness in the foreground. I would like to maintain the sharpness in the foreground. Is there any clever method on how to combine a focus merge and a darker exposure for the sky? I tried it manually as well with manual image alignment and masking but the result was not satisfactory. All images were shot with the camera on a tripod. Thanks in advance for any help, Regards, Michael
  7. Lisbon, many thanks for this equation and the time you spent to develop it. To be honest, without doing some research I will not be able to understand what the equation does. I have tested the equation with one of my images. The result is very impressive and exactly what I was looking for. Big thank you. One final question regarding your last sentence. What do you mean by "the lower the range the closer to middle gray"? Does it mean I have to adjust the input for the real number a "Range (0-255)"? Does the equation work for 8-bit and 16-bit images? Thanks in advance, Michael
  8. Dear Affinity-Developers & Users, I'm trying to find a smart way to identify those pixels in an image which are close or matching mid grey. I would like to set the black, the white and the grey point in my images manually. Does an equation (do equations) exist which can be used with Procedural Texture to do this job? Many thanks in advance, Michael
  9. Good Morning, my question is regarding the sources panel when working on a focus merge. I have created a new focus merge without any issue. I saved the document as .afphoto. When I open the document again I can bring up the sources panel using View => Studio => Sources. But the sources panel is empty. Is it possible to reload the images used to create a focus merge to continue editing the focus merged image, or do I have to finish editing the final focus merged image prior to saving the document? Many thanks for your support, Regards, Michael
  10. Hey firstdefence, thanks for your reply. I checked the brush setting as recommended. I had to change to shape slider to 100% to get back to a circular clone brush. Thanks & Regards, MichaelSOL101
  11. Dear Affinity Photo Developers, since yesterday I face the problem that the shape of my clone brush changed from circular to elliptical. I tried to fix this by reseting all brushes but it didn't work. Maybe I used a shortcut by accident I'm not aware of. Even if I open a complete "virgin" document the shape of the clone brush remains elliptical. I'm working on a Mac using the latest version of Affinity Photo. Thanks for your support in advance, Michael
