RendCycle got a reaction from Daniel Finch in Merging a few shapes into a single shape/object (not grouping)?
Got this answer from StackExchange which worked for me:
"If there are 2 pixel layers. Select them both, group and then rasterize. The result is 1 pixel layer."

RendCycle got a reaction from walt.farrell in Importing & Exporting Saved Studio Presets
Bought mine directly from Serif. Yes, your suggestion worked! I just copied the "Custom" folder and pasted it in the same directory but under the other account Username. Thank you very much sir! :-)

RendCycle reacted to walt.farrell in Importing & Exporting Saved Studio Presets
For Affinity applications purchased directly from Serif, the studio presets seem to be saved as named directories under C:\Users\<your-username>\AppData\Roaming\Affinity\<application>\1.0\Workspaces\Custom\<persona>\ (where <persona> may be an internal name for the Persona, not the normally externalized name, e.g., Vector for the Designer Persona).
In the absence of any formal support for exporting/importing the studio presets, you could try copying that information from one of your user accounts to the other one.
For purchases from the Microsoft Store they're probably in a slightly different location. See this FAQ:

I don't usually comment but all I can say is Amazing! and big Thank you! Affinity People for your continued support...It is obvious that a lot of people are struggling with current events!...
These offers do not apply to me...which does not concern me in the slightest...The applications are a bargain at full price!...but it's not about the price....It is about what you can achieve... I am just relieved that I had the incentive to engage with this software in the first instance...into my fifth year now...with over 200 drawings and 1000's of brushes and assets!... none of which would have been completed without these apps!
I cannot believe that there would be any negative response... to offering software that is innovative, evolved so rapidly at a discount...

The lock down has an important impact on some people.... talk to your doctor about it micornelius. I wish you get your life back some day.
You can opt out of the mailing list and... of this forum too.

In the email you received you have the option to opt-out of future emails (at the bottom)
Just don't come back and complain when you miss out on something you wanted, like Version 2.0 at 50% off

Someone in your marketing department needs a promotion
Please keep sending me emails like this. 50% off everything in the Affinity store is a great way to reward your customers. Especially so, during the pandemic.

RendCycle reacted to Ash in We want to help (again)
Hi All,
When much of the world went into lockdown last year we put a few things in place to try to offer some support to the creative community. In the big scheme of things they were fairly small gestures I guess, but we were quite overwhelmed by the positive feedback we received about it.
In particular the 90-day trial of all our apps provided a big help for people who may have lost access to their normal tools through their work or university, and offering a deep 50% discount on our apps was also greatly appreciated.
We reverted back to our normal trial length and pricing as those initial restrictions eased and the situation felt like it was improving. However here in the UK we are back in full national lockdown and in many countries restrictions are tight and livelihoods continue being severely affected as we deal with the second wave of this virus. For that reason, we have decided to re-introduce both our 90-day trial and 50% discount on all our apps and digital content (unfortunately the relatively small margins we have on workbooks means we cannot offer the discount on those). We have also reset the 90-day trial so anyone who took advantage of it before can do so again.
The thoughts of all of us at Serif remain with everyone affected by this crisis and we wish you all the best.

RendCycle reacted to Andy Somerfield in WebP in Affinity Photo
Morning,
We have decided to implement WebP export for (hopefully) 1.9.
The decision is not solely because it is now supported in Safari - although that doesn't hurt.
In the time I have been working here at Serif (15+ years), there have been hundreds of "JPEG / PNG killer" file formats announced - not a single one has succeeded. If we had supported each one, we would now have a massive amount of export code to maintain which was used by either 1 or 2 people, or more likely nobody. We don't like to remove features which we have added - so we would be stuck with the problem forever.
We generally don't implement new export formats unless a.) They are old but have some unique technical feature which is genuinely useful or b.) They are new and have either a good chance of achieving widespread adoption or have some unique technical feature which we think has merit.
WebP is being implemented because we think it has a high chance of widespread adoption.
Hope this helps,
Andy.

