I have the same machine, I would think that it should be able to run a 4k display with decent results. It will definitely be slower as the rmbp still only has a 4.1 mil pixels display however it should be usable (I haven't tried it, basing this on the relative power of the iGPU in the new machine)

@Andy You should add this: https://forum.affinity.serif.com/index.php?/topic/14277-vector-files-massive/?p=70184to the list ;) or better yet, slip it into one of the 1.4.x as a minor fix :)

Cool. Any chance the feature roadmaps will be updated?

My hunch is that if he is using a 2015 retina macbook to run a 4k display there isn't nearly enough gpu power left over to have any hope of reasonable performance.. The gpu in that machine is just enough to run the internal let alone external display. Additionally the target market for that machine isn't photo editors its safari + email + ms office.

Forum Post Question
william7 replied to pjglad's topic in Pre-V2 Archive of Affinity on Desktop Questions (macOS and Windows)
Have you tried the Attachments button at the bottom left? I think if the file is of certain types it will automatically embed the pic at the end of the post. -
I was wondering if anyone here uses http://www.fileloupe.com/for viewing their photos, I am thinking about using it + Finder as my "DAM" until the affinity DAM ships. Was curious if anyone here had used it by chance, also it looks pretty slick with the virtual copies feature really catching my interest for PDFs as it shows. Also to state the obvious, if you have it posted somewhere you can always just add a link to the picture. -
Mac and iPad pro
william7 replied to Jackdc's topic in Pre-V2 Archive of Affinity on Desktop Questions (macOS and Windows)
I think its safe to assume that it will be a separate purchase which I think is NBD. They are already way cheaper than pretty much everyone else and they are different platforms. -
Affinity Photo is Apple's Best Mac App of 2015

Congrats. Keep up the good work. -
Sweet thanks Andy. I have to say at first I thought this thread was a joke but once I saw your comment about git I realized that this would be really useful. I am looking into doing some web development as a side project (I am currently an embedded systems developer). Additionally @aitte, little off topic but you may want to check out https://git-lfs.github.com/we are currently considering using this to store entire software binaries in git.

I am curious if this will be a feature in the upcoming affinity DAM or if it is still planned for AP

A serious Affinity PDF software?
william7 replied to marcoborghesi's topic in Older Feedback & Suggestion Posts
As I am not from the publishing industry I am not super familiar with the workflow. However I still think this should be a part of publisher as it is a part of the publisher workflow. It does however sound like it should be its own persona which I think is perfectly fitting to what you are describing as this seems to be a step in the publishing workflow. -
This sounds like something that should probably be a plugin. Unfortunately AP and AD don't have plugin support yet although I am confident it will come at some point.

Yea sounds more like a publisher feature than a separate app to me -
Digital Asset Manager - a.s.a.p.

I could get behind that. what I am saying is that unlike lr and ps affinity DAM doesn't need the overlap the reason being AP + DAM will probably cost less than a stand alone license of lr. If you go the adobe route not many people will pay 150$ for a dam + $20 monthly for ps so lr and its editing tools exist for people who don't need photoshop and the reason for that is to be more cost competitive with other editors. -

I believe you are right about the raw handling however if the affinity dam works like lr with a catalog/database then they have control over all he files and should be able to handle it however they want. I.e. They could do what you want using ap + dam, second I think the reason they include editing tools in lr is for batch editing. I think the affinity dam could benefit from batch capabilities but if you want to focus on one object you should open ap because otherwise they are duplicating things between apps as well as that's APs purpose. If they do it in the dam why have AP. Finally while most people are thinking of the dam strictly in terms of photos I could see them using it for designer and publisher stuff too at which point adding photo specific features is prob not the way to go. Instead you store everything in dam and open relevant affinity app to edit
