Sorry - no, I haven't time for close and extended examination of the problem - I have to meet a print deadline and for now I have a temp solution. I apologise if I appear abrupt - very grateful to all who have offered suggestions. I'm not used to using forums to examine problems in detail - more used to either working out the problem myself or finding a solution written up online. From what I have read it appears that dealing with PDF output from AP has a few issues. I haven't time to spend crawling through all the options - either it works or it doesn't. Happy to accept that some will think me an R's!! Thanks again and bye for now.

I am fairly new to AP but successfully used the program to publish a pdf monthly newsletter - and was very pleased. However, I'm failing to publish this months newsletter because when exporting to pdf an error message occurs. Not good - I have a deadline to meet. Try as I might (surfed the message boards) the failure persists. I have found a workaround - go to print and then print as PDF works - but this is not satisfactory. I note that many users are having similar problems - with some varied advice given from this website. I'm looking for a solution and would welcome comment from someone who has had the problem and resolved it. I use an iMac Retina 4k / OS 10.15.7 - Many thanks

Thanks for your reply - I'm still teaching myself this program having transferred from InDesign.... (needs must) and I'm not sure that my base knowledge is good enough to understand exactly what it is you're explaining! Paragraph styles I see are listed in the menu - but as to creating one to do what you suggest.... just tried and failed.

I am trying to edit a paragraph which has a title in bold - range left followed immediately on the line below by fully justified regular text. The setting does not allow this to happen - either keeping the whole par as range left or justified. The result breaks the heading (three short words) across the column with large spacing. I'm sure I'm missing something - some of my imported text appears exactly as I wish - and yet other attempts fail! All suggestions gratefully received! Thanks.

Thanks for the pointer - I'll keep this in mind. I'm pretty much retired and my only commitment is to producing a village newsletter - so requirements are pretty much at the low end of the scale. However, I do like to fully understand the progams I use and any help is always welcome. I have used InDesign, Photoshop and Dreamweaver for years - and previously Illustrator, GoLive, Flash and Director. Always good to try something new - keeps the brain ticking! Thanks again.

Yes, that's certainly an option - but what I'm aiming to do is to take key files into APu and then continue using the program - replacing InDesign. If that fails then I'll attempt to rebuild the template in APu with the imported assets. The bottom line is that I am determined to use Affinity to avoid the subscription to Adobe. Yes, I used Quark for some years before changing to InDesign - and I didn't find it too bad a challenge. I expected to have some teething problems in changing programs - I'm sure with a little time and some helpful answers to my questions I'll get there! Thank you very much for your advice.

Thanks for this - I had the feeling that the tables concerned were not transferring for the very reason you have explained. Thanks for explaining page numbering. I'm just about to upgrade my now very troubled MacBookPro (2010) to a new iMac. All my Adobe software will be useless( CS5) and so I'm trying to avoid paying a monthly subscription to Adobe. I am impressed by Affinity and so I'm putting myself through a steep learning curve! Thanks for your help.
