Of course I understand that, but x6 the data? My Lightroom app doesn’t affect it that much, albeit not as good an editing app.

Nb. I’m using Affinity for iPad, not sure why the topic loaded to MacOS and Windows.

Can anyone explain why, when I edit a file from my iphone in Affinity, when I re-save it the mb file size has increased massively: 6 times larger (as PNG) or 4 times larger (as JPG)? I’m not doing anything significant, tweaking contrast/shadows etc., occasionally using haze removal. What is happening to the image? Logically the image can’t be getting more detailed, and it means if I am intending to upload the processed image to my blog I have to then resize down, presumably at this point I am losing quality over the original? I would love it if someone can explain to me what is going on.

This issue still persists. It should be possible to purge this app. The only way that seems to work is to delete and reinstall the app, ie a pain.

I downloaded an EXIF viewer and the data is there at both ends, so it looks like the problem is at the cloud storage end after all. That’s pretty annoying, it only happens when the image is edited in Affinity. Other applications such as Lightroom and Photoshop are fine. Thanks for the tip.

I get that I have to save my edited photos back to camera roll by export-share-save image, but somewhere along the line I’ve lost exif data, most importantly date and time taken. This means when I save to my cloud storage it’s out of date order with my other images. Surely there’s a solution for this but I can’t find one despite the searching. If I could save directly from affinity to amazon photos it might not happen but there’s no way to do that either afaik.

Thanks, whilst it doesn’t exactly answer the question it is an interesting point about HEIC, when I use my Canon the file sizes do not change so massively.
