Sorry I added an amendment to above comment, maybe you didnt see. If I rasterize and trim whole image, including mask then the ghost edge disappears... but sadly this is "destructive".

@Lagarto I'm still getting the same result even when I "rasterize & trim" the image before masking?? It's almost as if there is a feather being applied to frame? Correction... Problem is fixed when I "rasterize & trim" the whole document after masking. But sadly this defeats the whole "Non Destructive" workflow that Affinity prides itself on.

Thank you both @Lagarto & @NotMyFault for looking into this. I'm glad you guys are also able to recreate my issue, it means it's not just me. I do feel this is a bug that needs fixing... I'm aware that there's still remaining non-trimmed background around image and that this is essentially what's bleeding through around edge... but isn't this the whole point of masking off an area? This function of masking/clear cutting an image and removing background seams like the most basic use of Photo, it's far from advanced so I'm surprised this issue exists and that no one has commented on it before. I've tried multiple different photos but problem still exists. I've checked image is cropped correctly, problem still exists. I've ensured RGB and CMYK is matching between Photo and Designer/Publisher, problem still exists. I've ensured unit of measure px or mm is matching between Photo and Designer/Publisher, problem still exists. The workaround for this easy I know... when placing into Designer/Publisher I've basically been putting the images into a picture frame that is a slightly smaller in order to crop off this edge... but I shouldn't need to do this. I've been doing this kind of workflow in PS and Ai/ID for years and never had this issue. Is my idea of masking like this wrong? Should I be doing this another way?? Appreciate any more help or comments. Perhaps this should be logged as a bug? Thnx

Attached below is the uncut original image in Affinity Photo which came from Unsplash. Also attached is the Designer file with my cut version embedded and where you can see the ghosting around edge. +1 on this feature, would make life a lit easier in some cases. My biggest issue with this is it is effects the "Picture Frame" when bringing artwork into Publisher... makes artwork appear much bigger than it is.

Hi there, I'm currently working on a project and clear cutting a bunch of paper scraps and other objects.... I'm doing this in Affinity Photo by selecting the area and creating a mask, works well but once I place the image onto Designer or Publisher there a ghost around the image about 1 pixel wide its remnants of the original image. I have a related question here.... My fractions are work fine for common fractions like 1/4 1/2 3/4 etc. Is there anyway to type uncommon fractions like 1/5 for example??

Walt is correct you can make your own brushes, but just not in the way you’re thinking. At the moment you can only create pixel brushes using a png file. You cannot create vector brushes like in Ai where virtually any vector can be dragged into brush palette to be used as a brush and is easily editable. This feature is near the top of my want list for Afinity 🙏🏻🙏🏻 Let’s hope it comes soonish…..

Have done a lot of work in Designer this week and then flicked over to Publisher tonight to create a document.... When I switched to the Designer Persona within Publisher my preferred layout and settings are not the same as in standalone AD. I’d like to propose that the studio layout of the Designer and Photo Persona inside Publisher should automatically sync with the layout created in standalone AD and AP. ...or at least have the ability to export/import the Studio Preset from AD and AP. This would be great for workflow by having studio layout the same and familiar and also save the hassle of having to recreate it in Publisher. Just a thought? Thanks 🙂

@walt.farrell Yeah.... nah... this didn't happen either. I'll explain it one more time.... Purchased all the 3 softwares from affinity online store back in April 2021 and ALL in Mac format.... I know it was Mac format because back in April I installed it onto my old iMac without any of these issues and I also happen to have a fairly reliable memory. So at some point my account has glitched and changed the Publisher format.

Hi there, Back on April 6th, 2021 I purchased the entire Affinity range and installed on my iMac, has been running well ever since. Today I purchased a new iMac and I’m trying to install the Affinity range again. I logged into my account, downloaded DMG's for Designer + Photo and installed no problem... But for Publisher I can only download an EXE Windows file, even though I originally purchased everything for Mac?? Help! See images attached.... Many thanks

Thank you @Lagarto It seams my problem was that my paragraphs and tabs were both right aligned. Changed the paragraphs to left aligned and its now working. Thank you so much 🙂

Help.... I'm currently trying to indent some right aligned text uses tabs in Designer. But instead of indenting just a little it sends the text to the far left of the text box. I've played with the "tab stops" panel adjusting tab size and ensuring they are right aligned etc. but I can't for the life of me figure out what I'm doing wrong? Any suggestions?? right tabs.mov

Hi guys, I'm having a similar issue.... I have a right aligned paragraph with bullets and I want the bullets to appear on the far right of the paragraph... but I can only get them to appear on the left side?? Any suggestions or tips to achieve this?? Many thanks

I hear you @GarryP And I know that’s kind of Affinity’s prerogative… “let’s not copy but improve and think outside the box”… and I think this is great and what makes Affinity an interesting product. But honestly… this particular function has no more to it than just making corners/end points even, easily, quickly and precisely, there’s really nothing else to expand on. I mean it’s such an incredibly basic function that I’m surprised I’m even asking for it.
