  1. Recently I asked a question about my how to adjust my workflow using Affinity Photo. I am still new to affinity Photo. Before AP I used Lightroom and Photoshop CS6 along with many plugins that are accessible from LR or PS. I start my process in LR selecting a photograph, make changes and then go to PS or one of the plugins. When I finish I exit PS or the plugin and am returned to LR where the image appeared in the LR catalog with all the changes made externally. Evidently AP does not work this way. In fact it doesn't seem to recognize the LR catalog at all. This means when I exit AP I must save the image in a new file that my LR catalog knows nothing about. At first glance this seems like a serious shortcoming in AP. I rely heavily on the LR catalog as the main repository for all my images, modified or not. My question today is, how do Affinity users coming from the world of LR and PS change their workflow to accommodate the fact that Affinity doesn't seem to support working with a central catalog? Does Affinity Photo have plans to change this? Thank you. Hector
  2. Mikerfoto - Thanks for the response. I don't know if your answer will change but often I go directly from LR to Affinity or some other software and don't use Photoshop at all. You are correct in that these other products are installed as PS plugins and it sounds like this is not an option for Affinity. However they work as I described even if I do not use Photoshop at all and I was hoping there is a way to do this in Affinity. Sounds like there is not. I have become pretty reliant on the LR catalog as my main repository for photo images and it seems like this will not work with Affinity. Thanks again.
  3. I have been using Lightroom and Photoshop CS6 and want to switch to Lightroom and Affinity Photo. Affinity is installed my computer, an older iMac, running Mojave. Affinity is installed and running fine. I am trying to use the same basic workflow as I was and that is where my question originates. In Lightroom I select an image from the LR catalog and may or may not make adjustments. My point is LR is where I start. When I am ready, I right click the image and select Edit In>Affinity. This works fine. What I am unable to do is, when I am finished in Affinity the only way I can see to exit is to Quit. When I do that Affinity asks what to do with the image. The only way to save my changes opens a dialog box saying Affinity want to create a file on my desktop, or elsewhere. There a couple reasons why I don't wish to do this. If I create the file on my desktop, the LR catalog will not be aware of this. I have software from other vendors and when I complete my work in Photoshop I say Accept to Quit and the software shuts down and I am returned to LR and the image I was working on is in the LR catalog. Affinity doesn't seem to able to do this. Am I missing something? BTW, the files I am editing are either .jpg or camera raw files from a couple different kinds of cameras. Any input will be most appreciated. Also, if anyone can point me toward some good, basic documentation on Affinity I will appreciate that as well. It may help me avoid asking more dumb questions. Thank you. Hector
  4. @MEB - Followed your instructions and it worked. All is well, all systems go. Thank you!
  5. Thanks Raymondo and MEB. Yesterday I downloaded and installed Nik Collection again, so I am assuming it is the current version. I will try the steps MEB suggested, and keep playing around. Maybe I will also contact DXO and see if they have any ideas. I am hoping to get this working so I can replace Photoshop. Thanks again.
  6. Hello - still a pretty new Affinity user trying to replace Photoshop CS6. I have an iMac, Mojave 10.14.6 and Affinity Photo 1.8.4. I installed the Nik Collection 3 plugins without any errors. When I look at Affinity> Filters>Plugins>Nik Collection I am not seeing Color Efex Pro 4 and Analog Efex Pro 2. When I look at Affinity Preferences I see a list of plugins, however Color Efex and Analog Efex have a status, "Requires Global Support", in red. There is screen shot showing this attached to my note. I searched the Affinity forum and found references to this problem but they are from 2016. Apparently this problem still exists. What is the solution? Please advise. Thank you. Hector
  7. Muchas gracias Alejandro that was a big help. I had the pleasure of visiting Buenos Aires many years ago for business. Buenos Aires and the people were amazing. My grandfather was born in Buenos Aires and then his parents took him back to Italy. I will try putting your information to good use. Thanks again Hector
  8. Hello, I recently purchased Affinity Photo for my iMac so I can replace Photoshop CS6. In PS I have a lot of plugins I would like to use in Affinity. The ones I am most interested in are Topaz, OnOne and Luminar. There are others I would like to use in Affinity but are not as desirable as the ones I mentioned. Is there a procedure for doing this? Can someone point me in that direction and perhaps more importantly, how do I troubleshoot this if/when they don't work? What kinds of plugin/filter files is Affinity looking for and where is it looking for them? Thanks in advance Hector
