Artwo reacted to albertkinng in Background remover in Affinity Photo 2?
In Apple's Preview app and in Keynote app you can remove background with a click or click and drag like instantly. Recently a friend show me how he removes a background with Pixelmator Pro, literally one click and everything around the object is gone. Knowing that Afinity Photo 2 is a powerful image editor and is marketing for the Pros, I need to know if there's a similar way to extract an object or delete a background with it. In the latest iOS update, I can touch an image on any photo on the iPad and copy just the person without the background instantly. That's how I'm doing as part of the workflow with Affinity Photo 2 on iPad, but today I was trying to do a fast edit on a picture and didn't find a way to achieve this. I literally Airdrop the pic to the iPad and copy the image with one touch and paste it on Affinity Photo, but it has to be a faster way on the desktop version, right? Well I learned you can do the same thing using certain apps on macOS like Preview and Photos and so on... Why I can't find a way to do it inside Affinity Photo? Pixelmator is using the Apple's API, obviously! Am I doing something wrong? Is because Affinity runs in Windows too and can't take advantage of macOS capabilities? Any idea of how to remove a background with a click or click and drag will be appreciated.

Artwo reacted to EricP in Extend StudioLink to the whole Affinity suite
yes, I know I can open the same file in all 3 apps. I also open both Designer and Photo simultaneously and copy paste objects if I need to use a feature not available in the other app. But the whole point of Studio Link is to have all tools in one editing session. If you look at the demo they made at the keynote they introduced it, it is pretty compelling ("that's why it's called Affinity")

Artwo reacted to tomO2013 in AI masking and DAM features for APhoto v2
Hi,
First of all, well done and congratulations on your new Affinity suite.
I really appreciate all the hard work that I can see has obviously gone into this suite and I’m enjoying the UIX updates.
There are two features that I feel are holding me back from cancelling my subscription to the other big company who competes with APhoto and those are :
- AI Object and subject detection auto-Masking (Intellgient object detection and subject masking). I cannot tell you what a killer feature this for your competition and it’s one that I’d love to see included (even to Mac variant).
- A better way to browse my Affinity suite of assets across the apps - Originally I was hoping for something like Lightroom but in hindsight I think something more akin to bridge may be more apt.
In any case I’d appreciate if these suggestions could be added to your backlog for APhoto v2 for downstream consideration or even planning!
best regards and congrats again on an excellent software release.

Artwo reacted to AffinityAppMan in FEATURE REQUEST for Affinity Designer 2, Vector Eraser
Nice job on Affinity 2.0. I already purchased all apps.
FEATURE REQUEST: It would be nice to see a type of VECTOR ERASER in Affinity Designer 2 that would allow us to quickly erase INTERSECTING LINES. This can dramatically increase productivity with illustrations.
See attached video.
Thanks!!! I am enjoying 2.0 !!!

Artwo reacted to craiigman in [Photo] Develop/Raw adjustment for non Raw images?
I have seen the video showing the adjustable Develop using a RAW image, however within photoshop this is an option on any smart object image. I have just added an image and I want to add a develop adjustment, the only way I can do this is by rasterising the image, then when in develop I no longer have the option to change the output and then be able to make changes.
Is there not a way to use the develop options on any image/layer and be able to go back into it again?

Artwo reacted to eross21 in AutoTrace (convert raster image to vector)
maybe I'm missing it, but is there an option to open a JPEG, or bitmap image
and trace,or convert it to a vector file for further editing? If not there should be one, it would be a great option. even if it had only a few modes like black and white, and 5 color
it would make me convince me to convert from adobe illustrator

Artwo reacted to Distanzia in 8 Years Later, Still NO AutoTrace (convert raster image to vector)
Here's a thread from 2014... It's crazy to think that you would have implemented this by now (2022) unless you're going the Reason Studios route, "We know what you need, you don't!" unless I'm missing something....

Artwo reacted to Jim57 in My only wish (or 2)
I switched to Affinity in 2019 because I new once I left Mac Mojave my Adobe software was going to be abandoned and I refuse to reside and pay "rent" in the Adobe kingdom in the clouds. I'm retired now and use the software as a hobby, and I would like to see the following considered:
1. Permanent (non-disappearing) curves. I do more work with curves than masks. I am so tired of having to continually having to remember to dupe my curve before making a selection out of it in order to have the curve available for future use. There may be other workarounds for this dilemma, but really, should there have to be any workarounds for this? I know I can make a mask after making the curve, but if adjustments are needed, I would rather make them from the curve than refine the mask. I have issues with masking that I won't waste time going into here.
2. I see Photo V2 (haven't opened Designer or Publisher yet) appears to have a more robust Open Recent document retention. I would like to have the option to both limit the number of recent docs shown and/or turn off recent docs altogether. As it is now, I have to remember to go to the file menu and select clear menu. Why wouldn't I want to have quick access to recent files? Because I don't need to and it's just my preference. I'm a control freak on my computer and if I can't control a function I don't like it - plain and simple.

Artwo reacted to Distill7 in Feature Request: Mesh Warp - Add "Shift" to constraint handle drag
I use the Mesh Warp to extend the background of some images. But there is no option to constraint the handle drag horizontally or vertically like in the perspective warp or most of the other dragging tool. It's much a needed option, especially on image that fit horizontally or vertically only. I don't think this should be a hard one, so please add in the next update.

Artwo reacted to Mark Oehlschlager in [Designer 2.0.0 v2 release] Cylinder Presets for Vector Warps
This is a request for both a vertical and a horizontal cylinder preset for the Vector Warp feature.
The use case need is for wrapping vector art around a cylinder (bottle/can) object where the art correctly diminishes and foreshortens as it wraps around the cylindrical object. Presently, one can start with the Fisheye preset and make adjustments, but it would be a timesaver if there were vertical and horizontal cylinder presets as well.
Additionally, would it be possible for there to be rotation and perspective parameters to get the mesh to match the orientation of the photographed bottle/can/column?

Artwo reacted to Phojoegraphy in Free Transform, Perspective & Warp Tools
I saw the 1.9 update and immediately ran to the forum to see if they added any of this... Lots of really nice features added across all apps, but this has become a ridiculously huge glaring omission. 😐
