  1. Is there a particular game manual on that site in PDF format that I can download and have a look at?
  2. I would suggest the slight word count variance is because of the way the different programs count words. I wouldn't be concerned. DTrpg appears to accept PDFs, so you're okay there with Publisher.
  3. One more thing. If you're looking to Publisher to export as an EPUB, it doesn't do it.
  4. Okay, well, you're in for a treat, but don't be disappointed. You need to learn all about Master Pages in Publisher. I had to do it, too, and believe me, I'm glad I wasn't on a deadline. Now I've got 15 POD books and I'm quite happy I took the time. Might I suggest googling Elaine Giles. She has a series out on Publisher. The voice leaves something to be desired, she she got it done for me. Here's one link to get you started: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Kr5je_swyJU And of course the Affinity suite of Publisher videos. Here's the link to v2 of those:
  5. Do you have your Publisher file and Master Pages already set up and ready to "Place" your docx?
  6. Please do not work with the original ODT file. Make a backup and work with that, and I think this link might get it done for you. If not, ask away, and I'll boot up my 12-year-old Dell with LibreOffice and experiment. https://www.howtogeek.com/281166/how-to-change-the-default-file-format-in-libreoffice/ As an afterthought, I stopped using LibreOffice because I found a lifetime price of around U$50 for the MS suite of products. I spent a hun and put it on two laptops.
  7. I too have been concerned about v2 backups of assets, macros, and other things. Consequently I have taken it upon myself to back up the Settings and user folders in Photo, Designer and Publisher/2.0, in their entirety. My intent is to copy those folders over in the event of a v2 reinstall. Am I safe in assuming so, realizing that nothing in the world of software is completely safe and secure?
  8. My recommendation is to download and try LibreOffice. I believe it is now the recommended fork for the OpenOffice products. I used OpenOffice prior to LibreOffice. The products are essentially the same, with the exception that LibreOffice has more current updates, such as the ability to handle docx files. Try LibreOffice. I think you'll be pleasantly surprised. LibreOffice is also updated frequently.
  9. Ah, I was using LibreOffice. It can handle docx files. Sorry. Hasn't LibreOffice replaced OpenOffice? I used LibreOffice for years before replacing it with the MS product.
  10. I no longer run any OpenOffice software, but isn't there a Save As selection in OpenOffice for docx format? You can then place the docx in Publisher. I wouldn't write any long-form text documents in Publisher. A caption or a short paragraph or two would probably be fine, if that's what you need. Pamphlets, too, of course. I'm sure others more experienced will be along shortly.
  11. I take it you disagree, for some reason too obscure to defend.
  12. Methinks you all should shell out the cash at the current discounted price. If you don't, the threads and the whining will be a lot louder when December 14 closes. Need I say more?
  13. So then luki1412, how long have you owned Affinity's v1 products?
  14. Yeah, no. People are throwing around a lot of Adobe pricing numbers, it would seem. Every time I go to Adobe's site for a look see, the pricing is at variance to the prices quoted in here, so there's that.
  15. Ya gotta do what ya gotta do, what with that disgusting pricing for the beer! Maybe you can find the beer on a speshul somewhere. And don't forget VAT, either. (That's the VAT tax, not the beer vat!)
  16. I know I've been brainwashed. Brainwashed by Affinity's disgusting low prices, that is!!! I think I recall mentioning it in an earlier post.
  17. I just went to Serif through a Belgian server. Here's what I got, and it includes VAT: Affinity V2 Universal License For macOS, Windows & iPadOS Was€199.99Now €119.99 ONE-OFF PAYMENT | incl. VAT Get Version 2 of Affinity Designer, Affinity Photo and Affinity Publisher on all operating systems, including iPad, for one low bundle price. @ thomasp - If you don't buy before December 14, it would appear as though you'll pay 199.99 Euros. And that price doesn't mention VAT, so there's all that. +++ The one-off pricing is as follows: €84.99Now €48.99 ONE-OFF PAYMENT | incl. VAT @ thomasp - If you don't buy before December 14, it would appear as though you'll pay 84.99 Euros. And that price doesn't mention VAT, so there's all that.
  18. Oh, I dunno. Isn't that like, for Photoshop for the first month x 12, and then after a year of those monthly prices it goes full price, whatever that silly number is? And then there's the Photography Plan, and the Creative Cloud Plan, and on and on. I could be wrong, though. I've been wrong before. But not about purchasing the Affinity Trinity for a one-time payment of 33 bucks per x3. With the added bonus of the 4 Apple products thrown in for free. Whee. Bonus: it's a one-time payment. Beat that, if anyone can! Talk about disgusting pricing. That's it right there, Affinity. Your plan can't be beat. And it's soooo disgusting! 😁
  19. 99 bucks for, uhh ... counts on fingers ... SEVEN! count 'em, 7 bits of software. I haven't used an Apple product since the Apple /// and the Lisa (heh. have I mentioned that before?) but I happily laid out the cash. Counts on fingers again ... THREE! count'em, 3 bits of software that I will use. That's like ... counts some more, does dividing by 3 fingers, sums something, err, maybe not ... 33 bucks a crack. Ya. That's it. I paid 33 bucks for three bits of software. When I bought v1 two years ago, I think I paid 27 bucks each. Now someone is pissed because they're paying 6 bucks more. Whiners gonna whine, I guess. Is my math wrong? Did I count wrong? Did I miss a finger somewhere? Am I missing a finger? So, basically, v2 is great value for money, notwithstanding two years of inflation and a 6 buck increase in price per unit. If I might be so bold to suggest to the whiners and shiners: You might want to pick up the latest product at the sale price before December 14, because if you don't, we will all be subjected to a completely new and not unheard round of whining and shining. That's all, folks.
  20. How long has luki1412 owned v1 of the product? I might have missed it somewhere.
  21. I heartily agree with all. This software is amazing. I've had it for two years now, and I wouldn't be without it. I've moved on to v2, and it is fantastic. It more than meets my needs.
  22. I might add that Elaine has a number of videos on the workings of v1 Publisher for laptops, which I'm sure translate well for v2. Her Publisher videos helped me learn the ins and outs of v1 Publisher. As much as I hate watching videos, I had to do it to learn that software.
  23. I'm on Win11 x64. I renamed the original propcol to name+_ORIGINAL and left it where it was. I copied over T V's and retained the name, obviously, and voila! I saved a backup of the original and T V's file to my v2 Affinity Settings (backup) folder as well. I just needed to know where to look in Photo, cuz I'm kinda slow at this Affinify magick stuff. (As I'm sure Walt and a couple of others can attest to.) So again, thanks, T V, and thanks, spiderpod7d. It looks like it's working just fine for my needs.
  24. Eureka! Or, I think I see the light, so to speak. You mean the pulldown with Shadows ... M6, which obvi must be the 3 originals, plus your L1 to M6 additions. Thanks very much! I'm off to experiment.
