Twolane got a reaction from PaulEC in My Feedback: THANK YOU
I heartily agree with all. This software is amazing. I've had it for two years now, and I wouldn't be without it. I've moved on to v2, and it is fantastic. It more than meets my needs.

Twolane got a reaction from T V in Live Luminosity Range Mask Saved Presets ( Lights 1-6, Darks 1-6, Midtones 1-6 )
I'm on Win11 x64. I renamed the original propcol to name+_ORIGINAL and left it where it was. I copied over T V's and retained the name, obviously, and voila!
I saved a backup of the original and T V's file to my v2 Affinity Settings (backup) folder as well. I just needed to know where to look in Photo, cuz I'm kinda slow at this Affinify magick stuff. (As I'm sure Walt and a couple of others can attest to.)
So again, thanks, T V, and thanks, spiderpod7d. It looks like it's working just fine for my needs.

I replaced the v2 original propcol file with yours. Now what? I don't see any presets anywhere.

Eureka! Or, I think I see the light, so to speak. You mean the pulldown with Shadows ... M6, which obvi must be the 3 originals, plus your L1 to M6 additions. Thanks very much! I'm off to experiment.

Twolane got a reaction from IPv6 in Has V2 fixed Affinity's biggest issues?
This is what I have trouble with in all of the negative posting going on in a wide variety of threads: the price versus the complaints. I sure don't consider myself a pro by any stretch of the imagination, but...
I use Photo for book covers, both e-book and print. I use Publisher to format my print books for upload to Ingram Spark and Amazon POD distributing. Thanks to this software, my POD interiors rival that of the Big 5 publishers. V2 now serves my purposes outlined above. V1 has saved me thousands of dollars in publishing costs. I expect v2 to do the same. I will continue to chug along doing what I do best. Unsolicited advice: Perhaps the complainers should try doing the same, rather than waste time complaining about what isn't there, what should be there, what works, what doesn't work, and on and on.
Also, there is v1 to go back to if v2 doesn't make anyone happy.

Edited to add that I've been using the Affinity Serif products for two years. I bought the threesome on sale for around 25 bucks each, if I remember correctly. Thanks, Serif, and carry on regardless.

Twolane got a reaction from PaulEC in Sneaky Sales Tactics!
Isn't there a 30-day free trial?
Best not complain for too long. The price is surely going up on December 15. There'll be plenty of whining then, too, I'm sure. And we can all hear it already.

Twolane got a reaction from Chills in V2 Pricing for users V1
I can't wait for the thread that complains about missing out on the "non-sale" when the price goes up. Otter be a scream to read the whining and gnashing of teeth.

Thanks Walt. As always, you are a veritable fountain of information for users like me. I would never have thought of or discovered that on my own.

Twolane got a reaction from mrs68tm in Simulating curled image
Wow. Thanks for this. It works great in Photo V2.
I pulled a photo into the Rectangle, above "Your image above me". It resized, and I was good to go. No original image resizing required to get what I wanted. I turned off one pin, resized/recolored the one I kept and moved it to the center, and I was good to go with that, too. I can change the paper or turn the background off and have it transparent. Amazing! Would I have thought of this all on my own? Never evar! So thanks again for posting.
It never ceases to amaze me how many tips, tricks, templates, styles, LUTs, and many, many other "helps" I have found on this forum. While I obviously haven't used all of them, they're all stored away for future use should I need them. Often I'll make a text file note with the same file name to make sure I understand what they do.

Hammer? Meet nail. Ho-hum.
While many of you were posting in here, and in other threads regarding the hammer/nail controversies, I formatted another ebook for POD printing. The POD book is currently uploaded and is available on Ingram Spark and Amazon.
Oh, and I used the apparently unusable Publisher V2, of which I have a shortcut on my Win11 x64 laptop taskbar. I had such a shortcut on my desktop, too, but I deleted it. (But that's another thread, so to speak.)
I paid 99 bucks for the "full meal deal", and I don't even own an Apple product, thank goodness for that. (That's another can of worms, thanks to the Apple /// and Lisa debacles, but I digress.) (That's also another thread, but don't take it personally, all you Apple users.)
So, ya, I'm a happy user. Now, back to work. 😇
Oopsie, one more thing: I bought direct from the Affinity store, so there's that.
* sings * Hi ho, hi ho, it's back to work I go.

Twolane got a reaction from emmrecs01 in Will be a free update from 1.9 to 2.0?
7 bucks a year if you got it on sale. Not a bad ROI as far as I'm concerned. Adobe is an alternative if that was too expensive.
