klm.ny reacted to HalHart in Support RTL languages
Well as a requests forum, I published my request. I would be happy if one of the developers will address the question

klm.ny reacted to HalHart in Support RTL languages
Ok, but why wouldn't Affinity team work on this? Many other companies did. And I guess there's somewhere a rtl library they can use.
Anyway, I understood that supporting rtl isn't in the planning for the near future, which is too bad. Why? There are so many users who would like to get this feature.
Lately I designed kind of a school newspaper in Hebrew, and I head to save the background and add the text in PowerPoint, which really complicates the work process, and also causes a less good result.

klm.ny reacted to HalHart in Support RTL languages
Hi,
Can you please consider supporting RTL languages like Hebrew and Arabic?
As a Hebrew speaker, I have to write texts In my designs backwards, which makes me frustrated, and I know there are many other people who would like to get this feature.
I use affinity design & photo for around 3 years, and that's the only con I found compared to Adobe's programs.
I know that many rtl-languages speakers don't buy Affinity suit just because of this reason.

I really don't understand the comment above. What is wrong with 'fixes'? I personally appreciate the fact that the developers are striving to provide a product with the fewest amount of bugs possible before moving on to another 'update/upgrade' that will inevitably introduce new issues.

klm.ny reacted to Yosh in Right to Left Support for Hebrew and Arabic
I second (or 15th) the request for RTL support in Affinity Apps. I really love Affinity Designer and Publisher and use them whenever possible. I've published three books with Publisher and done countless vector illustrations with Designer. The only times I have to switch to using Adobe apps is when I'm doing video work and need the dynamically linked Adobe files OR I'm working with Hebrew text. I've found a workaround for creating short lines of RTL Hebrew text, but it's not feasible for complete documents .

klm.ny reacted to Patrick Connor in Fix RTL for Arabic, Persian and Hebrew languages
Sorry, as always this is not my place to share our plans, and I think you will need to wait for future announcements to know what will be in those products. I understand that is a frustrating answer, but I cannot say more
-
klm.ny reacted to Patrick Connor in Fix RTL for Arabic, Persian and Hebrew languages
We do not claim to support these languages, so it is not so much a fix as a request to implement a major feature which we have often said is unlikely to appear in version 1.x. It is not a good or bad review to state a fact, which you are welcome to do to help others with their purchasing 1.x decision but we are already aware how serious this request is

klm.ny reacted to charioui bouchaib in Arabic Fonts or Right to Left Fonts problem
Please I am from an Arab country most of my work is based on Arabic Fonts (Right to Left fonts) so I find a difficulty in Affinity Designer because it doesn't support tight to left fonts. I have to right it in Adobe illustrator export it as a png then import to to my Affinity Designer project as a png image. You see how it is difficult!
My request is that you can fix that problem and support Arabic fonts or right to left fonts. Thank you in advance.

klm.ny reacted to Sotalo in Is Affinity Designer even developed anymore?
The professional world needs an affordable alternative to Adobe Illustrator. And several offerings are clamoring for that space. The problem is Adobe was a monolith for many years, they were a monopoly, and their teams were amazing. But they have all disbanded. In the latest release, Photoshop's Export As feature was reduced from a percentage down to options like "Very good." Illustrator had updates that completely broke the performance and simplify tools, and they've been scrambling to get it all back in order. All the new additions I've seen in these programs over the years have clearly been done by a younger, inexperienced team of developers, not necessarily designers for the intention of catering to professionals, and the overall decision has been to only make updates that users hate so they waste time having to revert it and give people a reason to continue paying. So even without the stupid subscription, the Adobe house is falling. I considered what it would take for my workplace to stop providing me an Adobe subscription, and honestly there's not too much that I really need.
The problem is Affinity Designer, if it ever wishes to be more than just a side drawing program for fun, needs more attention to the workflows and necessities of professionals so they can do everything they need to do in one program. This is not fun stuff, it's stuff like vectorizing raster images, fixing lines by drawing near them, and maybe not having totally random glitches when sending to print. The big updates have stopped, now it's just small tweaks and refinements.
There is a much bigger market for this program than what Affinity set out to make. It was marketed to professionals, we were promised a program that can do it all. We're willing to spend a lot more than $25 for that program, but we're not given the option.

klm.ny reacted to PaoloT in RTL issues on Affinity APPS
I'm not native in an RTL language, but my job nearly always includes Arabic, Hebrew and Persian versions of the text. Speaking of non-Roman languages, Chinese and Japanese are two other languages that are always needed.
It seems that multi-lingual support is no longer simply an option, in an interconnected world. I'm surprised this is not a top priority in the Affinity set.

