This is the logical solution, but sometimes you're rushing and you make assumptions. You export, assuming it will go into the folder you've just opened a file from, and instead it exports back to the previous folder you exported to, which could be an entirely different job. Of course, you can just export again, but at some point you still have to go and hunt down that initial export even if it's just to delete it to keep your files tidy!

As frustrating as it is, I think it's default behaviour in MacOS, so that might explain why it's happening in Affinity and why it perhaps (I don't really know, I've never tried to write any software!) isn't as simple a fix as we think it is.
I've experimented with some of Apple's own software such as Apple Pages and Apple Numbers. What appears to happen is the file browser that appears in dialogs (such as when you use File > Open or File > Save ie. not the main file browser you use on the desktop finder) remembers it's last state, so the next time you perform any action that uses that dialog file browser (whether that is Open, Save or Export) it will still be in the last place you left it.
The problem seems to arise if you open a file from the desktop finder, or the Recents menu or any other "shortcut" method that doesn't use the dialog file browser. None of these other methods update the dialog file browser's state and so the next time you go to Open, Save or Export it will still be in whatever folder you last opened, saved or exported to/from through the dialog file browser.
There probably is a way that Affinity can work around this (as I assume Adobe have) to get the behaviour we want, but perhaps a feature request to Apple would be in order as well so that we can get this as the default behaviour across all software without the software developers have to work around it!

    Default Export-as folder followup:
I've come up with an idea that if it, or some variation of it, is implemented, it might be very helpful to a lot of people.  I mocked up a screen shot (in Affinity Photo of course) of the Export-as dialog window (attached) with a new drop-down menu that has 2 choices:
Use source folder (which means the folder either the background image file is in or the folder the .afphoto file is in if re-opening it) Use previous folder (which means use whichever folder was last exported to (for those who want to export repeatedly to this folder regardless of where source is located) An alternative would be for one of those to be the default Export-as location, and there be a radio button or check box to override that to the other option.

    Hi there,
Sorry for refreshing this old thread, but I don't want create new and also I couldn't find a more suitable one.
I am a new user here and I'm just starting the adventure with Affinity (especially with Designer and Photo), so I look forward to your understanding.

Today I was practicing more on warping layer to visualize it on complex object using the photo of the bottle and the label design from the author's post (Maxxxworld).

I found that Affinity Photo (v. 1.8.2.620) allows to distort/warp selected layer (or group of layers) in 4 different ways. So far I have used such as:
    - Equations Filter using Macro from John Rostron - it's not perfect, but it saves a lot of time.
    - Warp Mesh Tool - with minimum effort I got similiar label projection as in the reference photo, so it allows to keep the most precisely result.
    - Shear Filter - using "curved line" in grid on the right I got similiar result to John's method. It's also good for create/visualize waving flag.
    - Push Forward Tool in Liquify Persona -  I managed to get the desired, though so-so result, but I have used this method for fun purposes. Also, it  works on the raster layer only (you call it "Pixel").
All results you can see in attached image.

However, each of these methods is destructive, because it applies a final, pernament change to layer(s), so then it's no editable anymore.
Would be great if Affinity Photo could has such options like "Shear/Equations Live Filter Layer" or something like "Mesh Warp Tool", which will work on curve/embedded/pixel layer or even group of layers while maintaining the possibility of further editing.

It should be added that so far, the program is not suitable for creating editable mock-up templates (except for boxes, posters or banners). The Serif Team should keep this in mind to change that.
Less advanced users often use ready-made templates, where just a few clicks is enough to replace the graphics - hence the great popularity of Photoshop. If such templates appeared for Affinity Photo, then more people would reach for it.

PS. Also sorry for my not very best English. I use Google Translate (very often), then I make a corrections.

    Best Regards and Good Health,
    Michael

Sorry Tags is an old expression for styles. You'll  need to create a style for the first line or paragraph of text that is under your No Break text. Ideally the first line should be empty, just a hard return.
Then adjust the Below Paragraph spacing to force the text below the No Break text and even with the text in the left column.

Power Duplicate is a poor substitute because it's not live, hence not editable. If you don't get it right first time, you have to do it again and and again and again and again and and again and again and again and and again and again and again and and again and again and again and and again and again and again and and again and again and again and and again and again and again, until it's right.
Fran, we all feel your pain and have been wondering where the blend/interpolate feature is since it's been aound for about 30 years in discontinued applications and even in modern day open source applications. You'd think the developers could just copy-n-paste the code from the open source stuff.
    Apparently not...

Dave Dennis is right. The concept (hence the code) for a blend tool is 30 years old.
It's even in open source software. Here it is in the open source app, Inkscape:

Is it possible to bump this up the list for development?
I have used vector illustration software since Aldus Freehand and AI back in 1990. It puzzles me that a tool which was standard for illustration 30 years ago is not in Affinity Designer already. So many other great features but not this old staple??
