I've disabled metal acceleration (after Monterey and AP 1.10.3 updates). In this instance the freezing gets worse with that disabled. Are there any other work-arounds you could suggest please - although I understand this could be a work in progress.

I really meant to say - thank you so much for your help. I'm new at posting things anywhere really, and this was very helpful. I'm so much enjoying Affinity Photos - it really is fab.

Changed User Interface from Dark to Light. Layer Panel layers have black background with black writing. See uploaded image. thanks.
