Well I have just restarted my PC and HDR Merge worked with 5 ORF files. Perhaps it was Windows and the ORF files not liking each other? I noticed that the ORF files weren't displaying properly in Windows Explorer. After I rebooted they displayed properly and AP2 Merge to HDR worked ??????? How do you explain the inexplicable!? Mel

Hello Lee, UPDATE - SEE BELOW!!! I have switched hardware acceleration off. One RAW ORF file takes 6-7 seconds to "Open" normally. If I try to load any number of .ORF files (2 to 5) into the HDR module, AP2 just "hangs". The programme loads 2 - 5 ".DNG files" (the same files converted) without any issues. I have attached 5 "zipped" files taken on the Olympus E-M5-MkIII HDR setting for you to test. Mel PS - PC is AMD Ryzen 5 3600 6-Core Processor, 3.60 GHz and 32GB of RAM running Windows 10 Pro 22H2, up to date today. Graphics card is AMD Radeon RX6600 5ORF_HDR_ZippedFiles.zip

Hello Dear Dangerous, Thanks for the information and with your help I will not need the exe file. I had forgotten that running a bat file was so easy (last time I remember having to do this was in days of BBC Model B computing!!!!). Following your guidance above I can now transfer an edited file from lightroom to V2 Affinity. Thanks mightily! Mel

Extremely long time to open a raw file compared to V1
Mel_P replied to Claudio60's topic in V2 Bugs found on Windows
As I noted elsewhere - ORF files take a long time to load as noted above. For "new HDR" - with 5 ORF files - the system stalls and "crashes" - no response. Rubbish! -
I find this whole situation ridiculous. I am not a programmer. I just want things to work. The way Serif has set up the install means that things don't work as they used to. I have no idea how to set up bat files etc. Going off V2 very quickly!!!!! The straightforward way of finding the V2 .exe file doesn't work as the V2 exe is in an inaccessible folder. Rubbish.

Affinity Photo 2 will load (slowly) .ORF Raw files from my new Olympus OM-D E M5 MkIII but if I load 5 x .ORF files into the "Merge HDR" the application stops responding. If I convert the .ORF to .DNG files in the Adobe converter the DNG files load quickly and convert to an HDR file quickly as well. Something wrong somewhere! This seems to be buggy performance. Hardware acceleration (Radeon 6600) is enabled. Using latest V2. The Serif table says Olympus m5 MkIII RAW files supported. Mel

Has anybody found a way of leaving a message on an AMD site re this issue - I have visited their site and, like most companies, they seem to send you in loops circles and get nowhere - perhaps there is some AMD forum? Mel -
AMD Radeon RX Hardware Acceleration
Mel_P replied to Mark Ingram's topic in V1 Bugs found on Windows
Well I have latest Affinity Photo and have just updated the AMD driver (end of June) on my RX6600 - no difference. STILL won't work if I try to tick hardware acceleration. Still waiting for action / feedback from somebody................AMD or Affinity. -

I am still waiting to have my RX6600 work with Affinity Photo - please Affinity how is progress on this matter? -
AMD Radeon RX Hardware Acceleration

They are incompetent at sorting it out. I have no programming competence to say which company needs to "make the first move". Other photo-editors don't seem to have this issue - only Affinity (I can use hardware acceleration with my Lightroom and Photoshop). They need to liaise with AMD - its been a long while that the issue has been known about. -

Will there ever be a solution - perhaps in a year or 2 I will be able to bin my AMD graphics board and buy and Nvidia one! OR more likely have started using a different photo tool - lots more out there now! -
Serif still haven't sorted this with AMD!!

I'm getting really confused. Can a Company spokesperson tell us what is going on please? -

I asked this on another question but am not sure if was the right area. Does hardware aceleration work on AMD graphics cards if just the Microsoft VGA driver is installed - i.e. the one that appears in you uninstall AMD software? Mel
