I found I could get a higher spec pc than a mac for the same money. Low end gaming PC's were competitively priced so maybe look around.

Hey, thanks for this - I have a number of topaz products, are you sure this is a photo library management tool? When looking it up on google, the first thing I'm met with is the below picture stating it's only purpose is photo editing. Then browsing through this (albeit rather quickly), I didn't find a single entry, screenshot or otherwise saying anything about managing photo libraries, though lots about editing photos. Perhaps this is my problem, the management part is taken for granted and not advertised? Do you have screenshots or otherwise of it actually managing a library i.e. photo tiles etc? I've downloaded a trial anyway and will get to the above mentioned ones and relook at them again also. Thanks.
Edit: I've now downloaded and used it and I can't see any way that I can use it as a manager, only an editor. Somehow I was already licensed for it, so I guess I'll keep it and have a play later, but I can only edit individual photos, not manage a library. If you could explain what I'm doing wrong or what our difference might be in what we think a library manager is that might be useful. Thanks.
Sorry I may have been confused as to what you were after. I use Capture One Express as I don't have a huge number of images. Just send tiffs to Affinity Photo. I know some people use Photo Mechanic to manage images.

Do you have the selection on its own layer? If so try the Move tool.
I make a selection, hit Ctrl J to get it on a layer then use Move.

If you're after photo management, Capture One Express has some functionality for RAW,DNG and TIFF files(Catalogue but no sessions) and is free for Sony, Nikon and Fuji. Editing is along the lines of AP Develop Persona. FastRawViewer is fast and works with RAW files but no editing. Adobe Bridge is also free.

Do you have hardware acceleration on? If so, try with it off. Edit->Preferences->Performance. It can do truly weird things with some GPU.

Are you on Windows?

Are your graphics drivers up to date?

Can you export as psd?

I don't think I kept it. I'll have a look. Maybe try again.

First thing to try is turn off hardware acceleration. Edit->Preferences->Performance
-
When you change monitors are you dragging AP across? Or are you restarting it on the new monitor?
-
Maybe try with hardware acceleration turned off, if you have it on. Edit->Preferences->Performance. It can cause all sorts of odd problems.

I have 16Gb RAM, reasonable storage (500gb ssd + 1TB HDD built in and several external drives), a reasonable graphics card with 4GB RAM (I would have got a better card if I'd known how much hardware acceleration was going to be used) and an i7 processor. Serviceable rather than spectacular. Mine is a DELL XPS Desktop. Possibly could have done better at a local computer store but I find it confusing and it was easier to get one ready made. If you're not doing a lot of photos could probably get away with less storage. Lower end gaming PCs can be good.

I'm having problems too. Updated laptop because mine was old and slow but no problems with Affinity. New laptop came with windows 11. Affinity keeps freezing and the screen just keeps breaking up. Any help would be great thanks.

Nvidia has a clean install option. Might be worth trying that before Display Driver Uninstaller.

Not sure if it will give you enough, but create a B&W layer with Overlay blend mode and mask so its just covers the wings. Play with the Yellow and Green sliders in B&W to help contrast. But may not be enough.

If you look around you might find Adobe's lens profile creator. They stopped making it available for download a few years ago. From memory its pretty easy to use.
Adobe still have it on their web site but the links don't work.

NeoFinder/abeMeda seems another option for image management. Think I looked at it in the past.
