  1. I am really frustrated at this point. I have installed pl_PL dictionary.  I need to check my document which is ready to publish but every time (sry) I open the file and try to check spelling and change the word my publisher crashes. It is extremely frustrating. No idea what to do now.

As long as you have the placed images as image layers, switching the document color mode will not convert the colors, so if you have an sRGB image in CMYK color mode, its visual outlook will be adjusted to simulate the document CMYK color target. When you change it back to sRGB mode, it will once again be shown in full sRGB and typically more saturated than in CMYK mode. If you want an RGB image to look more or less the same as it looks in CMYK mode, rasterize the image while you are in CMYK mode. Now the image pixels are in CMYK color mode (which is a destrucitve change). Now if you switch the document to RGB color mode, the image pixels will be converted to sRGB, and it would look pretty much the same in both color modes. But each time you switch the color mode, the image pixels would actually get converted, which is not recommended.

Top half: rasterized in CMYK mode, converted to RGB by switching the document color mode. Gottom half: the original RGB image in sRGB color space.

Tahnk You so much. Well, it helped however I don't understand why exactly.

I took one flower. Each is made by separate layers (color, outline, other tweaks). I rasterize it. ( why doas it exectly mean? i was already an pixel art not vector). Then I set whole document as sRGB. That flower now looks good (same desaturated color as in CMYK). So the result is ok. But I lost all editing options as leyers are now rastrized and merged.

It's not so straightforward with images - there can be colour profile interactions between the document and the images that can inflate the size, if the profiles have to be included separately for example vs the whole document being in device CMYK.

I'm not expert enough to fully explain it, I can point you in a general direction though - look into your image profiles and whether you are converting them on export.

I don't understand to be honest. I guess that if I link  images with sRGB profile to document, they are converted to export color space (CMYK) during the process. All images should be converted for export.

I set document space to CMYK, I import some drawings, images, I add some colors etc. It look ok in Publisher. Now (due to size of the file) I would like to export it as sRGB BUT I WOULD LIKE all media to look the same as edited in cmyk.

  4. Shape builder is not the only tool missing for me. I put it in the same level of need a as warp or blend tool. No mirror? It’s like a car without wheels.
Ok, I have to admit that Affinity apps are cheap but on the other I would define their develop stage as alpha ( tool box is half way there). I am not a pro, I don’t earn money with illustration but I still miss functionality in many cases. I am ready to pay twice for important tools and performance so this investment make sense.

  5. It a tool which lets You combine different shapes (add or subtract) in one object without using many boolean cuts, just by clicking and dragging. So when diffrent and multiple objects intersects which each other they can be added or substracted, and new shape can be created based on their outlines etc. I guess this doesn’t explain it nicely, english is not my native language. Best to see this on youtube.

  6. System - Windows 10.

Specs are i7 6700k, gtx 970, 16 gb ram ddr4, ssd 256. I have many but it is not huge amount, maybe 200-300. Pretty old pc but it works with ie Blender just fine and other 2D software without issues.
I have many slowdowns, designer  just stop working for 20-30 seconds after launch and doing sone basic operations or undos. I find affinity software pretty slow and not responsive especially considering features.

  7. Well, I bougth it couple days ago and so far i regret. Price is low but I strugle to do some basic stuff which should be done much, much faster. I experience so much missing features during simple stuff. I was looking for simple mirror or symmetry option- not there? Wtf! And I am not a professional just a person who would like to some simple stuff and even with that I encountered many missing features.

  8. Heh. Nice one. So why they stop develop , why it lacks such important features? Huge potential with this software, many people ready to change. No roadmap, still at the same point.
Well, I am not a developer, but i don’t think that vector graphics is more complicated then 3D with all complicated areas around. Therefore smaller team should be enough, taking into account how long it takes. I really like affinity but I just can’t understand why i take so long. If they need developers maybe they should start some kickstarter campaign etc to hire more to develop faster. I think that many current users will pay in advance for exchange for 2.0 with more important features.

  9. Well, I follow the development of affinity for some time. I had 2  trials for 30 and 90 days and I am really disappointed about the lack of basic features for so long. I like the software but it is still not developed in the right pace. I honestly see not many changes since my first trial long time ago. Especially in core features.  And this is really strange. I am a Blender user and it is being develop at a speed of light in comparison, new features are added constantly, bugs are being fixed if any, there is a clear roadmap, clear communication. And it is open source, free program which is absolutely great. It is 3D not vector graphics, and I assume it is much more complicated and advanced.

Honestly I feel that maybe they have some strange agreement etc with Adobe to block these features so people will still use Adobe. Something like that. I think maybe Adobe is somehow behind it. Otherwise I see no reason. With the additional core features added (image trace, shape building,  blend, warping, transform and perspectiv etc) it will be obvious choice for people even if the price would be a bit higher. It means a lot earning for Affinity. So there must be some reason...

  10. Hello,

I receive an marketing email that designer and photo are available once more as a trial version. The email mentioned that both are available for users who already had a trial version before. I cannot download a trial and get messege "You’ve already signed up for the trial using this email address" so I am not able to use trial version once more.
