Affinity Designer Tips and Tricks
Madame replied to Bri-Toon's topic in Tutorials (Serif and Customer Created Tutorials)
Hi. Thanks for the videos. You show good points regarding strokes and fill. I think I can learn a lot from them! When you use text instead of sound, I get confused when I need to read the text and you are showing what to do in the same time. The text appears and disappears before I know it's there. (I'm looking at what you do). I would like that the text is separated from the "doing". Then I can pause and read it in my own pace. A few times it appears on you desktop (?) I like that. I think the video would be better if you work in full screen, not so much "clutter". I hope you that this as a positive, friendly feedback. I'm looking forward to more tutorials. I haven't seen all of them yet, so I will see the rest tonight and tomorrow. -
Thank you for sharing! Don't you just love this forum!

I tried this, and I used the smooth option on a quite high level. Then I put the selection on it's own layer. I could then outline the selection. -

Import multiple photos at once

I'm not sure this is what you want, but if you drag and drop from finder, you can open multiple pictures at once. They open in separate tabs, though. -

Hi. Can you check that when you have ticked the outer shadow, it is also highlighted (blue). That's where I got fooled sometimes.

I think I solved it. imported the gradients as Application palette. Once in Designer and once in Photo. Now they are working as expected.

Hi, I'm having trouble with those gradients. I have imported them as you told me, MEB. However here's how it goes: I make a i.e rectangle shape and activate the fill tool. In the swatches panel i choose the gradient palette of Luke Davies. However, the palette seems to be "flat", just solid colours. I change the fill from solid to gradient, but then there's just the main solid colour and white. Then I change to another (gradient) swatch, and the fill changes to "solid" again. MEB, I noticed that your screenshot of the palette was different from mine:

Viewing raw files before i open them
Madame replied to stevezz1's topic in Tutorials (Serif and Customer Created Tutorials)
Hi. Affinity doesn't have a library function. If you have a Mac you can go to VIEW in the finder toolbar, then VIEW OPTIONS and select SHOW ICON PREVIEW. -
I can guarantee that you will not master it in neither 10 nor 30 days. But you will look forward to a whole new world of possibilities. The price is a bargain. I doubt there are many that knows everything there is to know about this program. Just take one step at the time. Learning new skills keeps the brain young. ;)

I agree with Brian, I 'm not the speed paint fan. I like that the videos are short, though. I'm sure if I pause the video, I could learn from it, but.. And please no puppy, I would rather prefer text. -The logos are very well done! Cudos for those!
