These programs are about £30 each. Yet supposed "professionals" are complaining.

This is what I have trouble with in all of the negative posting going on in a wide variety of threads: the price versus the complaints. I sure don't consider myself a pro by any stretch of the imagination, but...

    • I use Photo for book covers, both e-book and print.
    • I use Publisher to format my print books for upload to Ingram Spark and Amazon POD distributing. Thanks to this software, my POD interiors rival that of the Big 5 publishers.

V2 now serves my purposes outlined above. V1 has saved me thousands of dollars in publishing costs. I expect v2 to do the same. I will continue to chug along doing what I do best. Unsolicited advice: Perhaps the complainers should try doing the same, rather than waste time complaining about what isn't there, what should be there, what works, what doesn't work, and on and on.

Also, there is v1 to go back to if v2 doesn't make anyone happy.

Edited to add that I've been using the Affinity Serif products for two years. I bought the threesome on sale for around 25 bucks each, if I remember correctly. Thanks, Serif, and carry on regardless.

  2. Oh noes! What depravity have I started? 😇

But wait! Will v3 have this, that, or the other thing I need to do my work? If it doesn't have this, that, or the other thing, I'm not buying it. But if I do decide to buy it, I'm def going back to v1. Or I might not. On the other hand... and on and on and on ad infinitum.

But despair not, all ye who enter here. I uninstalled v1, v2, and the imaginary v3 that will solve all our problems. I have gone back to quill and ink on parchment. It is much better at this, that, and the other thing. So there's that.

  3. Wow. Thanks for this. It works great in Photo V2.

I pulled a photo into the Rectangle, above "Your image above me". It resized, and I was good to go. No original image resizing required to get what I wanted. I turned off one pin, resized/recolored the one I kept and moved it to the center, and I was good to go with that, too. I can change the paper or turn the background off and have it transparent. Amazing! Would I have thought of this all on my own? Never evar! So thanks again for posting.

It never ceases to amaze me how many tips, tricks, templates, styles, LUTs, and many, many other "helps" I have found on this forum. While I obviously haven't used all of them, they're all stored away for future use should I need them. Often I'll make a text file note with the same file name to make sure I understand what they do.

  4. Hammer? Meet nail. Ho-hum.

While many of you were posting in here, and in other threads regarding the hammer/nail controversies, I formatted another ebook for POD printing. The POD book is currently uploaded and is available on Ingram Spark and Amazon.

Oh, and I used the apparently unusable Publisher V2, of which I have a shortcut on my Win11 x64 laptop taskbar. I had such a shortcut on my desktop, too, but I deleted it. (But that's another thread, so to speak.)

I paid 99 bucks for the "full meal deal", and I don't even own an Apple product, thank goodness for that. (That's another can of worms, thanks to the Apple /// and Lisa debacles, but I digress.) (That's also another thread, but don't take it personally, all you Apple users.)

So, ya, I'm a happy user. Now, back to work. 😇

Oopsie, one more thing: I bought direct from the Affinity store, so there's that.

    * sings * Hi ho, hi ho, it's back to work I go.

  5. I would like to take this opportunity to happily report that the GMIC plugin v3163 continues to work with V2.

On the other hand, my very old free verion of NIK v1.2.11 may have some problems with a couple of the filters. I do have .12 and .15, so I'll try those, too, when I have some time.

(If this isn't the right place for this, please move it.)

Edited to add that I'm a happy upgrader and user, as per usual. I will try to keep my keyboard/finger problems whilst using the software to a minimum, but I can't promise to deliver on everything.