AFFINITY 1.10
The biggest update performance, but sadly still not support RTL.
As RTL native, surely this is still the major problems and feel very pains.
I will always support AFFINITY APPS but for a temporary need to switch to other platform because do not need to wasting more dollar and times, jump there, jump here, work there, work here, especially to convert RTL works to AFFINITY.
Please upgrade soonest possible!

klm.ny reacted to Granddaddy in Proving Affinity Photo is better than the app that must not be named
People often ask why they should use Affinity Photo instead of the app that must not be named. The more mercenary among us often mention price, but I have taught for several decades that money is never the problem.
Today, August 14, 2021, Olivio provides answers in his provocatively titled YouTube video
"Proof: Affinity Photo is BETTER than Photoshop"
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xWNYHMN4QIE
From time to time it is good to be reminded of reasons we stick with Affinity Photo despite our lover's quarrels with Serif's developers. Thank you, Olivio.

klm.ny reacted to Asahii in There is a problem facing me now, which is when I log in to the program and work, it stops without any reason ....
I'm using a laptop with i5 processor and 6 ram Windows 10... The problem is in recognizing the Arabic language. That is, when I write with the text tool, the language is not written correctly, as it is supposed to be written from right to left, but the program writes it from left to right as it appears in the image above...
Even with the use of programs to fix this problem and make writing from right to left, some characters remain the same

klm.ny reacted to LondonSquirrel in Great support for adding the Arabic language. Imagine how much money you make from this addition, especially in the Middle East for Arabs
It's not really a solution. It simply reverses text. A full solution would be a full-featured DTP text engine.

klm.ny reacted to Ahmed Ibrahim EL- Mallah in Great support for adding the Arabic language. Imagine how much money you make from this addition, especially in the Middle East for Arabs
Is the addition worth it, sweetie. In fact, I mean that we in the Middle East are in dire need of such a program, and I expect that when the program spreads in the Middle East in Arabic, they will leave Adobe programs and move to your technology that is better in terms of quality and competitive price. and thank you .

klm.ny reacted to LondonSquirrel in Great support for adding the Arabic language. Imagine how much money you make from this addition, especially in the Middle East for Arabs
A slight over-egging of the pudding. There's maybe 400 million Arabic speakers, not 1.5 billion. Even if you include Arabic derivative alphabets such as Persian and Urdu, you still don't get anywhere near 1.5 billion.
But other than that the point it well made, and has been made many times before - the need for RTL languages.

klm.ny reacted to Ahmed Ibrahim EL- Mallah in Great support for adding the Arabic language. Imagine how much money you make from this addition, especially in the Middle East for Arabs
Adding the Arabic language to the program will achieve great sales because here in the Middle East and Arab countries need this program in abundance
Because we attach great importance to the various means of education for digital publishing, and your program may contribute to achieving great educational goals, developing human resources, and investing in this field is worth it.
Especially since we, as Arabs, more than one and a half billion Arabs and Arabs live in many countries. They wish that your product supports the Arabic language. You can imagine, my friend, how much money your program will earn if you invest in it to add the Arabic language. From advertising companies and everything that is about you is available to us from various educational activities and advertisements, but we lack the support of the Arabic language in such programs
I wish you success, and I ask God for forgiveness, wellness, safety from all evil, and abundant sustenance in every step you take.

klm.ny reacted to sam weiss in A Request For Affinity.Serif To Support Right-To-Left Languages.
We want Affinity to support Right-To-Left languages like the Adobe software, not with a third-party app, like the RTL fixer artwayz, remember that more than 400 million people worldwide are using RTL languages' this can increase the amount of the affinity customers.

klm.ny reacted to Sam Neil in Text Engine
Apologies if this has been mentioned before but is there no way Serif can adopt the Microsoft Text Engine? It seems to amazing handle RTL and non-Latin based fonts. It even makes a mockery of Photoshop's where you have to specify.
So is this something that is not compatible with Serif?

klm.ny reacted to HighTime in Fix RTL for Arabic, Persian and Hebrew languages
This is just beyond depressing.
It is literally all I need to be able to use Publisher properly and leave all other software. Mind-blowing how others can do it and Affinity just doesn't seem to give a damn.

klm.ny reacted to cheskykay in Right to Left Support for Hebrew and Arabic
Any update on progress of adding rtl?
I have tried using the rtl fixer program and while It helps me as I am typing the printer then washes it all of and reverts the text on the paper, also it is not only the rtl while typing it is the paragraph and pages settings too.

klm.ny reacted to travelseebuy in HEBREW & ARABIC RIGHT-TO-LEFT TEXT INPUT SUPPORT!!!!
It's quite obvious that millions and millions of people in the world write from right-to-left and yet Affinity Designer does not support this text input.
