@JGD I'm saddened I have but only one heart to give to this.

On that subject I will suggest, once again, that instead of having your roadmap here in the forums, with the upcoming features du jour, you use a Trac-like system and break them all down (both the ones you're currently working on and the upcoming ones in the mid- and long-term) across the releases where it's predictable they may appear. Even if you have to readjust that timeline down the road (as you did with Publisher, in fact; it wasn't a completely nice wait, but at least we were somewhat kept on the loop).
I take it that for business reasons you'd wish to keep novel features completely secret, but at least put the most requested and predictable, industry-standard ones in there. And put that official, extended roadmap front and centre in your website, so that prospective buyers cannot miss it. Sure, you may lose some sales because of that transparency, but you'll recoup them eventually, with the added goodwill that comes from that degree of honesty. Explaining those dependencies here on the forums after the fact and just saying “trust us” just doesn't cut it, especially when the wait extends into the rather unreasonable multi-year range. Users may wait years for an entirely new app (see above) but, unless they understand why they are waiting for a feature (and an essential one at that), they may understandably become a bit pissed off.
This system, for all your commendable transparency, is still too opaque, I'm afraid. The masses are uneasy, if not downright unhappy. I know I've been uneasy for four years (not over this feature in particular, but I hadn't noticed it wasn't there, either… and I've since added it to the list of essential features which prevent me from using Designer as my main vector app, obviously). You indeed have a lot of very happy customers, but quite a few disgruntled ones, too, it seems. It's better not to have some people as customers at the wrong time and make them wait or, worse even, spend their money unnecessarily. They'll respect you much more for that in the long run.

If I had known AD lacked a core feature like this (and then it be ignored for 5 years) I wouldn't have bought it; AD is virtually unusable to me in this state. To be completely fair though, that's on me, I shouldn't have assumed what appeared to be a "serious Illustrator contender" would have a staple feature like this. It's like if your favourite code editor didn't have a Find & Replace feature. Sure, you can use it but inevitably you're in for a world of pain that just isn't worth suffering through for the other good features.

Given the lack of concern about this feature, maybe you can tell me how I should go about changing the stroke thicknesses of hundreds of lines in a single file when there are many others that I do not want to change?
My impression is that currently this is essentially impossible? Unless there is another tool that would allow it? If not, then Designer basically doesn't do the job and a most basic one at that.

After several years of not having Adobe Products in my computers... I had to install a trial version of Illustrator just for this functions...
I had to clean a very large amount of elements in more than 200 files, and the only way to quickly and effectively clean a lot of extra elements was with commands like 'Select Same Fill Color', 'Select same stroke weight', etc. etc.
So PLEASE Affinity!!!... Include this set of commands ASAP.
Did I said PLEASE?? If not. PLEASE!!!

    Thanks for clarification @MEB.
I'm so sad so useful and basic feature still isn't part of AD though.

Some great points there, @furtonb, I agree with much of what you said, particulary your last sentence.
For me, Affinity Designer is a Lamborghini without wheels: It's incredibly capable and sexy but due to lacking something so integral it stays parked in the garage gathering dust.

Oh my, this is an absolutely vital feature for me as well.
Without it, Designer is sadly just a shiny toy.

Hi. Back on this thread for a check, I found MEB's above 'explanation'. Thanks for that. It seem to vindicate my earlier hypothesis that devs initially chose a data structure that makes selection by attributes very impractical (thus very slow). Sorting this mess out would mean rewriting most of the code, a formidable task that would not offer clear benefits to the existing users of AD (compared to adding fancy 'creative' features). So my hunch is that AD 1.x will never have selection by attributes. And it's not even obvious whether AD 2.x will have the different internals that could allow it.
All in all, I won't waste my time any more with AD. Too bad, on paper, it seemed cool.

