  1. Thank you ... I thought I had tried that ... quite obviously wrongly as I was left with a black background. I will have to work out what my mistakes were. Thanks again!
  2. Thank you for your response & interest. The earlier example was an illustration of my hacking at the image as I try to learn Affinity whilst watching Mr Ritson's tutorials. A stacked section of the image is below and I look forward to any pointers or advice. Orion_M42_Nebula_Set_1.tiff
  3. Thank you GarryP, I have asked in my astro forums - unfortunately Affinity does not have much traction yet and the advice I get refers me to other software products such as APP, PixInsight, Photoshop, GIMP etc. for astro post processing. Hopefully someone here will have a suggestion but I see previous posts from other Affinity users on halo's so maybe not.
  4. Hello - I have just started using Affinity for Astrography processing after the recent stacking functionality upgrade, having had it on my computer for quite a long time.. I am struggling to effectively remove star halos . My systems are both MacOS based so would appreciate advice on that platform (I am unsure if & how the W10 version could be different). The image below illustrates my problem where my "crude" attempts end up with further halos (admittedly duller but a colour or black) being left behind with both the following methods: 1. Using the color>defringe tool with or without feathering 2. Select> grow> feather > HSL > desaturate (or using desaturate through the vibrance tool) I would appreciate some help/ advice on how to go about removing these halos in post processing. Thanks in advance. PS: I am not yet worried about the diffraction spikes given that I use a very very old lens.
  5. Stacked astro photography. Background removal filter - sampling does not adjust sliders on clicking or on apply. Repeatable on stack of 60 lights/ 30 dark/ 30 Bias. When apply is clicked, as expected, background not removed. System: Apple MacBook Pro 2020, i7. Big Sur. Current licensed version of Affinity Photo from Apple Store.
