Ironically the original image looks a lot like early '00s digital art mixing image manipulation, digital painting, textures & blend modes (virtual mixed media?)
Same sort of style used for the midish 90s X-files trading cards & some of the comic book covers.
I've dabbled with Midjourney and seen people's creations but not seen anything in that style.
Maybe I'm using the wrong version/prompts but Dall-e 2 tends to give me almost but not quite realistic boring stock 'photos' or illustrations that often look like they're done with cheap smeary oil pastels.

I make manuals, and as of now I’ve been asked to deliver them as PDF files (but I’m working to also release them as web help sites).
Just yesterday someone complained because we don't release our 1600+ pages manuals as printed books. When I objected that this would make updates very complicate, I was offered the hint to release the base big book, plus all the updates as separate leaflets.
This is something I actually did in the past, when working for a different company, and I remember ending with some twenty bigger or smaller books to be checked to understand a mature product, each one containing contrasting information.
I love web help and silent updates…

The built-in Help is already on your computer as HTML files, unless you're using the iPad version of the applications. You simply need to navigate to them with a web browser and open the root file. No need to mirror anything down.

If the previous post is long and/or contains many points of interest, it is usual (and often useful to readers) to quote part of the post when addressing just that part of it.
This makes it easier for readers to see which part of the post is being addressed rather than the reply being a ‘catch-all’ for every point in the previous post.
For example, this post that I’m writing here doesn’t address the file extension issue, it only addresses the single issue of people quoting from a previous post.
I don’t know why you find it “irritating” but if the reason for that is that you get notifications that you don’t want there is a setting in Account Settings / Notification Settings which you can switch off.

First, you don't Export .afpub or .afdesign or .afphoto; you Save them.
For Saving: Can you provide a screenshot to clarify what you're asking? The Export dialog certainly shows the format. E.g., in this Windows screenshot:

Are you referring to someplace else?

@electrolyte In case you have multiple .autosave files and you doubt which is your original file, remember its name reflects its creation date. Size can also help to determine which is the wanted file.

Jenna Appleseed reacted to MmmMaarten in Can someone help me open this svg file, please?
@Dan C

I was curious so also tried this and it's nice to see Vectorstyler can open it. However, That seems to be only because Vectorstyler is overly forgiving on the file and just handles the SVG standard at least very loose/not strict/not at all. Which could be both a good thing (it opens more) as a bad thing (it also opens rubbish files that aren't compliant to the standard).
To start It looks like all IDs in the file are illegal due to the xml spec for IDs. Id's like <Mesh> aren't valid AFAIK. The < (less than) stands for < character and > (greater than) stands for the > character and that 'encrytion' doesn't make any sense in an ID to begin with, even if it would be allowed.
So it looks like all IDs are wrong in this file. Which would make the SVG wrong/corrupt as it's not compatible with the XML standard to start with. Without even looking further.

I have to check the standard to be 100% sure tho, but I'm pretty sure about this.

This might have happened because the svg file wasn't downloaded as is, but was 'encoded' and treated as just a text document somewhere to make everything 'harmless'. Losing the functionality of the document. But even if these symbols (< and >) wouldn't be encrypted, it still wouldn't be valid IDs, so the original generated file wouldn't be valid either.

So for this alone it would make absolute sense that Affinity is not buying that file. It looks like Affinity is just more strict in expecting the SVG file to match the standard. Although if this is the issue I would expect Affinity to at least throw a warning that the file is corrupt/incompatible with the xml/svg standard.