    Hi MEB,
Thanks for the feedback. The global colours were mixed into this discussion by others in the previous replies. I don't expect anything at this point regarding this feature – this thread has been going on for multiple years without any concrete promises, which renders it clear to me, that I'm not in your primary audience, which is acceptable to me, as I do my drawings elsewhere primarily. I had similar feelings with this thread as I had with the ones prior to Affinity Publisher's release – there was no clear communication to the release dates, those being pushed over and over, nor is it clear to me, that anything will happen soon: yes, it could be certain, that Designer 21.3 will have some feature that makes it possible to do something similar than the "select same". That's something I expect to hear from our politicians. Jokes aside, sorry.
I think there had been mentions about the way the Corona development is happening: they have a very clear Trello timeline about the expected deadlines and features to be implemented: https://trello.com/b/dgI8vjDb/corona-road-map-cinema-4d
I know it is a different field with a different scope, but to answer your question, I would expect something like this. Right now you offer insight in the form of this thread: https://forum.affinity.serif.com/index.php?/topic/842-affinity-designer-feature-roadmap/
I understand that you have other priorities, and I am in no position to expect you to change this. I am working in a completely different field, where the promised scope and the expected deadline come hand in hand, not in the form of "it's done when it's done", even if it comes to maintaining support.
Another perspective of mine on this: if someone would be in the need of cleaning up externally created drawings, he/she would instantly see the desperate need for this feature, where this could save ridiculous amounts of work. I work with a lot of software on a daily basis, for a ~seamless workflow I am using some kind of built-in selection tools, Designer being left outside the circle for this reason. Anything else basically has a workaround, or Designer is more than capable of doing, making other files workable is not doable with the time constraints I usually have. But we are talking almost half a decade gone since the initial wish. With this in mind, I flip your question: I don't know what else do you expect from your users in this thread.

    Hi B4ttleCat,
No need to apologise, you weren't rude at all, quite the contrary. Thanks for your concern. Please see my reply above regarding your question.

    Hi airguitarbandit,
    Welcome to Affinity Forums
I do care and I wish I could do a little better here regarding yours, B4ttleCat and other users concerns/questions about this and other features, but this is not just about caring. There's things I don't know about or can't disclose, neither I am the right person to do so.
All developers and managers also read and participate on these forums. If they felt there was anything new or significative enough to add (disclose) to the discussion they would probably have done it by now.
Serif/Affinity provides Betas for all of its applications, in all platforms and also lists features planned for each dev cycle of the app (v1, 2 etc). Going further than this means entering in details, suggesting dates or risk creating expectations that we then might not be able to meet. It happened already when we were too optimistic regarding Publisher release date/development and the backlash was considerable. So we try to avoid being too specific regarding features that are not yet finished/ready to be discussed.
If/when developers feel they have something concrete to show/need feedback they create new threads themselves or participate in existing ones replying to users directly. Ben, Dave Harris, Matt and quite a few others have been doing this since the beginning.
    @LennartGäbel
Regarding priorities - as explained before - this is not as simple nor linear as it may look. It's not just a question of being a basic feature or not. Some features depend or are tied to other work/parts of the software that may still need to be finished or that aren't yet working as we hoped for. Some may require some research or rewriting a large part of the code or may even en up not working/performing well enough and must be postponed for some reason. In some cases we may also have to complete/implement/finish features/parts on the other apps to ensure compatibility/feature parity between them/platforms. There's quite a few things that dictate the order features are added/implemented which are not that clear for someone looking from outside.
The dev teams have been doing the best they can with the time and resources they have. Trying to speed up development just for meeting dates/goals/requests at all cost will just end up leaving everyone frustated - the users will get faulty features and I'm pretty sure devs will not be happy about it as well.
I'm sure if Matt or any other developer have some additional info they can disclose regarding this feature they will stop by and will do so. I will make sure they see/check this thread. Thank you for your patience, support and understanding.

Since the most requested (based on the reply count) are technical illustration related, it would be awesome to have an official response on all of them, whether we can expect Designer to strengthen this side as well in the future.
To be honest, although I've bought Designer for both macOS and iOS, they are mainly collecting the dust on my virtual shelf, because it is just that pain in the [ ° ] when it comes to dealing with technical drawings – which is basically 90% of my time during any chosen workday. The time required to organise my document to a workable manner (sorting through tens of thousands of different lines, fills, etc.) is not really worth to me.
I hope though, that this will change in the foreseeable future, if not, please be clear about it.

It's sad to see this hasn't made it into the 1.7 beta.
Silence is not helping. @MEB, I can only speak for myself but you would ease a lot of my anger/frustration being more transparent about when (or even if ) this is coming. It's been several years of it being 'planned' and nothing has been delivered or explained.

We've been "bearing with you" for quite literally 4 years for a planned feature. This is absurd.
If I didn't give a rats about Affinity Designer (or Serif in general) I wouldn't be here badgering you, but I do care. It's not only impossible to stop using Adobe products for missing features like this, it's also impossible to genuinely recommend to serious users.
