  1. Hi all I am exporting an SVG file for use on a website. The SVG file includes a png image so I want to reference this file with its file path but when I export to SVG the png file gets mangled into <image width="1200px" height="1600px" xlink:href="data:image/png;base64,iVBORw0KGgoAAAANSUhEUgAABLAAAAZAC..."> How can I save it with a file path (which I will update to my website) such as <image width="1200px" height="1600px" xlink:href="/files/images/myfile.png"/>
  2. Hi all, I am using this font - when I do Layer / Convert to Curves the letter M looks like four separate curves - but in the layer panel there is only one layer per letter, and so one curve / shape. How can I break up this compund / blob shape so that each of the four lines is its own separate curve / layer? argon.afdesign
  3. On a side note re my original screenshot above why does Designer break up words like "New York" into "New", "Yor" and "k" - which then need multiple x y coordinates? I know this can be turned off in svg export options with longer text spans but what is the benefit / point of doing it, why is breaking up words even an option? why would anyone want words broken up in their SVG?
  4. Yeah that is how I would expect the SVG file to look - so it looks like a V2 bug ?
  5. Yes you can see in my original screenshot above that "Flatten transforms" is already checked.
  6. I mean the g (group) elements are empty see below for example - the group opens and then closes with nothing inside it - also as you can see in my AD screenshot I have no groups in the layers panel so where are these groups coming from? <g transform="matrix(50,0,0,50,310.289,181.133)"> </g>
  7. Hi all I have attached a simple file as an example - in Designer 2 I have three layers with font text, one layer with a rectangle and no groups. When I export the file to SVG it seems that I have an empty group for each text layer. The SVG file displays ok in the browser but I don't want useless clutter in my SVG files. Can anyone please tell me why am I getting these empty groups or how can I stop them? <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8" standalone="no"?> <!DOCTYPE svg PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD SVG 1.1//EN" "http://www.w3.org/Graphics/SVG/1.1/DTD/svg11.dtd"> <svg width="100%" height="100%" viewBox="0 0 400 200" version="1.1" xmlns="http://www.w3.org/2000/svg" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink" xml:space="preserve" xmlns:serif="http://www.serif.com/" style="fill-rule:evenodd;clip-rule:evenodd;stroke-linejoin:round;stroke-miterlimit:2;"> <rect x="50" y="20" width="50" height="50" style="fill:rgb(13,202,242);"/> <g transform="matrix(50,0,0,50,310.289,181.133)"> </g> <text x="124.058px" y="181.133px" style="font-family:'ArialMT', 'Arial', sans-serif;font-size:50px;">Houston</text> <g transform="matrix(50,0,0,50,249.972,116.383)"> </g> <text x="94.308px" y="116.383px" style="font-family:'ArialMT', 'Arial', sans-serif;font-size:50px;">Boston</text> <g transform="matrix(50,0,0,50,257.422,55.791)"> </g> <text x="46.191px" y="55.791px" style="font-family:'ArialMT', 'Arial', sans-serif;font-size:50px;">New <tspan x="159.204px 187.964px 215.771px " y="55.791px 55.791px 55.791px ">Yor</tspan>k</text> </svg> text-test-261122.afdesign
  8. Hi all With the node tool I can drag on a straight line to create an arc but is there a way to make the resulting arc perfectly symmetrical rather than being skewed left or right? I can get close by manually estimating where the midpoint is but is there a way to make it mathematically perfect?
  9. I don't mean repeating the same shape with 5 points, then 6 points, then 7 points etc but rather just one example of each distinctive shape and in particular shapes that are not obviously stars (in the case of the star tool) as in my original examples. So maybe 50 - 100 examples of the star tool. The presets are very helpful so I guess my original post becomes a feature request that the presets feature could be expanded. I recall that Adobe has something like an online asset library where users can browse thumbnails of svg's etc and then import any they like. Users could also submit their own examples for sharing. The idea is that each new Affinity customer learning these shapes by trial and error seems to be a duplication of effort and sometimes frustration / reinventing the wheel, so some customers such as me might find a library helpful in unlocking or accelerating the possibilities of the shape tools. Of course I realise that this feature request would require coding and may not be easy and may never happen. ๐Ÿ˜€
  10. I am thinking of something like 5 thumbnails per row so you could have several hundred on one page so you could quickly find the one you need. In the long run this would be a time saver for me because my brain does not have enough RAM to remember all the variations. ๐Ÿ˜€
  11. @v_kyr @Pลกenda yeah these presets are helpful but they stay close to the star shape - I am also thinking of many cases like my examples where it is not obvious that the star tool can do this.
  12. Hi all, I love the different shapes in Designer but often I find myself wasting time with trial and error trying to find the right shape or shape settings. For example see the three interesting shapes below all made with the star tool and none of them look like stars - I mean it is not obvious that you can do this with the star tool. So wouldn't it be good if there was some kind of online visual reference listing hundreds of shapes so a user can look through thumbnails for the shape they want and then see the corresponding details for that shape eg star tool, points 4, inner radius 70%, outer circle 100%, inner circle 0% Is there anything like this online already? If not is anyone interested in seeing this or collaborating if I start building a library?
  13. Hi all Using Designer, I want to do a decorative border something like the attached photo. I could do this with three different strokes but is there a better way to do this or does anyone know any brushes that can do this? Thanks...