Jenna Appleseed reacted to Ash in Claim your free content bundle & our new upgrade offer
Hi all,
Yesterday marked the end of our ‘40% off V2’ launch offer. With that offer ending I wanted to let you know about a couple of things:
Ongoing upgrade price for the Universal Licence
As I mentioned in my previous announcement (here), offering a specific upgrade price for V1 customers had many complications and is why we decided to run a launch offer in the way we did. However, we listened to the feedback we had around that, and have used this time to implement a method to offer an upgrade price long-term — allowing customers who have not upgraded yet an opportunity to still do so at a better price than a new customer.
All the issues I previously referenced around App Store conflict still exist, so the upgrade offer:
Is only available for purchases of the Universal Licence (offering upgrade pricing on individual apps just is not possible without conflicting with App Store guidelines as each individual app has their own App Store listing) Is only available for purchases made directly from our website (we cannot offer this upgrade discount for people purchasing via an App Store) The ongoing upgrade offer is 25% off the Universal Licence, and also includes a free content bundle (the Creative Collection) worth over £200. To claim this discount, we will validate you own V1 based on whether you previously purchased V1 from us directly, or have registered a V1 App Store purchase to your account. This offer is available from our new upgrade page.
Creative Collection content bundle now available to anyone who has already upgraded from V1 to V2 during the launch offer period
If you already upgraded to V2 during the launch offer period, we also wanted to make sure you could retrospectively claim this new free content bundle.
We have worked hard to make this a valuable gift, and have tried to cover various different use cases of our apps. The bundle includes some high-quality fonts, brushes, LUTs, icon assets and resources and, as mentioned above, is worth over £200. So, if you have already purchased V2 and you previously owned V1, you can claim this content for free as a special thank you for your support (in addition to the 40% discount you would have already received on your V2 purchase during the launch offer).
To claim the Creative Collection, please visit our upgrade page and scroll down towards the bottom where there is a ‘CLAIM NOW’ link under ‘Already upgraded from V1 to V2? You can get the Creative Collection for free below’.
After following the link, you’ll be taken through the validation step of checking your account as being someone who owned V1 and has purchased V2. The way we confirm this is by seeing a V1 purchase tied to your account, whether you purchased it directly from us or you registered an App Store purchase to your Affinity account.
Claim your free content now
We understand there will be some of you who did purchase V1 from an App Store but may not have ever registered it to your account (and as you probably don’t have V1 installed anymore, no longer have the ability to register it). In that case we will need to try to validate that manually with you. So, please first try getting the Creative Collection using the link above and if that fails, drop us an email with your Affinity ID to affinity@serif.com (subject: “Free Content”) and we will do our best to help. If it’s possible for you to dig out your original App Store receipt for your V1 purchase, it will speed up the process if you include that in your email to us.
Other than that, thanks again for all your continued support. We hope you enjoy your gift!
Thanks,
Ash

Well, it won't be £500 unless you've bought multiple Universal licenses or a lot of individual product licenses.
And it isn't every 2-3 years. Or, at least, it might not be. First, V2 could be like V1 and last for 7 years. Next, there's no requirement to upgrade to the next paid version, whenever there is one. You can keep using V2 as long as you want.

It still seems that you do not get my point. I am saying that some people, in various threads, have written words along the line of "what Serif needs to be a professional tool", or "professionals require", or "speaking as a professional" followed by the list of things they want. They are using special pleading wrapped up with the words "professional". They seem to be trying to get their wish list to the top of the big wish list of people who they do not term professional, as though their needs are more important.
These programs are about £30 each. Yet supposed "professionals" are complaining.

Real professionals don't whine all the time on discussion forums. They make suggestions and work using other tools if the ones they have don't fulfill their needs.
They usually don't cry for $50.

As I wrote, some people are wrapping up their wants and needs in the words "the professional needs" or words like that. Their needs are not more important than mine. They are not a more valuable customer as they pay the same price as me.

And who are "the pros"? Each time I read a comment in the forums like that, it sounds like special pleading for exactly the features that certain people want. Maybe I am not a "pro" graphics user, but does that negate my needs or wishes? I am a customer too.

This means nothing! - I am amazed you are comparing Serif to this. I tell you what - Would you like me to pay for your licence? Would this make you happy? is it the £89.00 that is bothering you? You pay 299 for a software and crying for 89!!!. If so let me know, otherwise don't waste poeple's time with such nonsense and pointless comparison between two different business models and wonder why it does not work. I am amazed you are still banging on about this!
I think Ash has made his point(s) very clear and Serif know where to stand and what to do. There is no point going on about this and this thread should be locked.

You are talking absolutely rubbish!!! - This is a major version!!!! - A free update is normally within two weeks of a launch of the new MAJOR version NOT a year after! As Patrick says, they got eat! If you had bought your copy two weeks ago I can understand but not a year ago! Clearly you are not a regular user and are here for a "Freebie". A lot of effort has gone into the software, and this is not "Shareware!

Jenna Appleseed reacted to lettersign in Affinity V2, updates, pricing and no subscription (moved)
I'm agree with @monzo

How many excuses can you make? Make a free update for everyone who bought the software within a last year. That's fair, truly fair. That's what all respectable software manufacturers do ( for example, font editors, which are released as infrequently as Affinity and cost about the same).
People bought the app knowing they would receive updates without a subscription and could expect to be updated with modern up-to-date features. Instead, they bought 1.10, which will never get any new features. It is very clear from this topic that you knew that such users existed and decided to sacrifice them:
This is not fair and until you ignore the existence of fresh new customers of v1 and offer a fair solution for them, people will continue to be angered.
Admit the mistake, provide a free upgrade for those who bought less than a year ago and the topic will be closed. It is so easy to get the most loyal users for the future and so easy to lose them forever...

Not that I disliked existing customer support (staff always responded kindly), but some openness helps to create a trustworthy and predictable relation towards customers. Thanks!
