  1. From my side, I just give up on Designer. It is simply impossible to use it as part of a cartographic software system without this vector fill tool.
  2. As far as this thread is concerned, you can use and create vector patterns with Vectorstyler. I have started playing with it and it seems pretty powerful. Far more than with Inkscape and of course than with AD which only allows you to use raster patterns.
  3. Well, that's debatable as well. There are basic features that one would expect to find in a professional software. It's like purchasing an alternative to Excel and finding out that this alternative cannot create pivot table. What would be the point? That would not even be an alternative. Wait and see... In the meantime, I purchased VectorStyler and I can now add vector pattern fills to my maps.
  4. I created a first map using pixel patterns. The result looks ok as long as you don't have to share the file with someone else, and that you don't decide to change the pattern color at the last moment. It helps, but it can definitely not replace vector patterns. I was disappointed as well with this new release and I hope this feature will be added soon. Like really soon.
  5. +1 As Inkscape doesn't work very well on Mac, I decided to purchase Designer yesterday, assuming that it would have vector fill. I'm horrified to hear that this is not the case 😞
