  1. Dear Dan, As requested, I've been experimenting. All the permutations are listed below. If a save a file from Libre Office or MS Word to a normal document folder, this has the following permissions: Everyone System Beal (Lenovo\Beal) HomeUsers (Lenovo\HomeUsers) Administrators (Lenove\Administrators) If a save a file from Libre Office or MS Word to the desktop, this has the following permissions: System Beal (Lenovo\Beal) Administrators (Lenove\Administrators) If I save a file from AffPub to either a document folder or the desktop, this has the following permissions: System Beal (Lenovo\Beal) Administrators (Lenove\Administrators) If I export the file from AffPub to a document folder as a PDF file, this has the following permissions: Everyone System Beal (Lenovo\Beal) HomeUsers (Lenovo\HomeUsers) Administrators (Lenove\Administrators) If I export the file from AffPub to the desktop as a PDF file, this has the following permissions: System Beal (Lenovo\Beal) Administrators (Lenove\Administrators) I hope this is helpful and you can make some sense of it. Regards, Alasdair
  2. Dear Dan, The account is an Administrator. Saving to Desktop gives the same limited access permissions as saving to a hard drive Documents folder. Regards, Alasdair
  3. Dear Dan, Thanks for your email. After submitting my query I did some experiments and worked out what is happening, so I shall start by listing these. However for completeness I have also entered answers to your questions below. As an experiment I created four test files: file 1 was created on the laptop and saved from AffPub to the desktop computer; file 2 was created similarly but then closed on the laptop, opened on the desktop, amended and the revised version saved; file 3 was created using AffPub on the desktop computer; and file 4 was a wordprocessor file created on the desktop computer using Libre Office. Results: all files could be opened on the desktop computer. AffPub on the laptop could open files 1 and 2 but not file 3. Libre Office on the laptop had no problem opening file 4. I then looked at each file's details on the desktop computer and inspected their sharing properties. Files 1, 2 and 4 all had permission for anyone to alter but File 3 only had permission for desktop users to alter. I then added the missing permissions to file 3. I was then able to open file 3 from the laptop. I made a test file using Affinity Designer (version 1.8.5.703) and it showed the same behaviour as AffPub. Therefore it appears that files created with all my other programmes automatically have permission for anyone on the network to alter them and this also happens with files created with AffPub on the laptop but files created using AffPub on the desktop computer have more limited permissions. Fortunately the missing permissions can be added manually, providing a workaround to the problem. However it is odd and it would be nice not to have to do this. The network runs through a BT Smarthub 2 router, with a wired connection to the desktop computer and wireless connection to the laptop. When working on the laptop I open and save files directly over the network to the desktop computer hard drive. When working on the desktop computer I save files directly to its hard drive. As explained above, the difficulty with using the laptop to access files created on the desktop computer does not occur with other programmes such as Libre Office or Microsoft Office. The problem applies only to Affinity Publisher and Designer files. Both the laptop and the desktop computers are running version 1.8.5.703.
  4. Dear Walt, Both machines are running Windows 10. This problem only occurs with Affinity Publisher files - there are no similar problems opening files created with other programmes.
  5. I have a laptop with network access to files on our main computer. If I open Publisher on the laptop and save a file to the main computer, I can then open the file from either the laptop or the main computer. However if I create and save a file on the main computer, I can only open it on the main computer - if I try to open it on the laptop I get a message saying I do not have access to do this. What is the problem?
  6. I think this may be a new problem with Publisher but I am not certain. I tried creating the document again from scratch and it worked right this time but I still don't know what was wrong with the previous file. However when I exported the booklet as a PDF this came out with the front and back covers printed as separate pages (i.e. 3 pages total instead of 2). I worked around this by creating the PDF with another programme (PDF Factory) but it would be nice to be able to produce a correct PDF booklet file directly from Publisher.
  7. I'm having a similar problem: I am trying to create a four page A5 booklet (i.e. printed double-sided one sheet of folded A4). I have created the document with 'facing pages' and with the pages defined in the spread as A5. However although the first and last pages appear a the correct size, no matter what I do the sheet occupied by the pair of centre pages is resized to to 160mmx220mm. I can't find a solution in the Help document.
