Just go to the last page of your novel, the one that has the final paragraph, and add a new page or page spread. It will have a text frame that is not linked to the rest of your book.
Personally, I'd use a different master for that page but if you just want an unlinked page that's easy to do.
That's what I do. Then I cut and paste the relevant text and delete the empty pages. Strange that there's no way to actually halt frame flow, though.
-
I don't have a problem using my cut-paste method to turn off the frame flow where I need it off - which is primarily at the front for the various pages before the main text body starts. I then insert my master pages and cut-paste the text for title page, copyright page, dedication page, etc. It's what I've been doing for ages. I thought there might be a more friendly approach to doing same is all.

Thanks, Walt.
I Place my text from a Word ebook-formatted product, thus all of the text goes into the first page of my template. I then go through a copy-past exercise and an Add Page exercise to put the title page, copyright page, front matter in place. Of course, these pages are all linked through page flow because of the Place.
The back matter is the same. It too is all linked through page flow. The cutting and pasting I did last night solved that, of course.\
I'll do a test Place using my Word docx into my template and try the Frame Break to see how it shakes out.
All right, I experimented with a New from template and a Place. Following a Shift-Autoflow to flow the text, I tried a Frame Break in an appropriate location, at the beginning of the document and near the end. Frame Break inserts a blank page, but the blank page is still linked through page flow at the top left and bottom right. Page flow doesn't turn off.

I want to turn off the text frame at the end of my novel so I can do an About the author page, and others, that aren't linked to the novel text. When I click on the bottom right triangle to turn off text frames, I get the red x barbell. When I click on that same page, all the text that was on pages after the last pile up at the bottom, and I can't get them to appear anywhere.
Help says once you click on the bottom right triangle, click on the same page to end the frame and unlink pages that follow. Well, it ends the text frame flow all right, but I can't get the pages following to display anywhere else, no matter what I do.
Is this a cut and paste thing, as in cut the text you want separated, and then paste it in after you end the text frame flow?
Edited to add that I did the cut and turned off frame flow, and then deleted frames in order to get the proper effect when I pasted. I don't know if that's how it's done properly, but it worked for me and I'm happy.

When I bring down the Assign ICC Profile, it defaults to the bottom, sRGB IEC61196-2.1, as it does for all of my print book covers.
Fortunately, the cover is part of a series, so I brought over one that was working and I made the necessary changes.
No idea what went on with the one I couldn't get to work. I experimented quite a bit with the original, and couldn't find anything wrong. No problem, though. I have it working now.
I must have done something that broke the mold, so to speak. The mold is now working fine. It wasn't a big deal. It was just something that I couldn't get to work properly. I've been using the software to make print book covers for quite a while, and that's the first glitch I encountered.
The Affinity Trinity is great software. I'm so glad I discovered it.

Well, I thought I had it. I still can't change the background color. it's frozen in dark blue, and it exports to an off blue no matter the profile.
I've test exported all my other covers again. They export to PDF just fine. I'm able to set different CMYK values and change their background color if I want. The export to PDF settings are all exactly the same.
-
Document > Convert Format / ICC Profile
It says RGB8.
I ran it through all of the profiles. I don't know what I did, but it is now converting correctly. Being a rank amateur at this stuff, it sounds like I might have had a temporary bout of finger trouble. In my life, that is not unknown.
Thanks for your prompt response.

I'm not using an ICC Profile.
The color background is a Pixel layer.
-
I'm trying to export a CMYK book cover done in Photo. When I export to a CMYK PDF, the book background color is wildly off. And I do mean wild. What am I dong wrong?
Even if I do an export of only the colored background, the color is still off, and I can't correct it, no matter what I do/try to get it the right color.

Walt, discovering this software a couple of years ago was like finding sliced bread was available at the bakery. I couldn't be happier with all three programs. My own stupidity results in many of the problems I do have, from time to time. All of them are resolved with a search with the appropriate wording in these forums.

What happened to all the Learn Spelling corrections I made in my project under the previous version? Are they gone forever? Where did they go? Why did they go? Are you going to tell me that I have to run through EVERY project and re-do all of the Learn Spelling corrections again?
------------
I answered my own question. I recall having a long-ago backup of the dictionary.propcol file that I was able to copy over. All is well once again.

Wow. I can't believe the work you have put into the Canny Vectors user guide pdf. Thank you.

And if you're starting with a PDF from Affinity Publisher?
I can't comment on that. I convert .docx files in Calibre to epub for the ebook distributors that require it. I use APub to convert the .docx files into pdfs for Amazon and Ingram Spark POD books. Beyond that, I'm no help whatsoever.
-
RE using Calibre to convert to epub:
I have used Calibre to convert all of my .docx files to epubs for Google Play Books. I get around 20,000 downloads a year from Google Play, so the Calibre software must be doing something right.
1) Open Calibre.
2) Drag your .docx file into the program. Highlight the file if it isn't already.
3) Right-click on the selected title and select Convert books / Convert individually.
4) Select your cover image where it says Change cover image.
5) Slide the mouse to the top right dropdown menu and BE SURE OUPUT FORMAT = EPUB. (Eventually it will default to that if you convert enough .docx files.)
6) Enter your Title, Author, Author Sort, and Publisher. (You can leave Publisher blank. I use my author name as Publisher.)
7) Click on OK, bottom right.
😎 When the BIG ARROW on the right stops flashing, Calibre is done converting your book to an epub.
9) On the right, under Path / Click to open, you will see your epub when you CLICK ON Path: Click to open.
10) Et voilà! There is your .docx file converted to an epub.
Can't get any simpler than that.
And just what I want, stupid, mindless forum software that converts something to a smiley. Oh well, you'll figger it out, I'm certain.

Strange. I can get it to open in APub also, but it doesn't seem appropriate to say how, for some reason.

If I am to understand Lock (Ctrl-L) correctly: (Please feel free to move this to a separate topic if necessary)
I am preparing a text book (no images), for Amazon POD. Of course, my chapter pages have no header text (Author/Title), thanks to a blank Master Page I have inserted overtop. I'm to understand Ctrl-L will lock in that page setting, no matter how many pages I add anywhere in the manuscript, if I have locked the chapter pages. Is this correct?
I've experimented and this seems to be the case, but before I go ahead and lock all the chapter pages, I would like confirmation. "Lock" in Help does not come up with anything. If this is in fact true, you have no idea how great that is. It will save so much time reformatting every time I add or subtract manuscript pages in my draft.

I'm new to this stuff, but would you be looking for art boards? If that's the case, here's a couple of video links about the versatility of art boards:

You want File / Export / PDF / Area: All pages.
I've made the same mistake myself.

Thanks anyway, but I don't want to sign up for anything.

Just a wild thought, but can you get your hands on an older version? I don't know what version it was before they went to this Open CL thing - 1.7 perhaps? You might be out of luck if you bought it from the MS store, though.
-
That's unfortunate. I'm running the Affinity suite on a 10-year-old Dell with no problems, as well as a newer (but still old) Toshiba product. I'm sorry to learn you can't get it to run properly as-is.
-
Before you spend the money, go to Edit / Preferences / Performance and then, at the bottom, if it's checked, uncheck Hardware Acceleration - Enable Open CL (if you haven't done it already. Then re-start the program.

Ah. You want it for 5 or 10 bucks. I see.

That's nice and all, but for some reason I can't get the free Vectorize_WIN_Shortcut_V1.9.0 afshort file to load into Designer.
On second look, it appears some of them load, but it is an extremely limited subset. If that's the case it is hardly worth the hour I spent watching the video.
