  1. NeoFinder/abeMeda seems another option for image management. Think I looked at it in the past.
  2. I found I could get a higher spec pc than a mac for the same money. Low end gaming PC's were competitively priced so maybe look around.
  3. Sorry I may have been confused as to what you were after. I use Capture One Express as I don't have a huge number of images. Just send tiffs to Affinity Photo. I know some people use Photo Mechanic to manage images.
  4. Do you have the selection on its own layer? If so try the Move tool. I make a selection, hit Ctrl J to get it on a layer then use Move.
  5. If you're after photo management, Capture One Express has some functionality for RAW,DNG and TIFF files(Catalogue but no sessions) and is free for Sony, Nikon and Fuji. Editing is along the lines of AP Develop Persona. FastRawViewer is fast and works with RAW files but no editing. Adobe Bridge is also free.
  6. Do you have hardware acceleration on? If so, try with it off. Edit->Preferences->Performance. It can do truly weird things with some GPU.
  7. I don't think I kept it. I'll have a look. Maybe try again.
  8. First thing to try is turn off hardware acceleration. Edit->Preferences->Performance
  9. Maybe try with hardware acceleration turned off, if you have it on. Edit->Preferences->Performance. It can cause all sorts of odd problems.
  10. I have 16Gb RAM, reasonable storage (500gb ssd + 1TB HDD built in and several external drives), a reasonable graphics card with 4GB RAM (I would have got a better card if I'd known how much hardware acceleration was going to be used) and an i7 processor. Serviceable rather than spectacular. Mine is a DELL XPS Desktop. Possibly could have done better at a local computer store but I find it confusing and it was easier to get one ready made. If you're not doing a lot of photos could probably get away with less storage. Lower end gaming PCs can be good.
  11. That makes sense. I think you'll need blend ranges or luminosity masks but come back here if you get stuck.
  12. A bit confused about your percentages. If 25% of the shadows is C200, what is the other 75%? To save as a tiff, I use File->Export and its one of the export options.
  13. Is hardware acceleration on? Maybe try turning it off if it is. (Edit->Preferences->Performance). It fights with some GPU. Are your graphics drivers up to date? And
  14. Do you have a local Department store that prints? If so, print them through them. Usually only costs a few cents for a 4X6. If the colours are OK its your printer. If the colours are still bad its something else.
  15. Nvidia has a clean install option. Might be worth trying that before Display Driver Uninstaller.
  16. Not sure if it will give you enough, but create a B&W layer with Overlay blend mode and mask so its just covers the wings. Play with the Yellow and Green sliders in B&W to help contrast. But may not be enough.
  17. If you look around you might find Adobe's lens profile creator. They stopped making it available for download a few years ago. From memory its pretty easy to use. Adobe still have it on their web site but the links don't work. https://helpx.adobe.com/au/photoshop/digital-negative.html#Adobe_Lens_Profile_Creator
