Yes, it's verry unusual. Don't know if it makes any sense. I saw something somehow similar before with the Alpha channel (RGBA). As far as I remember, it was in GIMP. Normally the Alpha channel also is defined in percentage from 0 to 100. But there it was in values from 0 to 255.

Hi SamSteele! The sliders on top have 256 possible values per channel (0-255 - like in RGB), the other ones on the right use percentage terms (0-100%).

Affinity Design Wrinkle Tool
iconoclast replied to Dj Ozz G's topic in Pre-V2 Archive of Affinity on iPad Questions
Hi DJ Ozz G! I'm afraid there aren't equivalents in Designer to any of the tools in that menu at the moment. I haven't worked with Illustrator since many years, so I can't remember those tools. Inkscape has some functions like that (Warp Tool). Also something like this Wrinkle-function. Inkscape is a free vector graphics program. Not really an alternative to Designer, I think, because f.e. Inkscape doesn't support CMYK, but it is a nice sidekick for some things that Designer doesn't offer. F. e. autotracing. But I'm not verry experienced with this Warp-functions. -
You can also see the document size in pixels x pixels in the Metadata panel. For me it is not really an important topic, but f.e. in GIMP you can see the image size in the header, and also the file name, the colourspace, -depth and -profile, and the quantity of layers of the document. I think, it would be cool if Affinity Apps would offer this too. Might be a case for the "Feature Requests & Suggestions". Edit: Oh sorry, I forgot that this IS the "Feature Requests & Suggestions" category.🙄

No, I meant "Symbols". I thought that you could possibly create one filled form on one layer and a duplicate of it with no fill, but an outline stroke, on another, and you could scale, rotate, distort... both at once with the "Symbols" feature. But this doesn't seem to work. Seems like the best opportunity would be to create this two layers and put them into a group. So you can at least scale and rotate both layers at once if you select the group layer. To move the same nodes of both layers (to distort the form), you can select them by first selecting both layers, then dragging a rectangle with the Node Tool over them and then drag them with the mouse or move them with the arrow keys. But I don't know if there is a way to drag the handles of a node of both layers at once. At least I didn't find a way yet. Not the easy solution of your dreams, but I'm afraid there is no easier way.

Yes, sorry, the "Outline" of the Layer FX doesn't offer the "Join" function. Possibly the "Symbols" function ("View" > "Studio" > "Symbols") allows you to do what your looking for. But I'm not sure, and I don't know if it will be much easier as just using two different layers for fill and stroke. I'm still not familiar to this function.

I think, the reason is that the text layer is a sublayer of a group of layers. So if you doubleclick on the text with the Move Tool enabled, you get another layer selected that lies above this text layer. Probably the whole group. Select the text layer and the Text Tool and try again. If this doesn't work, select the text layer, place the text cursor in the text and press Ctrl+A to select the whole text.

Hi Philip, I'm not sure how the Affinity Apps behave normally if you only change the layout and restart, but if you save your layout as a new Studio Preset (menu "View" > "Studio Presets" > "Add Preset"), you should at least be able to reload your layout from the menu "View" > "Studio Presets". But I think, normally Affinity Apps should always load the last layout you used.

Yes, if you use the script, you don't need to create a new document first. Go to the "Extras" menu as I said above and you will get a panel where you can choose the language, if it should be a calendar for the whole year or only a month, if weeks shall start with sunday or monday and if you want an image frame. After that the panel appears in which you can configure the format settings. Then the calendar will be created and you can do the design and add images or export the document as PDF and open it in Publisher to do the design and add images there. Should work, but as I said, I didn't test it. So without warranty. Edit:But, not to forget, you have to do the text formating manually. If you want a special font for the whole text, you can make your life easier by choosing this one as the basic font in the preferences of Scribus.

Hi LaraJ, there is a Calendar Wizard in the free open-source-software Scribus (menu "Scripts" > "Scripts for Scribus" > "Calendar Wizard"). You could create the basic calendar there, export it as a PDF and open the PDF in Publisher, to manipulate it the way you want. I never really tested it, but I think it should work. You could of course create the whole calendar in Scribus, but it is not verry handy and a little limited. Not as covenient as Publisher.

Hi aamitab! Are you sure that the image is rotated? Could it be that only the Preview of the document is rotated? Go to the "View" menu and click on "Reset Rotation" (or so), then you will see. The Preview of the document can be rotated by holding Alt and scrolling the scrollwheel. Maybe you did it accidentially?

I don't know much about Kindle and E-Books, but as far as I know E-Books don't have fixed layouts. It's more like websites, variable, depending on the zoomfactor and so. I'm not sure if Publisher is the right software to create E-Books. Possibly something like Calibre would be the better choice. But without warranty.

Hep needed
iconoclast replied to Graham Brown's topic in Pre-V2 Archive of Affinity on Desktop Questions (macOS and Windows)
Hi Graham! I think we need a litlle more information what you want to do. Can you upload a screenshot with closer descriptions? -
Hi Phil! Did you accidently use the Fade Transparency Tool (the one with the glass-symbol)? You can see it if you select the tool. There would be something like a path on your table, that has a black and a white ending point. In that case go to the context bar of the tool, open the menu "Type" and choose "None".
