And here is one more for you.

This is intentional at the moment but our devs have plans to bring in sticky settings soon :)

Madame reacted to noor in Thank you Affinity Designer!
I am not a professional artist or designer. I was just playing around with Affinity Designer one day, drawing some flowers and trees... and I got hooked! And now, I every time I see nice flowers or trees, I feel challenged and look forward to draw them. I have a lot to learn about Affinity Designer and digital art drawing, but I am enjoying every moment of it. So thank you so much! :D

Madame got a reaction from alecspra in Gradient Tool vs Gradient Map adjustment
Hi.
You can use it to recolour your picture in a creative way. Play with the blend modes as well.

Madame reacted to jeffeyer in For Designer with a stretch tool icon?
Yes, that's what I am looking for. Perfect.

Are you looking for the node tool?
In that case, you can convert your shape to curves, and activate the node tool. You can grab the nodes and alter the shape.

Madame reacted to Affinity Jack in Affinity Jack Tutorial: Schatten/shadow (English Subtitles)
Hi,
Ciao Jack
Hi,
In this Affinity Photo Tutorial, I show you how to create shadows.
Here, there are 3 kinds of shadows:
drop shadow, drawn shadow and a realistic shadow on the body.
This is my idea of „dreaming of being a super hero“.
Ciao Jack

Madame reacted to Danelo79 in LEGACY: Official Affinity Photo (Desktop) Video Tutorials
Lost my Photoshop (Adobe) License (CS4) when upgrading my MAC operating system to El Capitan and doing a files backup via Time Machine. Went through unbelievable hoops trying to get the Adobe License reinstated. Couldn't manage this; no way to talk with a human or get any kind of helpful hearing from Adobe. Became totally frustrated by the options left to me by the money-grubbing Adobe machine. Did some digging to see if I had access to any alternatives to Photoshop, and discovered Apple App "Affinity Photo". Bought it, installed it, and am in the process of learning the similarities and differences. I am so grateful to the Affinity development team. Your software is amazingly good, and your initial video tutorials are great. You have a sincere fan in this retired University instructor.

Hi.
You find the Transform panel under the Layers Panel

Madame got a reaction from Elf in How do I do copy and paste
You can use one of the rectangular marquee tool.
Make your selection, then do a cmd J so you have the selection on it's own layer.
Use the move tool to move the selection tho where you want it.
You may want to tweak it a little. Use the refine selection to feather it. Add a levels (or brightness and contrast) adjustment layer to adjust the contrast..
If you use an adjustment layer, you have to nest it to the selection layer, otherwise the whole picture will be adjusted.

Madame reacted to Oval in Is it possible to constrain a line to certain measurements, and still adjust the curve?
Ah, you have an exact working wheel ruler?
Much better in the analog world: She should do her letter design with n ropes that are exactly x cm long.

Madame got a reaction from Oval in Is it possible to constrain a line to certain measurements, and still adjust the curve?
It was a joke-- or at least an attempt. ;) But that's what I would have done. Pencil, ruler and graphpaper.

Madame got a reaction from TinPianoMan in How do I make black transparent?
Either way.. you can choose the selection brush tool when you have the selection going and use the refine selection in the context toolbar.
That will get rid of the grey edges.

Madame got a reaction from allyann in Polarizer Filter
I think you may be looking for the solarise filter.. and yes, it is under filters>colours.
EDIT: You have to make a new layer and change the blendmode to overlay. The filter is destructive.

Madame reacted to dhayton in How do I make black transparent?
Hallo Jack,
Vielen Dank für das Kompliment. Und ja das stimmt—die Affinity Benutzer machen ein freundliche und behilfliche Gemeinschaft.
Hi Madame,
Yes. That will help remove the grey, partially selected pixels. I should have said that you could also adjust the tolerance up or down to include or exclude more of the intermediate pixels. Thanks for pointing it out.
Best,
Darin

Madame reacted to dhayton in How do I make black transparent?
Hi TinPianoMan—
Jack’s method works well for making deleting the black in your illustration (or any color). Because I always screw up, I prefer to use masks because they are nondestructive. Here is how I would approach this problem:
Use the flood selection tool
Deselect the “Contiguous” option
Set the tolerance at 25%
Select the white
Create a new mask layer
And finally, deselect the pixels (cmd-d)
I've made a short video showing the process. The same technique can be used for different colors or shades. You can then create separate masks for each, selectively making different parts of the image transparent.
Best,
Darin

Madame reacted to JimmyJack in AD does not recognize width and height after rotating shape
Personally.....
If I have an oval that's taller than wide and rotate it onto it's side, I don't consider that a new oval that is wider than tall.
It's still the former... just pointing in a different direction (as indicated by the "head" handle).
In 3D we call this local coordinates vs world coordinates.
The transform panel does give you plenty of feedback. It shows the rotation angle and the visual representation (the little squares) shows orientation graphically. (edit: as oval said :) )
