This would be an amazing feature! Definitely a game changer for many users & will make architects/engineers switch to affinity over adobe.

agreed on many of the above, global layers are urgently needed. affinity is 100x better user experience than adobe, but unfortunately this functionality (both in designer as in publisher) is keeping me from being able to move over unfortunately - global layers are essential to my and I think many peoples workflow.. even if it would be an option in preferences Would be great to see it on the roadmap serif!

Thanks for the reply, and sorry if it wasn't clear. Ill try to elaborate:

I have 3 Layers : Text,  Images, Background. Within those layers are text and picture-frame objects/'layers' 

If I copy some objects that exist under a  'parent-layer', such as Text, to another page, it just copies the object-layers without the ' parent-layer'. I can copy the objects+parent-layer only if I select the layer in the layers panel and then copy, but that copies all the Layer contents and I only want to copy some elements of that layer.

 

How could I have a basic layer structure, such as text, objects, background, and keep the objects in those layers when copied from page to page?

Or am I using layers wrongly (the indesign way..)?

Indeed; global layers, and 'paste remembers layers' are absolutely crucial functionalities. Please add this in a future release Serif.!

[Affinity Designer - Paste Remembers Layer?]

For me unfortunately this is not working in affinity publisher: if I select multiple objects (which are on multiple layers), and I paste it on a different page - then it pastes all objects ' on top' and the layers are not retained.. Edit all layers on/off doesn't affect this. Am I missing something and is there a way in publisher to retain object layers when copy pasting?

Could an ‘Artboards studio’ be implemented?
 

a bit similar to Adobe ai perhaps, or affinity publishers pages. Would be much more flexible - in such way artboards export order can be more easily reordered, and the artboards don’t clutter the layers. Consistent layers over all artboards (’global layers’), like Ai would be great too.

if this can be on the roadmap that would be great, I think lots of users would benefit from such functionality

Hi Affinity,

The affinity user experience overall is great, but unfortunately some basic functionalities seems to be missing..

 

for example; to be able to copypaste objects from one artboard to another at the same location. Just as adobes ‘paste in place’. This is super essential for working with multiple variations of an illustration.

Could you please implement, that when copying the selected artboard is registrated, and when pasting this happens to the current artboard? 

if this could be on the roadmap for affinity, that would be great!
