  1. I created the Greek pattern in Adobe Illustrator because Affinity Designer 2.4 unfortunately doesn't support vector brushes. In Illustrator, however, it works really well. The vector brushes in Illustrator are really outstanding. I then exported it as SVG and re-imported it into Affinity Designer 2.4.

Is the Vector Brushes feature planned for Affinity Designer? Maybe in Affinity Designer 2.5?

  2. Thank you very much again for the quick help. I previously had version 2.3.1 and then switched to version 2.4.0 productive with the update.

Previously there were no problems with the alignment of objects or with the alignment to the guides. I only noticed this today after updating to version 2.4.0.

Is there a way to reset everything to factory settings after an update such as the update to 2.4.0?

Anyway, it's working again now. The few things I did is set the snap option and reset it under Window --> Studio --> Studio.

Thank you again for the great update and keep it up! πŸ˜ƒ

  3. Hello,

I got the latest version of Affinity Designer 2.4 today
installed on my Mac. To test I have one in AD
I created a few auxiliary lines and wanted a rectangle with them
    Mount dimensions 20 x 20 mm.

Unfortunately, the rectangle does not always line up 100% with the auxiliary lines.

I made a video about it and I hope you can see exactly what I mean.

Somehow either 0.1 mm is missing or the rectangle doesn't line up 100% with the guide lines. Am I perhaps doing something wrong?

  4. Hello,

Unfortunately I haven't found a solution yet as to what could be the problem.
    I use a Macmini with M1 processor 16GB RAM and a 512GB SSD.
But for me it takes 30 seconds to start the apps again before the program opens.

But it seems I'm not the only one having this problem.

Is there perhaps an idea what this could be?

  5. Hello Hangman,

I've noticed this several times too. Lastly, our Christmas cards.
Can you tell me why that is?

Is this due to myfonts.com or dafont.com or is it more due to the free fonts?

Or Affinity Designer that can't display the font correctly?

  6. Hello, I also had the problems with my MacMini M1 16 GB RAM.
Since the MacMini is new, I started with version 2 of Affinity straight away.

From day one I had the problem that when I first started the APPS (Designer, Photo, Publisher) it took about 30 seconds for the programs to load.

At first I always assumed that it was due to version 2.

Since the last beta version, the APPS start very quickly again. Actually, just like I'm used to with all programs. But I haven't changed anything in the system.

Maybe Serif has changed something internally (with the last beta).

In any case, starting now works as it should.

  7. Maybe for a document with 8 pages I would prefer to have the publisher straight away
should use. But you're always smarter afterwards.

I always assumed that the Affinity Designer had the same options (for word processing) as the publisher. I hadn't worked with the publisher yet. Always use the designer 90% of the time. But for simple text documents I'll fuss a little more with Publisher.

Thank you again for your great help and your patience with me ;)

  8. I was now able to solve the problem with the missing font or style.
I loaded the document (8 pages in my case) that I created in Affinity Designer 2.3.1 directly into Affinity Publisher. There I could see that this one font or style was causing problems. In Publisher I was able to look at exactly the word that had the missing font. I marked a word β€œfat” in a sentence.

Here I assigned a new font style to Myriad Pro and simply saved the document. With new calls in Affinity Designer, the problem with the missing font disappeared.

I'm just wondering why the designer can't show me the missing font. Why do you have to go through the publisher first?

  9. Hello Kenmcd

Yes I used the Myriad Pro Semibold style.
The font is called exactly Myryad Pro Semibold SemiCondensed.

I have now replaced all fonts with Myriad Pro Regular and now I can no longer see the missing font.

But what does that mean for me? Can't Affinity handle the fonts properly?

I bought the font to make full use of it and you would also like to use the Myryad Pro Semibold SemiCondensed.

Is the problem already known to Affinity Designer?

  10. Hello,

I think this has nothing to do with the last update to Sonoma 14.3.

The slow start of the 3 apps (AF Designer, AF Photo, AF Publisher)
happened to me when I switched from AF Designer and AF Photo 1.10.8 to the
Universal 2 started. The same behavior as with "eluengo" is also the case for me.

The apps take 30 seconds or longer to start for the first time.

Once you have started the app once, opening it twice will be faster.

I've read about the apps starting slowly several times in the forum.
but unfortunately there is no solution for this yet.

  11. Hello,

I created a document with several artboards in Affinity Designer 2.4.0.

If I now want to save an Affinity Designer document as a PDF, I can specify which page should be saved as a PDF file when exporting the PDF. Here I would like to always output all pages from the document. When exporting, I selected the entire document for the area. Now a PDF file with, for example, 6 documents is exported to me.

So far everything is working quite well. If I want to output all the pages as a PDF file a second time, I have to specify this each time. Why can't Affinity Designer remember the settings for a document?
