  1. Very convincing translucency with the ice. Is this a play with opacity, or more of gradients overlaying? Nice ice!
  2. Very nice! Keep them coming! (I totally concur with the above comments.)
  3. Thanks Kasper-V, I learn so much every time I open this forum! Great work!
  4. Love the seawall. It is a nice seascape all on its own. Your handling of the water and reflections is outstanding! And the textures of the seaweed on the beach, the grundgy growth on the lower wall deftly executed. What portion of it is from Designer and what portion is Photo?
  5. Another “Slam dunk”. Beautiful. I have never seen a float plane like this - is it currently still in the air? Great detail in the illustration. Are those orange exhaust ports glowing from the heat? I am wondering as I look at the elevators if the pilot is about to initiate a quick descent? My time in the north saw many flights in the workhorse bush planes on floats, but the sleek lines and power of this baby is an entirely different beast....
  6. From an observation around forty years ago in northern Manitoba.
  7. Yes, crows (or ravens) They seem solemn, maybe disdainful, observers - casting a critical eye on everything - on guard, and quick to focus on any infraction...
  8. Fantastic tribute to the culture. Well done!
  9. Holy (expletive deleted)! Love the colour (cool, dark, bright, hot) contrasts. Beautiful work. This has such a punch. And reminds me how far the road ahead is...
  10. From mind to hand to screen... becoming accustomed to strategies to build the image..using Affinity. I can finally lay aside my elegant sable brushes, pens, inks, and finely ground pigments... loving it.
  11. Love the rich textures and colour scheme... Great work (again)!
  12. Hi Peter, the clouds are a free stock photo from Unsplash. I just used the menu in Affinity Designer to access Unsplash, searched for “clouds” and scrolled through until this one popped up. It had rich colour that echoed some of the reflections on the plane’s fuselage and the light source in the photo was close to that on the plane. I am thinking about just experimenting with Perlin noise to create clouds. I am inspired by Slammer’s work in this area. You might want to have a look at his aircraft illustrations too.
  13. Great talent on that forum! Thanks, Slammer! After scrolling through hundreds of military aircraft it was a relief to the eye to come across your U-534. (I requested to join.) I am still searching for a style and shiny things in dramatic settings appeal to me. This is likely not my last aircraft illustration. Musical instruments also have similar interesting visual qualities... thanks for your tips on Affinity!
  14. First attempt at a more technical illustration... The Globe Swift.
  15. That thump was my jaw hitting the floor. So cool! Great work!
  16. Wow! Great work! The colour combinations are wonderfully subtle...
