  1. Thanks for more details! But one has to admit, that in the first screenshot of mine, there are actually two circles, the selected value circle and the "fancy" noise/opacity switcher, that makes it less intuitive. Edit: Also searching for noise keeps bringing me results for affinity photo in the affinity help site
  2. Maaan, thank you! Also: Affinity Team: What the heck of a usability thing is this?! But at least this is documented now and the next time I gonna forget where it was, I hope google remembers ...
  3. In designer 1 I distinctly remember that colours had a noise slider. When I check the colour tab, there is only opacity: Is there a way to get noise back? It was actually quite nice to use. Also: Why does gradient still have the noise slider? It makes a very strange use case IMHO. I did a search but could not get a hold on whether it has been moved or deprecated or something in between.
  4. Nice hint. Haven't thought about replacing placeholders afterwords. Makes it a little annoying to use but would be a valid solution indeed. Thanks for the idea! 👍
  5. Just to follow up: The behaviour is not fixed, right? Because in latest Apub 2 the behaviour, that @walt.farrell mentioned, is still there. Newlines in the merged output seem to be filtered
  6. Didn't work. The vectorscope when dealing with RAW seems to be applied to the pixel area, which does not consider the mask. I've been working with vectorscope for non RAW files exactly like you mentioned. But I always remained in the photo persona. Actually I've broken the vectorscope now multiple times trying to do the thing you mentioned. As soon as masks are in a RAW file the vectorscope sometimes just stops updating altogether even rendering the wrong scope (e.g. histogram lines with vector scope image data). Very weird. Seems like I've found a dark place in AP2 that could use some maintenance 😅🤷
  7. I basically agree with this statement but changing exposure, blackpoint and adjusting the white balance temperature and tint is much more convenient in develop persona when dealing with RAW files. My current solution is actually using the crop tool in develop persona. I wasn't aware that this is undoable when I click the hand again and allows me to actually crop down to skin tones, adjust them and then manually recrop to original size, all in develop person. Cropping back to 100% is a bit hacky but worth the pain.
  8. Check these last 2 minutes (just hit play), pretty cool thing. Vector scope is great before applying color grades or if you want natural skin tones. Works in video as well in photos.
  9. I have raw files, which I develop. Using photo persona is not convenient because accessing all relevant RAW image operations is AFAIK not possible there
  10. Hi, after I learned about vectorscope for skin tones I want to use it everywhere, where skin is shown. Super useful tool without mingling around with color calibrated EIZOs anymore 🤔😅. Now when I have RAW files in the develop persona of AP2: Is there a way I can mask out most of the image? I see the vectorscope skin line but since I cannot mask out everything, that is not skin in the image, it makes it harder for me to find a good adjustment, when in the develop persona. Masking in photo persona and then going to develop seems not to honor the mask Hints appreciated
  11. Ok, here is the repro. File attached. next_regex_bug.afpub This is my starting position. I marked the strong elements in the text Now I hit replace all and the glyph range of strong changes. To be honest, this is the point I really regret choosing Publisher over InDesign (sadly not the first time) as I am now again vendor-locked and cannot export anything out of APub 2 that allows me to further process the data in other tools without manually redoing hours of work. (I know bugs are happening and what doesn't work for one customer, works for another and Serif is always committed to the cause, which I followed a long way but at the end results matter) [This last bit is written out of frustration, and while I do not expect that "everything" gets magically fixed all I can do is give a sincere feedback and hope for adjustments further down the road. I know you are working hard on the Affinity Suite.]
  12. I found a work around: Using (.+) instead of (.*) actually works as expected, but only for paragraphs. For Character styles it is still broken Yay. I wish the 4 hours of manual labour wouldn't be necessary but I am pretty sure I just saved many more hours for my next step. All is moot. I found another bug. Will create a repro
  13. This will mess up all my character styles that are "Strong" but do not match \w. What do you get during replacement when you keep your regex, set Replacement Character Style to Strong as well and then place a whitespace in the word `ante` making it `an te`? Hitting replacing all really causes havok in the file. Before: After: This looks like a disaster to be honest. With no proper way to diff my apub files beside exporting to pdf and version them this appears to me to be a "very" dangerous regex quirk. It would be somewhat ok to get `an te` having multiple <b>s resulting in `<b>an</b> <b>te</b>` but carrying the second match of the first Character style to the next match and replacing it is a little bit too weird. Relevant (Original)
