DenisD84 reacted to ziplock9000 in AMD Radeon RX Hardware Acceleration
They have always blamed AMD from the start. While there is an issue with the driver, developers of other products have not chosen to use this development path or have switch and have no issues.
They choose to use a broken API and refuse to use another one that works.
Because the issue has persisted for so long, the ball has firmly been in AF's court for a while now, not AMD.
Poop analogy incoming warning:
If I was a home decorator and the paint I had been using no longer works, I'd not keep telling my customers I can't paint their walls for over a year, I'd buy paint from another company. I'd also not tell customers to get another painter, just because I wont use paint from another company.

Thank you, Mr.Ingram this is the response and communication that I appreciate. Now we have to wait for the results, hopefully not much long.

There's no need to argue or discuss the point of AMD support. We are in contact with AMD, who are being very responsive, and they are working on a fix. The issue is that their latest drivers have been re-written for the new architectures, and there's a problem with the OpenCL kernel compiler, as it's now 10X slower than it was before (this would translate to a hang when switching to a new tool for the first time for each app launch). I've provided them with test cases, and I'm in regular contact with their engineers about the problem.

It would be hilarious if you hadn't spent more than 200 euros on this buggy software.

That's what Serif has said:

And still Hardware Acceleration in Photo (Win) with AMD Radeon 6XXX do not work. Will it work in full 1.10 release? I'm getting more and more irritated with this issue to be honest, it exists since couples of months.

DenisD84 reacted to Trensharo in AMD Radeon RX Hardware Acceleration
Went back to Adobe. Better performance. My projects are larger than most hobby things. I need the hardware to be utilized.
Interesting how this was the only software on my machine that had an issue with the AMD GPU, though. Whatever. I fixed the issue in a different manner.

You are right,
Adobe Photoshop has already a OpenCL Support and the Grafik acceleration with my RX6800x works fine.
But i have already paid for this Software and i hope this will be fix soon as posible.

Well, this is the point, OpenCL works fine on RX6000, only application that I found that is not is Affinity Photo so far, and this is for months.
Maybe it is not a big problem if you're working with some smaller projects or some designs, or your family vacations photos or something, but when you have 8 or 12K photos/renders waiting for some filters and operations adds up, and you're waiting, and waiting for calculations.
Serif, please do check do still the problem exist with the newest drivers, if yes push AMD to fix it if it is actually a problem on their side.
Best Regards!

Good day from Germany,
I know get on it no answer or only again, practice you in patience. Must get rid of it, is just to laugh.
How is the status now after 4 1/2 months with the contact to AMD? So from the next UPDATE no graphics cards with the older architecture versions of the Graphics Core Next (GCN), as well as the affected series HD 7000/8000 no longer supported. (https://www.heise.de/news/Spielergrafikkarten-AMD-und-Nvidia-beenden-Treiber-Support-vieler-GPUs-6115492.html)
Switching off the hardware acceleration should not affect the workflow. But had, hab Paid like everyone else and do not get this, because and this you have to melt on the tongue. Since it was not managed in 19 months (+ 4 months = 23 months) to program the OPEN-CL interface. The RX 5700 xt has come on 07.07.2019 on the market. In this time one could have possibly hired an employee who can do this or employee schools.
Live long and in peace.

DenisD84 got a reaction from Robert V in 1.9.1 no more OpenCl for me
Hi @Robert V,

I'll write to you in German, Affinity has switched it off because it only caused problems on AMD cards of the 5000 generation or higher.
My tip is to download the old version for all 3 programmes, i.e. 1.8.5, if you can do without the new functions for the time being?
I'll probably do that now too, because even without the Open-CL hook, my system just says no feedback now and then.

DenisD84 reacted to Mark Ingram in AMD Radeon RX Performance Problems
Since the release of 1.9.0, we have become aware of performance problems for owners of AMD Radeon RX graphics cards. This is due to the new hardware acceleration feature which is enabled by default in 1.9.0. We are actively investigating this problem, but while we do this, we recommend trying Photo with Hardware Acceleration disabled (in Preferences | Performance). We apologise for the inconvenience, and thank you for your patience while we investigate.
If you are experiencing these performance problems, and you do have an AMD Radeon RX graphics card, please could you go to Help | Benchmark, then press Run Benchmark, and take a screenshot of the results, and post them to this thread (there is no need to record a benchmark with OpenCL disabled). Alternatively just reply with the exact model of graphics card that you're using. There is no need to make additional threads in the forum describing performance problems if you have an AMD Radeon RX, and you still have Hardware Acceleration enabled. Any descriptions of the performance problems that you are seeing would also be useful. Thanks again.
