gw2020 got a reaction from Loops in Publisher extremely slow
Pšenda: "After all, it goes without saying that each user, before buying a product, finds out and tests whether it meets exactly his expectations."
Yes, I did try the program, but not with the full 400 pages. I was also swayed (foolishly?) by the lavish and flashy website portrayal of what was a publishing program. And the price, of course, was right. To see that it 'met exactly my expectations' would have meant me formatting the entire thing in the trial version, but, being impressed at that point, I bought the full version. That was a mistake, apparently!
I wrote the novel in an old version of MS Word, and had no problems with file size, so why can't Affinity Publisher match the formatting ease-of-use of the 2003 version of Word (or am I missing something obvious here)? Of course Publisher offers much more scope for fine tuning of formatting, which is why I bought it, but if it's that extended scope that causes the problems then all I can say is -- "needs more work".

Which probably cannot be fully explained simply by differences in RAM, CPU, GPU, OS version, et al.

Thank you so much for offering this! It's very generous and didn't need to be done but you did it anyway! I can't take advantage of the offer, but I've finally convinced my sister to purchase Publisher. She's re-doing/updating a family history book in digital form and I'm glad she got Affinity Publisher before getting any farther in creating the book with MS Publisher. Now she can share the file with me and I can make some design tweaks 😀

So will all loyal customers - been with Serif since PagePlus Release 1 in 1990 - be getting a refund? I await Affinity's generosity!

In the email you received you have the option to opt-out of future emails (at the bottom)
Just don't come back and complain when you miss out on something you wanted, like Version 2.0 at 50% off

WOW! Who could have thought this this generous offer would meet with negativity? Affinity continues to set standards.

Having paid full price for the apps as an early adopter I find late-comers getting it half price galling! No incentive to pay the full price in future just wait and you can have it discounted! Not really a good way to support existing long term loyal customers is it!
So advertising to loyal customers that late-comers get it at a knock down price is hardly good promotion!

Or maybe you need to grow up.
What about people who own only one program and would want to take advantage of this and buy the other two.
Or people who bought programs for Mac and would also want to buy now for Windows, or the other way around.

I have just received your completely unnecessary email of 19 January "We’re here to help – use our apps free for 90 days" WHY I am a registered used of all three apps plus add ons. I do not need to be offered a 90 Day Free Trial, and 50% off all apps etc.
Unnecessary emails clog up email in boxes and will tend in the future to just dump email from affinity without reading them.
Someone in your marketing departments needs to be sacked.
Please put a stop on this type of email to existing customers.

Someone in your marketing department needs a promotion
Please keep sending me emails like this. 50% off everything in the Affinity store is a great way to reward your customers. Especially so, during the pandemic.