  14. It is a typo. I meant $1, but even a replacement by plain $ would be ok, if it would actually replace it.
  15. broken_regex_replace.afpub Simple repro cases is attached. If I search for a style (=Strong) with regex like in this image there appear two locations where APub has found them. They are correct. However, double clicking on the location does not cause the main view to focus at this location ("jump to" seems broken). Replacing the match does also not work. When I hit `Replace all` nothing happens. Is there a workaround for this? I have 400 pages of styles for which I need markup ... Despite some short comings APub2 is really an improvement. Thank you 👍 Edit: I thought I found a workaround [only for paragraph styles]. Using the regex (.+) -> plus, not asterisk for matches. This seems to work on paragraphs well but not on character styles but this still mess my entire document up because all character styles are not updated. I will post a repro bellow.
  16. Ok, funny part: It works now, it worked when I opened this thread but it is poor UI design plus maybe an optimization issue. The bottom line: I export a PDF that has two high res layers with a mask on it. When I click export to PDF the dialog closes and then nothing happens. No export dialog appears, the cpu load on my machine for Designer is at about 2-3%, so it appears that nothing is happening. I even can sort of click around in the designer, although with issues that I've mentioned above. My observation from the program point of view: Designer is not dead, it seams, that it takes a very long time processing the high res layers with the masks (maybe rasterizing). It takes a lot of time, much longer than rasterizing the layer manually. And it does it's rasterizing async in a separate thread/task that does not block the UI but blocks underlying operations (that's why I can change visibility in the layers panel, but the main view does not reflect this change). Some time later, which can be a minute or three, the processing finishes, yielding the work to the exporter job, which then in turn spawns the export progress bar and does the pdflib write to disk. If Serif give me a private upload ability, I will upload a file with only the layers I've mentioned where the issue can be observed.
  17. I dug deeper into it and found an issue with a layer that had a mask. Rasterizing it fixed the issue. I am looking into an repro case but currently the layer uses licenced material which I cannot share. And I doubt that pdflib is the problem here. I assume an internal exception in designer that breaks some internal state. When the export fails, I no longer can work with designer itself, e.g. I cannot hide layers any more, when I click on the hide button in the layer window, the visible/invisible state toggles, but the main view of the document does no longer update.
  18. Hi I am trying to export a designer file into PDF but it fails. One time I got a The pdflib log file doesn't say much and after one export affinity designer is in an inconsistent state. It shows my file as modified but hitting save or ctrl+s doesn't change anything. I've also tried exporting text as curves only. Are there more verbose log options for publisher? I've checked the Log.txt from Designer but nothing of use there pdflib.log
  19. Hi, renaming and moving anchors seems to be broken. The sample apub file and an animation is attached. I am on the latest Apub2 version. I have a file coming from Apub 1 and whenever I try to use anchors they behave very inconsistently. Please check the gif inside the zip. Changing hierarchies of anchors then renaming them sometimes simply reset the anchors name and hierarchy position. I have over a 100 anchors in my document that behave in that way, which makes it very hard to work with them. Since some are already used as hyperlinks I would prefer not to spend a couple of hours again to redo everything. anchor_test.afpub anchors-anim.zip
  20. I don't think so. One of my experiments was to add a custom dictionary (the one I linked above) but to delete all contents (except some control statement at the top of it) and add Redensart to it. The file looked like this ISO8859-1 COMPOUNDLEFTHYPHENMIN 2 COMPOUNDRIGHTHYPHENMIN 2 re1dens1art With this custom dict I noticed after a restart that all other words were no longer automatically hyphened. Only "Redensart" but by changing the width the text box sometimes the word was properly hyphened like "Re-densart" or "Redens-art" and in some cases back to "Redensar-t". So the colon might interfere with the hyphenation logic
  21. Is the expected behaviour of APub to ignore any non word characters when constructing a word that is then hyphenated?
  22. I am using APub on Windows 11. The screenshot was done while I've been already using the german hyph_de_DE.dict which I placed in a subdirectory de_DE in a folder that I set vial Preferences > Tools > Additional dictionary folder. But the spelling was already out of the box broken for me, that's why I went on looking for a better dictionary. I also added the word re1dens1art manually into the file I downloaded. The docs are 1:1 text of this thread:
  23. Sorry, too many assumptions in my head. I am using Windows (I updated my signature) and it seems to me, that APub handles insertion of special chars into the section text field different on Windows than on Mac.
  24. It seems so 🤷‍♂️. I work arounded this by many many whitespace and it seams to work
