Cannot Edit Design Someone Made For Me

First Post! Hi All, I am very very new to this and just downloaded the trial version of Affinity. So I need to edit a design that someone made for me however when I open the design in Affinity nothing can be changed. The full design is one layer so I cannot make the edits I need. It was a PNG file as well and I believe the design was created on Adobe Illustrator. Any help is really appreciated and I look forward to working with Affinity in the future.
