I would like to request that the Appearance panel in Affinity Designer offer the ability to add effects and opacity settings to the individual strokes & fills.
For example, assume a shape with two fills and two strokes.
It should be possible to apply 50% opacity to the top fill; and inner shadow to the bottom stroke; and a drop shadow to the top dashed stroke. See the attached illustration below.

EricP reacted to Bit Dissapointed in Suggestion: Easier to add contents to picture frames
I think there is too much manual labour in inserting content in picture frames and that one of the options for inserting content is hidden in the left menu:
I recommend that double-clicking on an empty picture frame activates the insert file dialogue I recommend that you consider a small row of small icons over a selected content element, where an empty picture frame could have two or three small icons (not just in this frame - use them as a general UI concept) 1) Insert or replace image (if one is already inserted)
    2) Paste image as content icon (currently only in the right-click menu)
    3) Clear Picture Frame icon
For me, this would be functionality that would make work faster and easier, especially on the iPad.
As a bare minimum a bit more context sensitive options in the right click menu.

As stated here, there should be a way to handpick a certain artboard that is used as a thumbnail for the template section (and file system)
I work with artboards... a lot. And the previews in the File=>New dialogue are really small..

As far as I can tell stroke with control options have not improved from v1. Please add stroke width tool.

Yes, quick grid can achieve the result (as the new power duplicate menu), but we're missing the ability to adjust the spacing and number of duplicates later, which a live shape would allow. Think of realigning different grids after scaling, changing the number of lines etc ... The workflow benefit would be before converting to curves, having the ability to re-adjust the parameters to fit the needs of the design.
You can also save presets, with different grid patterns that can be used for hatching, pattern fills etc.
Of course a more generic tool like the upcoming blender tool might bring this as well, but it may be overkill for some simple applications. We already have a "heart" and a "cloud" shape tool, which I am sure have some use, I feel a grid shape tool, although being basic, would have much more practical  use cases and not be too costly to implement.
More generally, I would love Serif to add vector effect adjustment layers, like the mesh warp introduced in V2.0. A live vector repeater would address this need and much more.

After the great spiral tool of 2.3, it would be great to have a grid tool. We all love grids and practical applications are infinite.
I know it is now very easy to duplicate lines with the power duplicate tool and publisher has a table tool, but having a grid in the form of a "shape" that can be adjusted with a few parameters anytime would really be powerful.
    controls could include :
spacing : by interval or number of column/row border : yes/no gutter transform to curve : as lines or as polygons

so I've been playing a bit with Publisher table tool and it's close to the grid tool I was asking for.
Always better to try to use what we already have rather than wait for new things. The table cell/border formatting is quite painful to use, but it you use the vector flood fill tool for fills and recolour adjustment layer for borders, add a bit of Fx, you get great creative possibilities. All done with live table objects ...

Actually wonder if this should in fact be a transform panel thing and that if you have "transform objects separately" checked and type in an absolute value into the transform panel (e.g H=100px) then all the objects in your selection should adopt that height rather than it working proportionally based on the key object size?
Also we'll get round to adding a "Size to Same" function at some point!

Yes, you can only initialise the function while using certain tools (Move, Shapes, Artboard, Frame)
The thing with node tool is that we do intend to offer a similar option specific to the node tool, i.e. so if you have a node(s) selected in node tool you can hit enter to then move those selected by a specific distance. It will be slightly different as the duplication options for example will not be relevant in this case.

    Thanks for the video!

Everything looks to be as expected for me here. I can't see your Segment Angle, but I think its about 299-300% and your Inner Radius looks to be set to about 30%.

When you use a segment angle of greater than 90degrees, the arc becomes divided, so intermediate points are added to maintain the accuracy of the generated spiral (as I understand it), however these as these are not required when using cusped segments, so they are not used. I've attached a video that might help visualise what is happening a little better using the Pie Tool to visualise the segment angle.

The reason for just Linear and Decaying exhibiting this, is that these are the only types that have a definable Segment Angle.

Have you tried using Cavalry, it's great at parametric vector design and a great companion to Affinity Designer. You can easily copy paste svgs between the 2 applications

Thank you both for your replies. Sorry for mis-posting this in this area of the forum. I guess I followed the link in Ash's post that said if the bug is not related to new features introduced in this release, post it here. Anyway, as long as it's logged with the developers, we are good.

EricP reacted to MEB in Pixel Grid
Maybe "Force Pixel Alignment" label/name could be changed to "Snap to pixel grid" if this make things more clear for users and helps them make the connection between the two things since that's effectively what's it's doing but the suggestions made for "Move by whole pixels" make no sense. What's the difference between "Snap to pixel grid" and "Snap to whole pixel grid"? What does the "whole" adds there? This is not accurate because "Move by whole pixels" does NOT ensure the object/whatever will be "fully" aligned with the pixel grid. It just ensures that when you move/transform these objects the movements/transformations will be made using full pixel units which is a different thing. If the objects are not fully pixel aligned from the beginning (that is, if they have fractional values) those fractional values will be kept even with this setting turned on - thus the object still remains non-pixel aligned and thus doesn't make sense to change the name of this to "Snap to whole pixel grid" because that's not what is supposed to do.

"Move by whole pixels" is also dependent of Force Pixel Alignment because it only makes sense to be used in the context of a pixel aligned project for the cases where you absolutely need to control the antialiasing of certain nodes/curves. Not all elements on a pixel aligned project are lines or fit exactly in a pixel grid (think small letters, curved paths, logos etc). Sometimes you have to adjust nodes individually and keep them non-pixel aligned purposely to get a better/smother visual appearance (antialising). This setting ensures they will be kept when you need to move or transform the object or part of it while working in the project. If it didn't exist and all was snapped automatically to integer pixel values/pixel grid you would have to re-adjust the carefully placed nodes again every time you moved or transformed that object/part of the object.

If you want everything fully pixel aligned (the "snap to whole pixel grid" suggestion/idea you are talking about) then Force Pixel Alignment (or "Snap to pixel grid" as you are suggesting it being called) is all you need to have enabled.

To be honest we were little unsure whether to add "snap to pixel grid" as an additional entity in snapping manager as it felt it was effectively achieving the same thing "force pixel alignment"?
The intended behaviour is that "Snap to grid" option in snapping is purely to snap to your normal grid (so shouldn't snap to pixel grid whether or not that is on), and "force pixel alignment" should snap to pixels (again whether or not your pixel grid is turned on).
