when I have created a document in Affinity Designer and save it on the desktop, can I display the document by pressing the spacebar in the finder. A small preview is displayed in the Finder. Is there a way to display the preview window to zoom in to view the Affinity Designer document? Unfortunately, the preview is very small and very blurry. Is it possible to change this? Hey, I've seen many users complaining that can't find the new Tool in the new version of Affinity Designer 2.1

It is not very clear that this tool is available inside the Dock panel.

I made a tutorial to help these users to solve this.
 
 

Yeah - it's cool. To be honest this was something we had on the list to investigate for 2.1 but we ran out of time (and wasn't considered as critical as some other fixes). Think the issue was with us adding the ability to have tearable document tabs in V2 which can all be separately minimised, but agree the desired behaviour would be if the main UI is hidden then hitting the icon should bring that back up. Sure we'll have it sorted in 2.2 - and if you are on the beta an update including that might be available quite soon

An update to the beta has just been made available which we are expecting to be the build we release publicly very soon! This means you can update your beta version to be the same code as what we will be our initial public release of 2.1.
We will therefore now have a period where the latest beta version is the same as the release version. That will remain the case until we begin a fresh beta which will either be a patch to 2.1 if we feel it's needed, or hopefully moving straight to the first beta of 2.2. At that point you will be able to update the beta versions you currently have installed for that latest update to test. 
During the period that 2.1.0.1799 is in sync with the release build (when 2.1 is made public) it's up to you if you want to continue to report any bugs in the beta forums or the main bug reporting forums.
I want to take this opportunity to thank you all so much for being so actively involved with the testing of 2.1 - along with all the new features and improvements we have got through a huge number of fixes, and that's only been possible with having so many of you putting it through it's paces. It's made a huge difference, and we're very much looking forward to working with you all on the next beta!

Just adding a few variations and options to @Old Bruce's post. using the same technique... one thing that isn't currently possible is to have twin dotted lines, twin dashed yes but not vertically aligned twin dotted lines...

I cannot proceed with the selected color in soft colors in the Color (wheel (triangle and square)) panel. When the Lightness (L) value exceeds 95%, I cannot keep the color.

I've not been able to replicate this issue on a Ventura Mac yet, the Character panel updates as expected when switching between art text layers, I also tried this with a few of the fonts I could find freely available from your screen recording. Have you found any solid recipe/steps for re-creating this issue? Does it only affect certain fonts or does it only happen when the text layers are created and assigned a font in a certain way?
Any additional detail you can provide along with a sample file where this issue happens would be great.

My observation is a bit different. While scrolling rapidly through the Font Family panel, and clicking on successive font options, from time to time, the screen freezes with the apple rainbow circle for several seconds.

Yes, I have that too. I think it has to do with the font.

Why can this not be fixed?  This has been happening since V.2 was released.  
Every time I work with multiple layers of text, when I attempt to select a "smaller height" text, the larger always gets selected.  It's the biggest beating ever.  This never happened on V.1.....

Erm, well you need to get people you are collaborating with using Affinity and then deal with native Affinity files until export time There's all kinds of examples of things which could go wrong if you are exporting to PDF and then expecting other people to edit properties of things - there's hundreds of attributes, properties, and other features which Affinity supports and PDF does not natively.

And balanced dashed lines is one of them - PDF has no concept of it. The best you can do is split a rectangle into the 4 separate sides with each side having the dash / gap settings Affinity calculated as needing to make it balanced. But it's no longer a single shape, or easily editable as even if you select all 4 sides in a different PDF editor if you change the width or gap distance it will all become unbalanced again.

A few new features have been added to the stroke panel...
1. As has been commonly requested we have now added the ability to 'balance' dashed lines using a new toggle button on stroke panel. This means that the dash pattern is automatically rescaled between any cusps in a curve - making things such as corners of a rectangle or the start and end of a stroke look correct.

2. An additional dash and gap have now been added to build up more complex dashed line patterns (now giving you 3 dash and 3 gaps) making, among other things, two dot chain patterns possible. On desktop you can also click-drag the dash and gap indicator as shown to adjust the value. 

3. A new button has been added to clear any arrowheads on a stroke - just making it more convenient than having to open the drop downs to set both ends to "None".
 

 
 

Yes, I'd like this ...  I keep an old version of Illustrator to run the Scriptographer plugin ... I wrote a small script in that which takes the selected objects and repeats/scatters them along a path ... an 0n-the-fly vector brush creator.

@Ash is it possible to have a feature like: Quick way to Export PNG images from the Layers panel While using Designer or Raster Persona?

Like clicking Right-click over the layer or group and then export seamlessly.

This would save tons of time while exporting simple assets to clients.
I found the need to go to the Export Persona, Slicing objects, then export slices to many steps for simple exports.

I believe this would be a nice simple addition to the Affinity apps

Yes you are correct, it is just a small workflow improvement we have been asked for.
 
Yes this is definitely on our radar as required, but will not be in this update unfortunately.

Don't know if this helps  - but you can create an asset in vector, drag it into your assets and then drag / drop into a shape. This does convert it to bitmap (and realise ideally we would just accept it as a vector tile) but it's much more efficient than exporting as PNG first.

The issue "Adjustments fail to show Preset Names when category is displayed" (REF: AFP-5944) has now been fixed by the developers.
This fix is included in build 2.1.0.1709 (or later) which is already available as a customer beta and will be included in the next release.
Customer beta builds are announced here and you can participate by following these instructions.
If you still experience this problem once you are using that build version (or later) please make a new thread referencing this one.

thank you very much for your quick answer. I tried the color picker again in all versions of Affinity Designer 1, 2.04 and in the beta version.
The color picker in the toolbar (Shift + I) works without problems. I always made the mistake of thinking that the eyedropper on the right works the same way with swatches. The image was highlighted and when I selected the color picker on the right, the image was colored. Sorry, so the fault was mine.
