Brand, spanking new to serious photo editing. The only editing I have done so far is to use the tools that come with Apple's Photo.app.
What drove me to try Affinity was: my wife got involved with genealogy and joined a formal group for that purpose.
The group offers an automatic colorization tool which, after experimenting with it a few times, produces acceptable results. For me the problem is that you upload your photos to their site to accomplish the colorization and now they have your photos. This bothers me and so I landed on Affinity because it was recommended on a Mac forum to which I subscribe.
Before I spend hours attempting to do the impossible, can some kind soul advise if it is possible to something akin to automatic colorization of black and white photos with Affinity?
Many thanks for any assistance and I have attached an example of the before and after of the genealogy colorization tool.

Many thanks to both of you, The videos were real eye openers. I'm 82, and I don't know if I have enough years left to colorize even a small portion of all the old, black and white photos after watching those videos to which a link was provided. The colorization of the gent wearing the hat was a real eye-opener in the sense that it demonstrated just how much time is required to do a really good job.
