  1. Not only that, even the employees generally don't know until after the fact.
  2. That is mostly the view on these forums. Outside of here it is not seen so much as a bad thing. It is actually seen as hopeful for a better future.
  3. Yes, on windows I can edit the sub-brush dynamics without a crash.
  4. Note, this does work if I add it to the main brush texture. Just not for the sub-brush.
  5. I just deleted, downloaded from the forum to make sure I'm using the same version and re-imported. Shows up for me.
  6. How do you mean it is missing? There is a sub-brush texture. See the first screenshot. Base texture on the right.
  7. Could this please be logged with development?
  8. The attached document will crash immediately when attempting to just click on the background. Windows 10 / Affinity 2.4.2 Crash on mouse click.afpub
  9. Pixel selections on artboards is broken in general. If you have multiple art boards you will encounter even more problems. All of these are part of an overall general problem of Art boards. There are many tools that just don't work correctly because they assume you are working in a document and don't properly set the bounds to the Art Board. I really wish Affinity would make it a high priority to fix as it would solve many other related issues.
  10. Any feedback or status on these issues? Could we at least prioritize someone looking into the Gaussian blur bugs as they are the most impactful and break so many use cases?
  11. Yes, and it works fine if on the main brush. It also displays properly on the preview for the sub brush.
  12. When I paint, there is no texture. Looks like this:
  13. When setting a sub brush texture, it will show in preview, but does not actually paint. Attached brush file. Windows 10, Affinity 2.4.2 test.afbrushes
  14. Yes, I'm thinking also beyond testing and typical bugs there are potentially areas that might need different approaches for the "We didn't think of that" type of use cases. Things that might require changes in the API. Good to have a preview early enough to sort those things out.
  15. Also, has Affinity considered how Scripting might need an extended Beta or be part of more than one beta cycle? I can envision with such a complex feature set that there is going to be far more feedback and initial issues than a typical feature release. It seems that it would likely be beneficial if an extended preview is available in some form to iterate on before finalizing.
  16. Thanks! Always appreciate some brief insights into progress even if they aren't necessarily "exciting". Sounds like Affinity went all in for making sure we have access to about everything! Fun times ahead :-) BTW, as part of the initial release of scripting, can you comment on whether there will be UI controls available to pass parameters to the scripts. Like sliders, entry fields etc? BTW, would love to have a curve input control as a parameter, like that is on blend ranges etc. Could do some really cool stuff with that :-)
  17. I often think it is a good idea to use symbols until I hit this bug and then remember why I don't ever use symbols. They just randomly become unlinked. Hours and hours of work gone. No way to recover. Affinity has some of the most awesome features that just aren't useable because they are so badly broken.
  18. Totally agree. I really wish they could combine the linking/symbols as more of a unified solution. There is so much potential there and yes, make it accessible from all 3 applications.
  19. Forums are completely inadequate for tracking issues. @Greg T Described very well the issues and the potential improvements. I've worked for several fortune 100 development organizations and forums could never provide the information and communication needed to have the best relationship with users in regards to properly addressing and prioritizing issues and concerns. There is a reason tracking software was created and it wasn't so that a dev team or mods could just duplicate work attempting to sync from a forum to a backend system. Most tracking software allows separate public and private views so that this is not required. One tool can provide public information while also providing private information for the dev team.
  20. Linking is one of the most powerful features in Affinity that has been hindered by the interface. The way it currently works you can't do any bulk operations. I'm not sure what inspired the current design, but it is very awkward to use. There are many times I want to use linking but avoid it just because of the frustration. Being able to just select a bunch of objects and link them all together would be such a powerful update to this feature. One other essential is the ability to duplicate a set of linked objects but break the link between the new group so the new group of linked objects can be modified independently as currently there is no way to do bulk separations either.
  21. I've thought for a long time Affinity has an opportunity to extend Studio Link into something even more useful. I use Publisher mainly for the better integration of all 3 apps. However, what would be ideal is being able to create my own custom "studio preset" with the toolbars, panels etc from all 3 apps that I use. This way I can customize affinity for my specific workflow.
  22. Using brush dynamics, there seems to be no option to create a continuous rotating brush. Cyclic rotates in one direction and then reverses. I want to be able to create a continuous rotation in the same direction.
  23. Perpetual license means you don't have to subscribe. CorelDraw offers both perpetual and subscription for the same product so there is precedent. Nonetheless, it is irrational to not think the business model will need some form of amendment. We are where we are because the current model failed to deliver what users expect from the product and the features Affinity ultimately hoped to deliver.
  24. Yes, I was one of those, but realistically what Affinity needed was going to be substantially more. I've always said Affinity is effectively free. 5+ years for a one time payment that you could probably get less than $100 on sale. Yes that is almost free compared to everything else. Just wasn't sustainable for long term growth.
  25. No, it was catch-22. A lot of people here complained that v2 wasn't enough to justify paying for the upgrade. The problem is that you need to make the updates big enough to attract that extra revenue. However, you need more resources to make those bigger updates and you can't get those resources without the bigger updates. The team was already over extended for what everyone expected out of Affinity. Also, they stated they are committed to no subscriptions. Canva is competing with Adobe for the enterprise professional designers. This is good news for the future of Affinity.
