  1. I’d love light mode as well, for both better contrast against my designs and for aesthetic reasons. I’m seriously considering moving to Vectornator on the IPad it has a much better support base and the developers are constantly updating and adding new features. They really listen to their users too. I feel Serif (probably do to their broader eco system) does not focus very heavily or prioritize the development of the affinity suite on IPadOS, hence the slow updates, the lack of users input being heard, and the fact that we still don’t have Affinity Publisher on IPad. Which makes zero sense since so many creatives are using and/or switch to the iPad.

Since i use the "export > share > save image" option 90% of my time, it would be really nice to have the option to add this "tool" to the main toolbar. Ofc even better, if you could add specific tools and options to the toolbar, like the sample image i made.

I thought i would be able to do that now since there are keyboard shortcuts available, but sadly there are obviously options missing that could improve my workflow a lot!

either way, adding those custom tools, improving the shortcut options (adding custom shortcuts to custom tools/options), or adding a "actions" setting like in photoshop would resolve this problem of automating workflow even more.

anyway, thx a lot for this amazing product!!!!

    cheers!

As far as I know, they do not have a way to customize the toolbar. I wish there was more customization myself (there is on the desktop version) as I don’t use a lot of the default tools for digital painting. But, they do have actions, it’s called Macros, though I do believe you can only record Macros on desktop as of right now.

  3. I am a digital comic illustrator and I’ve been wanting to switch to AP. I’ve owned the desktop Affinity Suite for a few years now, but have recently been playing around in the IOS version of AP. I’ve noticed that the brush engine has really improved, which I’m very happy to see! My only set backs with switching from Procreate to AP is the frequent crashing problems and the fact that the Context Toolbar can’t be hidden. This may not be as much of an issue for those editing and manipulating  photos, but it really gets in the way when painting. I’m hitting it with my palm constantly. I’d like to request a hide/view option. I hope to be able to use AP on desktop and IPad together solely for my illustrations and comic art. I also hope to help other artists see how powerful this program can be!

I’d also love to see a smoothing/streamline option for the paint brush tools. The rope and window stabilizers feel pretty clunky when inking and painting, though they definitely are helpful for some operations.

     Hi ArtofBörose

    Welcome to the forums :)

Unfortunately you will just have to re import the brushes to get them back. I can't recreate this problem with brush edits not showing until you hit save please could you provide a screen recording of this problem.  You can re order the brushes by holding left click and dragging them around or you can right click and hit move to category.

    Thanks

    C

@Callum Hello, Callum, thank you for your response and your greeting! I tried them today, and the brushes are now showing their edits. I unfortunately wasn’t able to recover the brushes I made that weren’t saved, but I remade them and they turned out even better this time. Thank you for your help.

  5. Help, is there any way to restore brushes? I lost all my custom brushes and daub/frankentoon brushes today after the app crashed. Weirdly enough, the document I was in did save, but all my brushes are gone without a trace!

Before this happened, I noticed that whenever I duplicated a brush, another duplicate would show up under the Basic category. And whenever I edit a brush it doesn’t show the changes where the brush displays in the brushes category unless I save the brush and when I do this, it creates a new brush duplicate brush with the updated settings, instead of just saving and overriding the original brush settings.

I also can’t figure out how to reorder brushes which can be a pain. I have to make a whole new brush category and move my brushes over in the order I want them to be in.

Please I purchased the affinity designer so I can both create vector arts and digital paintings....looks like I may have made a mistake. Because I can’t seem to find anyone who has successfully done a portrait with it ...instead all I’m seeing in search is affinity photo....so please is it possible to create digital paintings with affinity designer ? Thanks

Hi! My answer would be yes, you don’t have as many features in the pixel persona compared to Affinity Photo, but the raster brushes generally work the same and you have selection tools, mesh, and the smudge tool. I’ve painted in it before and it worked out great. :)
