  1. Why don't you just try to explain a bit clearer what result you want to see? You said that you want to create a sunrise. But you want to do it with the Transparency Gradient? The Transparency Gradient Tool paints tranparent gradients on Curve layers (not on pixel layers). How should that create a sunrise? By the way, your stars look a little more like falling snow. Real stars are not spread so consistent.
  2. In the document you uploaded here, there is a layer called "(Kurve)". Probably it is called "(Curve)" in your app, because you use english language. In my app it is called "(Kurve)". The first one in the group.
  3. It is very simply. You only need to add the mask to a layer, and then you can paint transparency and opacity as you like. And yes, Black is 100% transparency (0% opacity) and White is 100% opacity. But even the different grades of grey cause the depending grades of transparency. But it is of course your choice if you want to use it.
  4. 1. Create a rectangle 2. Fill it with the gradient you want. Chose the same color for both ends of the gradient (the color of the sun). But make the end point of the gradient transparent. 3. Go to the "Layers" panel and drag the rectangle layer on the bottom right of the "(Kurve)" layer.
  5. Masks are extremely helpful, especially for releasing objects from Photos. You just need to understand them. Masks are greyscale images that are used as masks. The pixels of that greyscale image that are darker than 50% create transparency, the lighter ones create opacity. So you can easily paint transparent areas in an image and make them opaque again if you like. You can use any brush you like for it. And you can simply switch between black and white with the "X"-key, if black and white are chosen in the "Colour" panel. I really love this function.
  6. If I understand right what you want to do, you only need to create a rectangle and fill it with a radial or elliptical gradient from the color the sun is meant to be to the same color, but the at one transparent. Drag that layer to the bottom right of the layer "(Kurve)".
  7. I can confirm what R C-R is saying. It is normal behavior by the way. Many apps do this. E.G. the Magix Apps and as far as I remember, also GIMP does it. If you don't like it, you can easily change it back to what ever app you want.
  8. I'm on Windows too. If you have a vector object (shape) or a closed curve and apply a pixel image to it (by dragging it on to the right area of the layer in the Layers panel), then fill another shape (vector object) with a gradient that contains transparency and drag it the same way on to the main vector object, the transparency should also be applied to the pixels. That in fact works in Designer v2, but not in Designer v 1. You could solve your problem by using a mask with a gradient from black to white on the basic vector object. That would even affect on the pixel image and let the background shine through.
  9. I like Inkscape very much, but it doesn't really offer CMYK-support. So you need an additional professional app for that or you have to fiddle around with Scribus to convert RGB to CMYK. And that is really annoying. But for me open source apps like Inkscape, GIMP and Krita are very good tools for many additional purposes. E.G. I often use them to create content like textures, light leaks, brush heads and other stuff, even for my Affinity Apps.
  11. Immer gern! Yes, in version 1 of Publisher, the Studios were in the "View" menu. In version 2, they are in the "Windows" menu, as Alan already said. As far as I remember, someone here in the forums some time ago suggested that, because he meant it would make more sense. He was probably right, but of course it confused a bit in the beginning. But however, the entry I was talking about in my last post already was there in version 1.
  12. Hi Anoli! I can see on the top right side of your screenshot that there is an entry named "Spalten". On the right of this there should be a field where you can enter how many columns you want to have.
  13. As far as I can see, in fact there is a grid right from the start, if you create a new document or open an image. But it is very small and weak, so you will only see it if you zoom in a lot and the contrast to the background is high enough. It seems that at least the colour and opacity of the grid can be changed permanently. Even after a restart of Photo 2, the colour settings keep changed. But I can't find a way to change the "Automatic" values permanently. I think it makes sense, because "Automatic" says that the values will be set automatically in a certain size or in relation to whatever, but the relations don't seem to make sense to me. Possibly the developers should have an eye on it.
  14. Hi Nathan! I experienced it with some of the styles I uploaded to the Resources Section here on the forums some time ago (Link). Confusingly it doesn't happen to all of them. I can't see the reason for it. E.G. the style "Antique 03" ("Material" Styles). In my second Style Collection, there are even more samples that are affected by this issue. You find both here, attached to the opening post. They all work in Affinity Designer 1, but they are flattened in Designer 2. Unfortunately I can't upload a screenshot as a sample, because I always get an unknown server error if I try (Error Code: -200). Edit: You can see it in the Styles Panel too, that these Styles are flattened.
  15. Hi everybody! In Designer v2 I notice a thing that is a little bit disturbing. It didn't happen in v1. If I open a vector graphic in Designer 2 it looks normal first. If I click on an object in this graphic, the path lines become visible (purple outlines). Is there a way to make them invisible? I can't find any working function for it. And it is really disturbing, especially if I'm painting with vector brushes (in that case the path lines are center lines). I already checked the Pixel Preview Mode, but the path lines stay visible. Possibly a bug? I'm on Windows 10.
  16. Hi mnelson! Is it possible that you moved the files on your Hard Drive? In that case Publisher would only show previews of the images, that have a low definition. As Walt says, the Ressource Manager should tell you if the images are still linked to the document.
  17. Do you have the newest version of Rocket Dock? As I saw there is a version from 28.10.2022 (v1.3.5). Edit: You could also watch out for alternatives. E.G. Winstep Nexus. Didn't test it, but it looks interesting. It exists as a free version and a professional version for 19,95 €. It also works with Win 10 and 11, 32 and 64 Bit.
  18. Hi everyone! It seems that there is something wrong with the Styles in v2. After installing the new versions of the Affinity Apps (great stuff, by the way), I imported my Styles, that I created in v1. As I tested them in v2, I noticed, that some of them, that contained a bevel effect (3D) are much more flattened than they were in v1. Seems that at least the 3D-settings have changed on import. Or maybe on export from v1? I'm not sure about it. Has anyone noticed the same problem?
  19. I had a brush lag to as I first started my new vs2 Photo, but after I assigned more RAM to Photo, it became better. For rotating the canvas, I created the short keys ">", "<" for clockwise and against clockwise, and "Strg+Shift+<" for Reset Rotation. That works pretty good for me. But I must confess that I generally prefer the way other apps like GIMP, Krita or Artrage manage it, by holding a modifier key (Alt or Shift) and a mouse key and drag the mouse. Hope that this will be adapted some day, even for Photo and Designer.
  20. Seems that Paolo tries to open a document from an extern device (iCloud). Are the known problems, that existed in v1, concerning extern devices, solved in v2?
  21. I don't doubt it. However, I personally didn't notice any bigger problems with v2 yet. Generally there are many things that changed since I work with computers, and I'm not really glad about all of these "progresses". But there may be good reasons for it. E.G. I invest much more time in maintenance (Updates) than I did in my early computer years. The problem with launching Affinity Photo from e.G. IrfanView for me already existed in v1. I don't think that it is an Affinity problem, It seems to be caused by the security management of Windows. As far as I see, I could launch Affinity from IrfanView in my Adiministration account. But that would make no sense, because, of course, I only use the Admin account for maintenance, not for working. From my point of view, many things in Windows have become more complicated and annoying during the last years. It may be because Cyber Crime is increasing permanently. By the way, I saw that you are still using AIMP. I did that too for many years and really liked it. But it is a russian app. So I decided to delete it for security reasons.
  22. I'm still exploring too. I opened the Preferences in Photo, clicked on Photoshop Plugins and then on Open Standard Folder in the Explorer (or so - I'm using german language for my apps). So I found a direction where content folders of the apps are: C:\users\yourName\.affinity. Maybe this will somehow help you. But I'm not sure.
