  1. JPG does not support transparency. I think your file needs to be a png.
  2. I wish I understood...well, anything you said here. :) But I'm sure there are plenty who do.
  3. David4, I am not asking these questions to be sarcastic or disrespectful in any way. I know nothing about color management and next to nothing about the intricacies of printing on a professional level. I have had limited edition reproductions made of some of my paintings so I do know the importance of trying to get it right in as few attempts as necessary. I have no idea what "device independent color managed" means so my question is, if you have complete control over the color management, what difference does it make what file type you print from as long as it is of sufficient resolution? What do you think it is about files produced within Affinity apps that make it so difficult to reproduce the color correctly? Or are you saying that it is the file itself, from the photo shoot and processed in Affinity Photo, that doesn't match the original art and therefore can't be printed correctly?
  4. Very nice! That is a beautiful place.
  5. I don't think the others are bad. I do think that the Spock portrait is the best likeness and to me, captures the feel of the the individual being portrayed the best. It's interesting that the likeness to the persons they represent in other three is better when viewed at full size than it is in the thumbnails. Though the thumbnails are identifiable as the people they represent, there is something not quite right about them. Maybe studying the thumbnails could give you hints about what might need changing. For instance to my eye, the face in the Prince thumbnail seems too long. But I don't have your references and am not that familiar with Prince. I could be wrong but that is my initial reaction to that one. I think you have done a lot of great things as far as creating detail using vector shapes and I don't think you have to leave all of that out to accomplish what you are after. I like the simplified Spock portrait best because to me it captures him better than the others capture the subjects they represent. Maybe the simplification is the reason for that. I'm not sure.
  6. candacew...I think you have done a very nice job with these. I'm not sure why, but I think my favorite is Leonard Nimoy.
  7. I think you need to convert the text to curves and save it as a .png but I could be wrong.
  8. Had the same problem with PayPal but purchased anyway. Very nice Paolo!
  9. It's very difficult to lose lawyers. It usually requires the presence of other lawyers and 'round and 'round you go.... No disrespect intended ids. Couldn't resist the wordplay.
  10. Anthony while I understand your frustration, your accusation that the developers "don't care" is incorrect. Please keep in mind that it is entirely possible they reside in a different country than you and the time is not the same. You got a response to your initial post in just over an hour from Chris. I'm sure someone will address your concerns.
  11. I think she may be asking if Affinity Photo will see her scanner and if so, how does she set that up?
  12. Ronnie, Yes, thanks. I have the udemy course. But haven't looked at it in awhile. I'll check for anything you may have added. I renew my membership to lynda.com now and then. Next time I'll be sure to go thru your course there as well.
  13. Well described explanation A_B_C. Does double clicking elsewhere completely deselect the layer or do you have to select an unrelated object to deselect?
  14. Hello Ronnie, Is your lynda.com course different, improved, or similar to the one you did for udemy? I just realized this might sound like I think the udemy course was some how not well done. That is not what I meant to imply. I just wondered if there was new content in the lynda.com course.
  15. Drippy cat I'm glad to hear you have made them aware of this. I have to watch my courses using Firefox which I would prefer not to do. Hopefully they will get it sorted out. Thanks again for an informative course. I look forward to a more advanced course should you decided to do one.
  16. Hello drippy cat...Just finished your course and liked it very much. Only 2 complaints, neither of which I believe are your fault and that is probably not a discussion appropriate for this forum but I can't seem to get a response from Udemy. Maybe it's the holiday.
  17. Hello daniellin, You can import photoshop brush .abr files in both Affinity products and then set the brush properties in Designer or Photo to try and get similar results to your .tpl in photoshop. I know it would be very convenient to be able to import .tpl files to Affinity, and I'm no expert, so I don't know if it is even possible, but I would be surprised if it was.
  18. I understand completely. I have CS6. That will be the last Adobe product I own. I hope to be able to transition to AD and AP and Affinity Publisher before my copies of Illustrator, Photoshop and InDesign are no longer supported well enough to work.
  19. Ihodaniel...It's been mentioned in other posts and threads but the "fix" for plugin support requires two components. First that Affinity is working to do what they can to improve plugin support and I believe they are. And second, that NIK OnOne, Topaz and the other plugin companies are interested in Affinity supporting they're products or, more exactly, are in support of Affinity supporting they're products. It has been implied that Affinity is in contact with many of these companies. But just how much help they are getting is not known. Serif cannot create plugin support just because they want to. The plugin makers have to want to be involved.
  20. Faina, you don't have to save the files as .pdf's, though you can. You just need to save the .ai files with the option to include the pdf. checked in the save dialog window.
  21. I can not speak to specific tutorials for the scrapbooking. Since both Affinity Photo and Designer are pretty new products it may be hard to find tutorials that are so specific. I would suggest you look at Affinity Designer as it seems to be more appropriate for the tasks you describe. You can place photos, it has a more options for creating decorative text, and creating vector or raster "embellishments". Also I would imagine that once you got to know either Designer or Photo, the tutorials that are out there for other programs like Photoshop Elements or Illustrator, would be adaptable to Designer or Photo, as they work similarly for many tasks. Check out the tutorials section of this forum for many short videos that will relate to the kinds of things you want to do and it will help you decide which product, or both, is right for what you want.
  22. Hello drippy cat...Just signed up for your course and I am looking forward to going thru it.
