This is something that baked my noodle for some time but one workaround I found was to save the artwork or element that you're wanting to resize as its own file, and then place it either into a new document or even the current one, as it treats it as a new embedded file, at which point you can then scale it as much as you want.

It is useful if you need to maintain original scale (like in architectural drawings) or stretch it to some common scale. This is more about vector images of course.

    Well, good for you, Carl.
I do, however, want to know all that information at a glance--as well as the effective PPI, be able to swap out images/vector work etc. from that little palette.

I don't think using math on each image, is user friendly way of handling this issue. By adding 2 extra fields next to the W and H fields in the transform pallet, displaying the actual percentage of the placed image, would be very very very usefull... And will solve all issues of users which would like to use percentages on images...

    Hi,
Indeed, using the Resource manager you can also check the resolution of an image. But it's only displayed in 1 dimension. If an image has been resized disproportionately,  there is no way to check it. What is the default workflow to check for disproportionately placed images and to restore them to proportions?

You can find the original image size and the paced image size in Document > Resource Manager so you can already...

I don't think there is one.
Wouldn't it be easier to not distort them in the first place? Or to notice distortion as you cause it, and Undo?

Maybe yes. But what if you work in teams? There is no way you can be sure what you colleagues should have been doing....

43% of the total width or height of the size of the image. If an image has a width of 100cm, and you would like it be placed in Publisher as an image using a width of 43cm, the image should be placed as 43%. Knowing the images is placed in 43%, will allow us to quickly identify the potential of an image, allowing us to enlarge it again, if required.

You can type a percentage in the W or H controls in the Transform panel. Linking the two beforehand will mean that you only need to type the value once.
The new absolute values will be treated as 100% for the next transform, so there’s no easy way to get back from (say) 43% to the original 100%.

You are right, I can enable the history panel in Pixel Persona. Sorry I'm quite new to Affinity Designer, so I just didn't know that.
    Thank you for your hint!

That’s very strange. It should be available in both.

I would love to see those Undo&redo buttons in the desktop version!
When using a Surface with Pen it is extremly workflow breaking to open the menu to undo.
Maybe it would be even possible to add gestures for undo as on iPad, but buttons are probably the best benefit for all!
    Thanks

wow how arrogant. Which part of not having keyboard dont you understand? It's rather annoying that in ios version this functionality is available. If you don't need it than just don't respond. Especially if you have nothing to say.

The new Affinity designer for iPad looks and feels awesome.
I would love to see a similar version of the Designer on Windows 10 which uses the full potential of the Windows 10 touch functionalities. A direct copy of the iPad UI could be awesome.

I agree with this. I was hoping if Affinity Designer could implement hand gestures like the ones on the iPad. I use a Microsoft Surface Book, so when I use the touchscreen I detach it from the keyboard, and let me tell you, it is not convenient to go to Edit>Undo every single time I want to undo one action.

I agree as well.  I have a Wacom Cintiq Companion 2 and a Surface Pro 4 and want to use them with Designer the way I am able to with the iPad.  You guys got the user experience right on the iPad with touch, gestures and pen support.  This is the way creative apps should be.

I concur. The ability to switch to that touch-friendly interface would be superb. Blow Photoshop even further out of the water!

I have tried Affinity Design today with my Surface Pro 4 and it is really good, but I feel the same like other people here. The Surface Pen is almost useless on the Surface Pro and the touch interface is buggy. You cannot use your menus with your finger, just the pen, you cannot rotate the canvas and there is no way to undo in a easy way. Even the color selector is not working with the pen (I have read it is fixed in the non trial version). And also the mouse rightclick is not working with the Pen input so you cannot show the context menu from the pen. There is a huge lack of real Pen compatible apps on the Windows Market. Since 2 years ago I bought the Surface pro 4, I really want a good Pen experience as I had with Wacom to fill my expectations. It could not be possible I bought this tablet thinking about an all-in-one solution to forget Wacom tablets, but it only work good with windows apps like One Note, but not professional grade apps like yours. Please give us the reason to worth our Surface Pro Tablets Microsoft couldn't give us with an empty app market, 5 Surface generations later since first Surface pro.
Thanks you for your awesome work.

Inspired by the Affinity Designer I tried to do some vector work with the Adobe Illustrator.
    Pro:
    - Adobe Illustrator has a great lightweight touch mode
    - Integrated Surface Dial function
    Con:
    - No Artboard rotation
    - I'm not able to use my pen as an eraser...
    - Feels here and there a bit buggy
I think Affinity has a lot of potential on Windows 10. This could be kind of a disruptive innovation.
The Surface Line is a versatile creative dream, but we also need tools to support it,
and Adobe did a bad job to do so in the last years. Here we have now a lot of potentials for a newcomer to grab market share.

I agree -- it would be great if at least some of the iPad interface's features could be translated as options for the desktop version, e.g., the popup item properties panel along the bottom to make it easier to make some common adjustments with a graphics-tablet stylus (even without a touchscreen).
But I should mention that as a completely new user I'm delighted with the features I have been discovering and the ergonomic design decisions that have already been implemented. This (desktop) app puts a smile on my face.
Also, I have never owned an iProduct in my life, but your apps are tipping the balance ...  I'm waiting to see if iPad Pro 3 comes out in a couple of months.  Apple should probably pay you a commission

Hi all, I'm Martin from the North East of England. I've been working in graphic design for some 30 years now, originally starting in traditional pasteup, good old spraymount and rotring pens before I eventually moved onto computers using Ventura and Aldus FreeHand before eventually switching over to another well known developer. Recently found Affinity Photo and Designer through an ad and was that impressed with them I ended up buying both products for my wife who was wanting to get into digital art on her mac and as such I have essentially been learning both programs through teaching her how to use them.

I'm currently using the trial versions myself on a PC but hoping they're still on offer by the time I can afford to buy them all for myself, although I have to admit that even at full price they are ridiculously good value for money considering the quality of the tools.
