    Hi Affinity Forum,

I would like to share my latest work with you.

There´s a T-Shirt Design Competition for the Rock Band “Cheap Trick“, I made this one.
    Hoppe you like it.

I like the atmosphere! I like the idea of the see through letters.
I would make them even more transparent so it would be more apparent. (Maybe the letters should be bigger also, if you want the transparent look?)

On the picture I would use the inpainting brush to get rid of the straws in the foreground. They are a little distracting.

And the jagged edge on the banner isn't adding to the look.

This is only my uneducated opinion. You are certainly on to something here.

Although it's just intended to erase white background I used it with great luck to remove a blown out sky.

I was out photographing a dark building, and didn't bring a tripod. I took a second picture and exposed for sky near by -without the building.
(This I used as a background layer)
There was foliage in the picture of the building, but it worked perfectly.

    Hi David,

My hope was you'd simply answer back and say either yes or no to whether the embed ICC profile was ticked. It appears by your screenshots that it is ticked so that wouldn't be the issue, and I didn't want you to focus on anything else but the  ICC box thats why I left the preset blank.  I was trying narrow it down step by step which would be a logical thing to do to try to isolate the issue.

I would say focus on the issue at hand that you have, posting supporting evidence from other posts esp if they are over a year old wont solve the current issue you are having and still others that read this are not any wiser or any clearer to your issue. There is a great support network here including myself who spend  a lot of time teaching, making tutorials answering questions on here, other social media and in my other teaching job. So, questions are fine but like I said maybe refine them or restructure your posts. For example if this was an issue I was experiencing i'd probably put it like this...

Hey guys, I'm having some issues with colour management when I export my images from Affinity Photo. I'm working in the ProPhoto RGB colour space and have imported a 16 bit, tiff image. But once I export i'm seeing a noticeable difference in colours.

Here is  the image i'm working with....

But this is what it looks like when I export...

And these are my settings for exporting...

Is anyone else having this issue? any help would be appreciated.....

Now, a post like that is easier to understand and if no one was able to answer it may mean posting a .AFPHOTO file that you're having issue with and let others test it out on other Mac's and if no is able to replicate the issue, we have now isolated the issue to your particular set up. If we were to replicate the issues we can then try to work on a solution for you.

    Hope this helps...

    Hello David4,

you have a lot of questions. Maybe that is why you don't receive answers?

I would like to help you, unfortunately I cannot follow your words. What does "I just cannot send to the Epson Pro 9900 printer the image in the tiff image file in PS CS5.  It does not match the original image file" mean?

How would one know if an image matches its output? Do you mean that what you see on screen differs from your printed output? Then I'd like to know what your tif looks like, is it cmyk or rgb, is it 8bit or 16bit deep, do you use a lot of layers or is it reduced to one final one?

"I have studied this effort with the X-Rite 24 patch target" is another sentence that doesn't tell me anything. What is the X-Rite patch target? I don't want to spend my time googling but would refer to understand your problems and then maybe help you.

    Hi,
in this Affinity Photo Tutorial, I show you a steaming manhole cover in a dark street.
I create steam, but the method for smoke would be the same..
There are many possibilities for the application, like you want.
I wish you fun. You can post your results and ideas.

No, this isn't possible at the moment unless you go to the trouble of making a gradient texture to use in a vector brush... We have much grander plans when it comes to gradients and I'm not prepared to mention what it is right now because it won't be as much fun when we do the big reveal in the future if you already knew what was coming! ;)

You can play with blend modes, or you can use filter>distort>displace.

In both cases you need two layers, one with the picture and one with the texture.

Here's a video about blend modes.

And here's a video about displace.

It's rather a complex task you have taken upon you, Ola.
I think you have to start over.

What you have to do first, is to make a copy of your background layer. Use that copy to work on.
Follow the steps in the video, and when you need to get back some of the details, then you make your mask. On the background copy. Which you have been working on.

When you then paint with black on the mask you will reveal  the untouched background.
As it is now, you are revealing nothing/transparency, because there isn't anything underneath the mask.

Your mask is selected in your screenshot, you got that right now. :)

Of course it would be great to have that new app quickly and full featured, or the DAM one which will my personal treat, but like MEB said you cannot catch up 25 years of development from scratch in just months.

I just want to add an important point about the Affinity products, it's this forum. I don't know any other application, except in the open source, where you have a direct contact with the developers !
It takes time to have a new, completely functional feature but you have a direct feedback about how it works and how it is improved.

So yes, all they can say about the schedule is "probably", "expected", etc... and how could they do differently ? At least it's not an automated answer  ^_^
But when you hit a bug, they ask for the files to check it out.

    Hi Diller,
I see your points and it's true (and expected i believe) that Publisher will go trough a development process as Photo and Designer. That's how software matures and grows.
Until a year and half away (a little more actually) there was no alternatives at all. Nobody was even discussing this. Affinity is a new line of software, started from scratch so naturally it won't be able to "replace" a 25 years old suite from one day to the next. Specially one that's dominating the market for so long and that a lot of people are used to work with.

I don't think it's fair to look at Affinity at this point for what it lacks compared to the competition. Instead i would hope people will look at it for what it already offers and for the possibilities it opens in the future with continuous development.

Just wondering ... all hate the Adobe Apps - certainly for the subscription modell - and want instantly a fully featured suite of tools that cost a fraction, has no subscription and is (at least nearly) as good as the Adobe Apps today - ideally with the same shortcuts and 100% interoperability. But PageMaker, Photoshop, XPress, CorelDraw, ... have taken a long time to evolute to be there were they are. Sure, I also want the Publisher as soon as possible for my prepress and design demands, all Apps bugfree with a lot of features, but sometimes we must be patient. It needs time to get a stable, feature rich, affordable software suite for publishing, illustration and photos. The staff of Serif Affinity listen to their users here and we all can help together to get a better product. And we are lucky that they are developing a mac style intuitiv software - and not only port the Serif counterparts for Windows (PagePlus, DrawPlus, ..). to Mac which are usefull, but not as half as intuitiv as the Affinitys Apps :)