"To support the winner of a race only after the race is quite opportunistic. Innovation and progress comes from belief in something."
Opportunistic it certainly is - and I make no apology for it!
I don't consider Photo to be a driving force for adoption of 3rd party file formats - otherwise I would have been pushing JPEG-XR for the last 10 years (in my opinion, it is clearly the best general purpose image storage format which supports HDR and can do CMYK etc. - sadly nobody else in the world cares about it!).
"Since the formats rarely (typically never) change, it is a question of implementation. Since it is basically just import and export, these are just entries in a drop-down list, which - in a modular concept - is self-maintaining."
I agree that updating the 3rd party library code is not a big deal - they rarely update unless some vulnerability is found. The problem is more with UI - each format has a cost (for each platform) in that respect for initial implementation, and a cost for ongoing maintenance as we expand to other platforms or adopt new UI technology on existing platforms.
To be honest, this is likely to become a moot point in future (as we hope to introduce support for 3rd party plugins for file I/O at some stage). We aren't there yet, but until we are we are likely to continue to apply the same loose "rules" I describe above.
Thanks again,
Andy.

Maybe they could add a pair of < & > buttons to scroll through the file formats?

RendCycle reacted to Lelopes in Upgrade Pricing Policy
Please do not shame our friend's question. It is a very valid point. I want to buy affinity, but it seems pretty close to a new major version and i don't want to pay while i 'am note sure i won't end up paying 1.5x the full price to get it. (50% off in their current promotion + 100% in a 6 - 9 months new release). Specially with the current economicovids.

RendCycle reacted to Pšenda in Multiple Words Users Folder Support in Windows 10 for Affinity Designer
For test:
I have file with space in Name
Make file shortcuts in File Explorer,
and look into Properties:
:
Windows automatically encapsulates the file name, including its path, in quotation marks to eliminate space dividing issues.
This encapsulation must be performed on the calling application. If it does not do it automatically (the passed / filename parameters are encapsulated), then it would like to try to set it somewhere (as in the specified file shortcuts).

RendCycle reacted to vwatson in Affinity affiliate scheme
Affiliate programs are just another form of marketing. What might otherwise be spent on ads would go as a commission to the affiliate instead. It can be a win-win if the affiliates bring in new people who might not hear of the software from other channels. It's not a big deal to me. I just thought if there was one, I'd take advantage of it.

RendCycle reacted to walt.farrell in How Transfer Licency When Re-Installing Windows
When reinstalling Windows you will probably lose all your customized settings for the Affinity applications, including any brushes or assets you may have installed. So if I were reinstalling I would back those up to a disk that won't be affected by the reinstall so they can be restored later.
The easiest way to do that is by backing up the "user" directory for each of the Affinity applications you own. The top part of the FAQ article below shows how to find that directory. Just
make a copy before reinstalling Windows, then reinstall Windows, then download and reinstall the Affinity applications, then start each Affinity application, and provide the product key if needed, and close the application. Then restore the saved "user" folder to the proper location.

RendCycle reacted to walt.farrell in Is Affinity Designer even developed anymore?
Welcome to the Serif Affinity forums, HypoSim.
Yes, Designer is still being developed. All you have to do is look at the release notes for each of the releases, and you will see many major and minor enhancements have been made over that time period. You can find them here.
And the next release, 1.9, is in beta testing now with additional enhancements.
That does not mean that Serif will provide all the functions that everyone is asking for; they have their own plans and their own priorities.

RendCycle reacted to Old Bruce in Working with vector art using Affinity Designer and Cartoon Animator 4 Pipeline?
Seems to me that it should work if all that is needed is proper layer naming. The manual states that it is compatible with Photoshop file Editors. Export your Designer or Photo documents as WhateverName.PSD files and it should be good to go. You may need to use the Final Cut Psd export version.
