Evil Pechenka reacted to debraspicher in Affinity Photo 2 - Are Macros really improved?
There's limitations with regards to what Macros can do that I seem to find whenever I go to set one up. It's discouraged me using them more faithfully, but I do utilize them. I prefer to use them for housekeeping tasks, but some of what I would typically do in other programs I can't setup a macro for in Affinity. Not that I don't run into similar limitations in other apps. Export Persona does cover some of those gaps for single file operations. Adobe is more likely the real outlier in that they've had decades of experience to build a proper foundation for their API and Actions panel. All that said, I don't see a premise behind saying "in the future it'll be possible". We don't know whether the changes will even be big or even small, whenever and if they do occur. We know nothing about future development and we can't know. So basing one's review on currently available features is the best call. There's still preexisting bugs and it's been said they need more people. Either way, a macro facility is present and scripting is in the pipeline. There's been some very good discussions with staff there. Scripting in particular, though worth looking forward to, I agree can never and should never replace proper Macro functionality.

Thank you guys for all of your replys. In particular @John Rostron that really helped me with his set of macros that do exactly what I wanted.
About the discussion, I guess the biggest problem, in my opinion, is that we consider them as the Actions in Photoshop but they aren't. Or, at least, they completely aren't and I don't understand why. If I were an Affinity programmer I'd look at what works in Photoshop and I'd make it to AP. And Actions and the set of Actions are fundamental in Photoshop.
And the fact that we need your set of macros to resize images is the proof that AP wasn't thought with the idea to get the best from competitors and renew it.
And not, Batch is not always the solution for at least two reason: I can't record a batch setting (I have to re-set all settings every time) and not always it works. For example "convert from RGB to CMYK" is not possible. I did a macro, it works if I click on the macro, but if I use that macro in Batch it doesn't work.

I don't confuse anything. For three years now I have been waiting for some macro improvements, a new version has been released. I received nothing.
Can you convince me that I don't need it? It is forbidden. 😀

Evil Pechenka reacted to i5963c in Affinity Photo (Windows) crash
I raised this bug in early August when version 1.10. was initially released. I retested this bug once more with the most recent version (1.10.3.1191) of Affinity Photo.
I can confirm that it's fixed now👍!
So, this thread can move to the 'Resolved bugs' section.
Many thanks for fixing it!
Kind regards.
PS: I've noticed that since this bug was initially raised, also some other users have initiated threads about the same problem. Also these threads can now move to the 'Resolved' section, I assume?

I updated to the most recent version of Affinity Photo (1.10.1.1142), and did a quick test on this bug with pattern layers in a CMYK document.
The bug is still there.

Yes - I read the title.

If you have Affinity Publisher, too, you can create a document with correct size and then place alignment helper rectangles on a master page. Then open the .afpub document in Photo and save it as .aphoto document. You can also create an .aftemplate template file so that you can create new .aphoto documents with a grid:
Note that in order to be able to align to rectangles on a master page, you need to have the following snapping option enabled:
UPDATE: The master has the benefit of allowing arbitrary alignment grids, not only e.g. individual column widths (not available when using column guides), but using any kind of objects as alignment aid.

Evil Pechenka reacted to Dan C in "Show Column Guides" from View Menu not showing up - Affinity Photo
Hi @edumisilva,
Welcome to the forums
I have found that our QA team have recognised this as a bug here, as this option is found in the Mac version, but not the Windows version currently -
I have 'bumped' the development report with your thread now, many thanks for your report!

Evil Pechenka reacted to Denver3001 in Show column Guides toggle
What a great feature having Affinity to calculate columns without any manual input. I use affinity for Web Design and this feature will save a lot of time and make my work better, thanks Serif. Please add a shortcut to hide and display the columns like show/hide guides shortcut, also it would be great to have a shortcut to hide all guides/margins/columns, etc at once.

Check the thread's title ☺️

To notice: you can add images in a table's cell, but it won't get the proprieties of a picture frame (properties, constrains), and you'll have manually to resize each one. It would be handy if it does (like in QXD).

You can also duplicate a Picture frame with an image constrained (in the Designer persona), and replace easily the images.

Evil Pechenka reacted to robskinn in Column Guides are not hiding with 'Hide Guides' selection
I use column guides as a layout tool but there is no way to hide them except for toggling preview mode.
Being part part of the 'Guides Management' pane I'd expect to be able to 'Show' and 'Hide' them by simply showing or hiding guides?

Draw a rectangle that snaps to the cell, then snap your object to that
Move the rectangle to the next cell(s) and repeat as required

Evil Pechenka reacted to GarryP in Affinity photo: how to anchor an object to the center of the guides cell. Is it possible?
As far as I know there isn’t a way to do what you want as there are no ‘cells’ to snap to, just the guides themselves.
What you perceive as a ‘cell’ doesn’t exist as a concept within the software.
Any enclosed area bounded by guides is not ‘understood’ by the software; in other words, there’s ‘nothing there’.
If you want to snap to guides then you need to create those guides at the positions you want to snap to.

Evil Pechenka got a reaction from Fixx in Photo Management software
This program has a great interface, tags are well supported, but there is a huge problem - it makes a copy of the library. I don't know why they do it, but it's terrible.
