But but but oh my goodness me. I have read it on this very forum that Affinity is d.e.d. Are you all now telling me that it isn't so?

This is a total joke.
Please do let us know how you make out with forcing the late, great Microsoft empire to bow to your whims. Thanks. You've heard of doing something into the wind? That will be you "forcing" MS to fabricate a fix.

Personally, I can't wait until ded V1 is replaced by ded V2. The "why didn't they include this, why did they include that" threads will be most amusing, to say the least.
So, ya. I'll be paying the price, whatever it is! I've never had more fun with a product I've only owned for a short time. It's even more fun reading some of the threads forecasting imminent demise, ded by subscription, and why do I have to uninstall MS KB updates? Why can't Affinity do their job and fix Microsoft?
🤡

But but but I thought Affinity was D.E.D.

This entire thread and the like will be redundant when V2 lands.

Then it should not be difficult to name 25 or 50 of them.
I had a yard sale, so I'm gonna wait this one out.

1,000 more tools? Amazing. Just what I'd want in my garage - thousands of unused tools cluttering up the walls and the benches, never able to find the "right" tool, and constantly cursing out a programmer for same. At least if the tools were in my actual garage, I could do a yard sale to get rid of the unused clutter collecting dust.

Try turning off OpenCL in Edit / Preferences.

turning to his final form, a cat, to cope.
A cat? No way. Completely unacceptable. I would have preferred a dog in V2. Sad. Perhaps a dog in V3?
😇
Sorry. Sometimes I just can't help myself.

Whenever V2 arrives, you all should know that you're creating quite a buzz, and at no cost to Serif. Talk about free publicity, boys and girls. This is a software designer's dream come true.
-
I paid 75 bucks for three software programs. Do I expect that any piece of software will do everything I want? Ha! Good luck with that if you have ANY experience with the different software programs, from Word to Corel to everything else on the face of the earth. DOOM is long gone for most of us, notwithstanding the current versions. Mind you, DOOM doesn't make graphics or pdfs, so there's that.
Even if I paid 150 bucks for the three programs, I'd still be ahead, whether Serif updates to V2 or leaves me in the dust.
Whiners gonna whine, instead of going out and doing some work with software available at a bargain price, is easy to learn thanks to all the videos, and works on two platforms. (Linux? what's that?) At least you all aren't digging ditches for a living, are you? Not that there's anything wrong with that, either. And if you are digging ditches and then going home to do some graphics work on your laptop before bed, aren't you the lucky one? You could still be waiting for that other set of software to come out with a single-use*** license. Good luck with that, too. Use the Affinity products while you wait. Uh-huh.
*** Oh noes. I meant single-pay.

Inclusive language? How does that work in a software menu?

The main reason I bought the app was to come here and listen - or, I guess, read - all the harping. Personally, since V2 seems to be on it's way, I want to hijack the thread and turn it into the V3 thread. Will V3 be forthcoming? What advancements can we expect, and when will V3 be released? Imminently? Beginning of the year? Right after V2? Concurrently? Why cant company people answer these questions? Every other software companies does. Will V3 run on Linux? Will V3 have everything I want, or will I have t suffer through the demands of what others want for V3? Why is it taking so long?
😇
Edited to add apologies for the grammar and spelling and ptypos, but it was early in my part of the world, I hadn't had my coffee, and furthermore, I just plain don't feel like doing proper edits.

@thomaso
Love it! The only thing missing is a Brylcreem sign.

Personally, I cant wait until v2 comes out for the fuss over v3's imminent release that no one from Serif will confirm or deny. 😁
In the meantime, thanks for v1 and all the work I've done with it.

If I might be so bold as to ask, and not wanting to hijack the thread, but, where does the copyright holder of even one of the images used to make the "AI art" stand?

From the article: implement Affinity for less than £10,000,
I don't think anyone did any fact checking on that article. That paragraph should have mentioned the number of users for 10K versus 60K for Adobe.
QuoteIs Serif in a position to confirm or deny any of these rumors at this time?
Good luck waiting for that. We'll know when we know.

I agree wholeheartedly.
I am so happy I discovered this software. Photo alone has saved me thousands of dollars in cover costs, for both ebook and print. While I do admit it was a bit of a bear learning Master Pages in Publisher, I persevered by watching videos and whining about it. Now I'm quite happily a self-proclaimed Publisher expert - in my own mind, at least. In any event, I now have 15 or 20 POD books on Ingram and Amazon. External and internal appearances rival that of the Big 5.
So, once again, thanks, Serif, for your efforts on behalf of a satisfied customer.

The last time I took a look at Linux, I thought someone had booted me back to MS DOS. Arcane interface. Arcane instructions to run anything. Arcane instructions to shove anything to a printer. Need I go on?

I brought this app 2 years ago as I was looking for a reliable app to use on my iPad
So you paid, what, 25 bucks max if you didn't get it on sale, used it for two years, and now it's unusable. It may be, for some of us. For the majority, it's probably quite useable, just the way it is.

You are nervous about what-ifs in a situation where you have nothing?
I'm not nervous about anything. I got my money's worth out of the Affininity Trinity (acquired at 25 bucks per) probably after about a month later. Or maybe three months. Whatev. It took a little longer for Publisher to sink in to my fatigued brain, but even that software is a no-brainer now. I was getting along before I met Affinity, and I'll get along after. What's the big deal? If you don't like a product, or aren't willing to pay up (as with Adobe's subscription model) move along and try to use something else. There is plenty out there.

Woooohooo! Finally!

>>> Guess you had the wrong word in mind
Not to flog a d.e.d. horse, but given the number of posts in Is Affinity dead? and Is Affinity alive?, et al, I rest my case.
In other words, I'm so glad to hear you've all suddenly changed your minds, like a wind changes direction.
