artman reacted to VectorVonDoom in Dragonfly, Yellow Winged Darter
Sympetrum flaveolum commonly known as a yellow winged darter.
I started this ages ago and stopped a few times as I got bored with it due to it being so fiddly. I adjusted it a bit to get rid of some ugly flare. Too much effort for what it is but oh well.
The outlines looks like a black mess so I've just shown a section.

I think the tracing software is 3rd party. Not aware of any tracing capability in Designer.
That said, fantastic amount of patience rendering all the bits and pieces!

Thanks for your appreciation. I have done entirely with Affinity Designer, using only tools from that software, but I didn't know that there is some trace tool in this software.
I have used mostly pen, square, circle, gear, gradients, and effects like Gaussian blur, 3D effect, shadows, etc
And a photo of a real motorcycle below as template for this drawing.

Great job! I like the fact that it's somewhat toned-down with the softer transitions/gradients and not harshly reflective. Reminds me of airbrush artists' work from decades ago. Did you use a tracing program or is that all done by hand in Designer?

artman got a reaction from Frozen Death Knight in Will be a free update from 1.9 to 2.0?
I think It is fair that you have to pay for something new, and a NEW version deserve a payment. They are doing an excellent work with this software and for a very low price they are giving you a great product!
As long as they don't do like the other company, and they always sell with perpetual licence for me It is fair.

I like doing realistic drawings using vector software... I used to use AI, but now I going to start to use Affinity Designer... It's better, faster, smother, in many ways and others characteristics I think It will improve it.
The way AD implement Mask is amazing. It allows save too much time.

artman reacted to sacboi in Porsche 911 - Realistic Drawing
Finally calling this done. Certainly put more that a few hours into it but nonetheless overall, pretty happy with the end result alongside learning a heck of alot as well. Anyways I'm going to further explore this particular illustrative method as too whether other subject matter I've in mind can also be rendered realistically.
Cheers.

Completely new too drawing with curves which after stumbling upon these examples prompted an interest in the workflow, anyways for now just following along with Isabel Aracama's Udemy AD tute and pretty much enjoying the process thus far.
Cheers.
