Any news on this topic? Publisher now has a preflight (checklist). After a long test phase, I would like to use Publisher in a productive environment for a book production, but I am worried that the still somewhat unreliable colour management will blow up in my face (sorry Affinity, if I create a cmyk document and I have 100% black in the font and select a different colour profile when exporting the PDF, the black font is converted to 4c, which does not inspire confidence). Do you have any tips on what I should look out for in the publisher, which was of course no problem before with Indesign?

ok, that's right, I just tested it, but in my entire career I have never coloured the actual artboard/layout, I always set an extra background. Checkbox without function

sorry it's not so easy and change the Language, but here you can see it's work for PDFs (btw – I choose a print Format and must change from rgb to cmyk 🤣 without Artboard and with Artboard bleed.mp4 bleed2.mp4

As I said, it works as it should for the PDF export (for print). But in other file formats (which I sometimes have to use) the bleed option is there, but it only exports a white area. But the fact that the bleed is not visible during editing is really also a problem.

I also struggle with this bleed problem for a long time in my professional workflow. Please @Sean P that can't be serious that you can check bleed in the export options that is a white area for the print. This must be change. Edit: for all export options, not only PDF (where it works like expected)

I also miss this option with alt to copy an drag a layer for a fluid workflow, any news here?

the 10 year old logo pdf I got 100% never face the publisher. If I just open the file, the special characters is not visible, it only shows, when I start work in the text box, but after that, it shows all the time.

ok, and why is it visible in Affinity Designer when I only can hide it in Publisher? 😵

Hi, does anyone have an idea where the § comes from and how I can hide it. A logo I got as a PDF has this in all the text boxes as info and it drives me crazy.

@Callum in Designer 1.10.1 still had this issue, open a new document add text and there is always a § at the text end and · between the spaces. Can't find a menu or setting for "special characters" in Designer

I'm very confused right now, this worked fine until now, what's going on that it ignores the decimal point in line spacing ???? no matter if dot or comma, see video. Affinity Designer 1.9.3 designer_comma.mp4

Hi @SPaceBar thanks for asking, just tested it with the current 1.9.3 version of APup, unfortunately when updating with another master page that has different image frames (like in my video), the aspect ratio of the images is still changed. This feature would be super sweet if it would work without errors.

hmm, I've checked here. On OSX 10.13.6 with APUp 1.9.3 no problems. But the proporties confused me, see in my Version (Seitenbreite = wide and Seitenhöhe = height)

Hayyyaaaa, just ran into this problem as well while doing a fun project with AfPub. I almost used Publisher for an international book project that is being designed with OPI data and will be updated with fine data later. Luckily I didn't start it in Publisher, that would have been an absolute horror with a 90% image content... and my colleagues would have killed me 😱 Such detail Serif should better keep in mind, deciding between serious Adobe competitor or just another gimp/paint.

Hi Affinity Team, this simple cannot be the intended function of max size and smart master pages. An accidental change of the image proportions can lead to real trouble with "some jobs" if the client sees this in the print product. Such (really) great features should work (with your claim), I must be able to trust my layout program, that it can not come to hidden mistakes, which I must later laboriously rework/find out. Again a more detailed video in english and the file to test/see it myself. At the end I wanted to test again the max fit with change of the picture box works and was then even more confused that it does not work and then with another picture box, with the identical setting it works then nevertheless. properties2.mp4 1_9_1_test_smart_master.afpub

Hi, step by step I'm beginning to understand the weird way Publisher handles images (only Image and Image Box that don't understand EXIF etc.). After trying the promising advantage of Smart Master Pages, I was a bit disappointed. I load an image that is set to Max fit and change the image box it is scaled but not proportionally. This should definitely not be the case... or? see video proporties.mp4

please try it, let me know when you've success to create a shortcut for max fit yeah I know, this is the Affinity workflow for video tutorials, oh and if I don't have images in the first place and improvise with placeholderboxes. If you create a dynamic layout that not planed before, you open the App, normally you just dragNdrop the images for the whole chapter from Finder, then choose/test different opportunities and work in progress. I know everybody have a different workflow, I always prefer the most effective one.

Yeah, look at you first screenshot, the value is "linked", so thats mean if you change the upper value, the bottom one must changes the same value, right? then why ... or? _______ a simple question of probability. In how many cases is distortion a "default" PREDICTION? As suggested, if there is a checkbox where you can lock the image ratio, everyone is happy. have a nice sunny sunday

@Dan C thank you, I believe a shortcut for this option is a great opportunity to save time in doing a layout with many images. --- because it is not possible to load images in a image box with drag and drop

Hi @Dan C thanks for your feedback, I understand what you mean, but really, in which case is it important that the image is distorted? It makes no sense in a layout programm. I hope in future there come a option in the scale option to really lock the properties, because if you look closely in your screenshot, the menu is locked the properties, thats simple a false information. A normal expection is, if you lock the properties, there is no way to distort a image.

Hi, I wonder where I can find the shortcut option to the image properties like max fit and so on? I can't find it in the short cut list (a short cut search would be very nice 🙂 ) but it also have a context menu, so a shortcut must be possible. I already have bigger thumbnails in place images Window (with space preview better as Adobe Bridge ). Then a shortcut to instant change to a image box (works with multiple selection). Now if i had a shortcut to fit the images I would be verrrryyyyyyy happy for a fast workflow
