  1. Yes, this is what I thought. Like some form of inline meta data. I inherited this (large) file as an IDML exported from, *cough*, InDesign. So I can't really say. But you assume correctly that it is not original, typed, content. Absolutely!
  2. It seems to be a character used to indicate (to software) how to treat the text. It also seems to be described as a zero-width non-breaking space. I'm not sure what value that has as it seems to be a contradiction by definition, haha. What's really useful is that Affinity shows us it's there. In most cases that's enough. If we were to have some sort of lookup in the documentation they could use embedded images I guess.
  3. Ooh thats interesting, and it worked! It converted the character into U+FEFF Which I can now look up! Thanks so much for that tip, awesome! It would still be good to have a simple lookup table for these from Serif though rather than having to convert them :0)
  4. With View > Show text flow enabled we get nice little red markers to show where we have overflowing text in text boxes. These are an amazing time saver! I nearly exclusively use text styles and table formats, but as we know we can overwrite these settings using the table, character and paragraph studio frames. It would be amazing if there were some visual indicator to show when a given text frame/table etc had some setting overwritten from the default style/format! If there is a way, I can't find it, but when you have hundreds of pages in your document this would be so helpful (for me anyway!!)
  5. Hello! I keep Text > Show special characters enabled. Most of it makes sense and is extremely useful, for example carriage returns, tabs, spaces etc. There have been a couple, over time, which I have not recognised. I can't seem to find a reference as to what they all mean? For example, there is a character at the start of the following text frame which is showing as an up/down arrow (it's not a frame decoration!) and I have no clue what it is?
  6. I'm so sorry if this has been raised again since but I can't find it, if it has... I have a huge document where I need to remove all borders from the tables. When they are applied directly to the table it doesn't appear that assigning a borderless table preset removes those which already exist. Also, if you select multiple tables, you can't even make those changes, you seem to need to apply them one at a time to each table. I have MASSES to do. A button/option may well add to the interface but it's only clutter if it's not required :0) I would love to see a way of QUICKLY removing ALL format from a selection, or removing only table formats or text styles... And more importantly if it were a menu item (like you get in Excel, for example) I could add a keyboard shortcut for it! WT
  7. Thanks for this, @loukash! I did consider going down the Applescript route but it really does feel hacky, as you suggest. I'll look at your examples as they may inspire me to go for it anyway :0) Thanks again for taking the time to reply, I'll let you know if I go for it!
  8. So we can add keyboard shortcuts for everything in menus but support is touchy out-with menus. For example, we can add a shortcut key for text styles, but not Publisher table formats (from what I can see). Then there are buttons, for example the Unpin button on the pinning pane. I do a lot of work importing existing documents and making sure that, for example, the pinning pane is always visible for the sake of a single button I use regularly is tiresome. I also use the Elgato Stream Deck which can be assigned to such keyboard shortcuts and it would be amazing to use that, but without keyboard shortcuts for these I can't find a way. It would be AMAZING if the keyboard shortcut functionality could be extended to more areas (across all 3 apps), especially for those of us who find using a mouse difficult.
  9. I'm using Publisher 1.9.1 on Catalina on a late 2015 iMac. Isn't there suppose to be a "delete row" button as well as a "delete column"?
  10. Awesome, this has fixed the grouping / text issue for me. Awesome response to user feedback on an awesome product!! Thank you!!
  11. Is there a reason that every layer is named IDML upon importing an IDML file? All groups, frames, images, everything is named IDML. This is time consuming to correct as I prefer to start with each layer having no name. If there is no way to remove the name from all layers simultaneously and no way to import without these automatic names then I'd like to request one or both of these features 😀
  12. As above, I'm getting this with EVERY grouping I make since my update to 1.9, as are my colleagues. Groups are unusable till this is rectified :0(
