I would expect it to output a file where the "artboard" visually cropped the icon but if you open it the cropped portion would still be editable. Screens showing how illustrator handles this attached. First screen showing artboard cropping icon second screen showing preview of output icon.

This is standard in almost every app I have ever used. Illustrator for example if I want to nudge an element more than 1px at a time or bump up the font size more than 1pt at a time.

For my specific case its for a slice or multiple slices. Similar to your video example exporting png icons at normal res and 2x. For web development it is more likely that you would output svg icons with individual names then pngs if I had 50+ pngs I would make sprite not 50 files. Does this help?

DavidBachmann is correct but I don't seem to be able to attach a screen. I would expect svg to be under preset in the export options under the Export Persona. I have icon fonts that have 50+ icons that need to be exported as individual svg files.

I see that but in the export tab under export options there is no reference to svg.

This seems to be a pretty standard action in most programs is there any reason why this is not available?

For a vector program you should be able to output svg.
